June 30, 2014 Daisy Attends Kayaking Class...Sort Of! She Also Kissed A Man Laying On The Beach!

Daisy went to kayaking class today at Lake Almoosook!  Sort of!  I let her out of the car.

She ran right in between the red and yellow kayak.  The kayaks were touching at the time so

Daisy was stuck in the middle.  The Castine kayaking teacher continued to teach not missing

a beat.  A few students watching Daisy.  One man scooted the red kayak over.  A student was in

the red kayak at the time.  So this was not easy for him to move the kayak!  As soon as there

was room Daisy ran into the water.  At first she stood at the teacher's feet watching her.

Some people chuckled.  I did too.  Teacher kept talking.  Daisy listened.

One lady gave Daisy a pat on the head.  Another man pet Daisy.  Yet another man pet

Daisy.  Daisy loved kayaking class!

Soon Daisy was by herself in the water.  She was feeling so good today!

After a soak in Craig's Brook she hiked along the lake.  There were two people laying out

on a towel.  Daisy walked right up to the sleeping man.  He had a tshirt over his eyes.  He

was laying on the ground.  Daisy smelled his mouth.  I think she gave him a lick.  He woke

up, threw off the t shirt, and said, "Wow!"  Daisy stared at him and wagged her tail.  He said,

"I had a golden like that!  She lived to be 16 years old.  She was all lumpy like that too."

Daisy walked off.  I don't think she liked the lumpy talk.

For the last five days Daisy has been weak with intestinal problems.  Today she seemed

fine.  I am thankful for that.  We will continue our visits to the lake.  Have a great night!

June 29, 2014 Painting Of Miniature Wild Pink Roses In A Mason Jar. Tour Of Castine's Lighthouse!

"Miniature Roses with Delft Blue Plate" 6x6 oil on copper.  Framed in gold.  Shipped.  Sold.

Thanks.     I found a few wild miniature pink roses today in Castine to paint.  They grow wild this time

of year in Maine.  Daisy inspected my still life.  Nothing good to eat today.  She did smell the roses.

She is not feeling well.  She is eating less.  She is also needing to go outside at 2 am or 5 am.  She did

enjoy the beach today!  She visited with many people.

The lighthouse in Castine, Dye's Head, was open today for free tours!  Here is the view from

up top!

   That was fun!

Monet was so funny.  His stick sank.  He used his front feet to try to scoop it up.  He also

put his entire head into the water while blowing bubbles.  He was searching underwater

for his stick.  He couldn't get his stick out of the water.  Oh well.  He was determined!

    Have a great night!

June 28, 2014 Framing a Large Copper Painting! Dogs Enjoy Summer!

Zoom!  Zoom!  Zoom!  They can run very fast!

Daisy is feeling better today.  Her intestines were not good for a few days.  She

enjoy Craig's Pond and Lake Alamoosook today!

Here is Poppy and Monet taking a nap today!

I am very happy!  I framed two large paintings!  Here is a 24x24 oil on copper.  I started

with 16 ounce copper and wrapped it around a 1/4 inch MDF board.  I allowed the painting

to dry, sealed it with a very thin coat of gamblin' s galkyd, allowed this to dry, then set

the painting into the frame.

I had a 1/4 inch foam board cut to cover the back of the painting.  I just think it looks

nicer.  It has nothing to do with the copper painting.  Canvas and linen paintings need

to breath as mold and mildew can develop on the back of paintings especially in tropical

climates.  I found super duty framing hardware at Home Depot for paintings up to 100 pounds.

I have included painting hangers for up to 100 pounds also for my client.

Here is the 18x24 oil on copper framed.  The blue things on the corners just help to protect

the frame.

This painting was done on 48 ounce copper.  The copper panel was so thick

it did not need backing to keep it from warping.  It was a lot easier to frame

as it was not as thick as the 16 ounce wrapped around the 1/4 MDF board.

Here are my thoughts about 48 ounce copper substrates:    It costs the same

amount to paint on 48 ounce copper as it does painting on 16 ounce copper

wrapped around 1/4 inch MDF board.  Framing the 48 ounce copper was much

easier.  I will paint on 48 ounce copper for larger works over 10x10.

It was a major job framing these two large paintings!  I am glad it is done.

I am proud of them.  Now I will find a way to ship them! I will try the post office

first.  They really don't weigh that much.  Have a nice night!

June 27, 2014 Egg Painting! Monet Wants To Be A Bomb Sniffing Dog?

My package arrived from Dick Blick containing art supplies!  I put the box inside.  I continued

framing large paintings.  I came back to find Monet inspecting the box!  I think he could be

an excellent bomb sniffing dog!  He seemed very satisfied with himself.  I told him he was a

good dog.

Daisy had intestinal problems for 24 hours.  She seems better now.  Too many Frosty

Paws in too little time?  Glad she is better.  Here is the scene I saw last night at Dyce's Head

in Castine.  Must paint this!

I was invited to dinner with friends who are also art clients.  I had a fabulous time.

Here is the scene at Somes Sound on Mount Desert Island tonight.

Here is the sunset at Wadsworth Cove in Castine a few nights ago.  Beautiful.  Lots of

inspiration here in Maine!

Daisy and Monet went wild over the smell of smoked mozzarella.  Monet even stood on

I had gallery visitors from Florida today!  They purchased several paintings.  Thank you!

Daisy had a Frosty Paws treat yesterday and today too!

Monet set his treat on a towel so it would not scoot around!  This is how they celebrate

Yesterday she squealed, barked, and howled for two hours.  Robert said she was making all

kinds of strange noises.  She didn't like the crowd of people looking at her or touching her.

Finally she settled down.  Today she did much better.  It is good experience for her.  Monet

and Daisy kept each other company at home.  Tomorrow I will ship out paintings, frame

work, and stay at the lake for as long as Daisy would like!  Have a good night!

June 20, 2014 Summer Time At Lake Alammoosook With The Pups.

I could almost tell what Daisy was thinking as she turned around to look at me!

Look at those puppies going crazy over that red kayak!

She really enjoyed watching Robert in the red kayak.  She is tired from swimming so much

yesterday. She scared me yesterday...she was breathing fast and hard for about two minutes.

She wanted outside to sit under the steps.  She took a nap there for several hours.  She

still is eating fine.  She seemed better after a few hours.

I had to smile watching them in the water!

So cute!  What is that red thing Robert is in? Daisy will protect us.  Just keep behind her!

Great way to exercise the dogs and Robert too!

Monet found a huge stick resembling Robert's oar.

Laughing!

    All together now!

I have framed up 80 paintings for the Bar Harbor outdoor show June 21-22.

If you live near Bar Harbor consider coming to the show.

There will be 30 Maine artists selling their works.  See you there!

"Peaches on Delft Blue Plate" 5x7 oil on copper sold.  Thanks.

  Have a good night!

"Daffodil Dance" 18x24 oil on copper.  Sold today!  Thank you very much.  So pleased.

Just like a boat...the best day is when you sell the painting!  The pups will celebrate with

a Frosty Paw for sure!

June18, 2014 Today I Painted At Craig's Pond While Daisy Swam!

I wasn't planning on painting at Craig's Pond.  I took Daisy there to swim.  It was

so beautiful.  I had my painting equipment with me.  Daisy was very happy.  I could

see her well while I painted.  It was a great situation for both of us!  I was able to

capture the few minutes of wonderful light at the golden hour.  I will take a better

photo of the painting tomorrow with my Canon 7D.

What a beautiful place to paint!  Daisy was in the water for three hours.  She

would not come out!  I called Robert.  He headed to the lake with Poppy and Monet.

I took off my shoes and socks.  I waded into the water to retrieve Daisy.  She just

swam out further.

We should have grabbed Daisy as she visited with Robert, Monet, and Poppy!  Back

into the water she went!

I headed home.  I had two artists to meet at my house.  They wanted to visit with me.

Robert said he took off his shoes, socks, and rolled up his pants to wade out into the lake

after Daisy.  Daisy was in the lake for 5 hours today!  She is sleeping right now.  She

had a ball!  I may take her back tomorrow.  Have a good night.

June 17, 2014 Painted at The Belfast Boat Yard Today. Robert Puts On His Beekeeping Hat!

"Boat Yard Colors" 6x6 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thanks.

Today I painted with another artist at the Belfast boat yard.  I love to draw.  This was

pretty fun!  I started with the larger shapes then winded down to the smaller shapes leaving

out what was not important. It is challenging shrinking down a large boat scene into a smaller

6x6.  I mixed colors, held up my brush to compare it to the object, remixed if I needed to.  I

can see the values and saturation doing this.

"Sailing By Cadillac Mountain" 10x10 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thank you so much!

I felt like painting most of the night!  Why are artist's night owls?  I think we appreciate

how quiet it is.  I drove to Stonington to paint afterwards!

Robert called me and asked for the dogs to be inside.  He was

coming home with a van full of bees!  Two nukes were in the van.

One of the nukes had a hole in it.  Many bees escaped.  The

bees were flying around in the van.  I asked if he was bitten

by the bees.  He said not yet!

New bees!  Unfortunately our three bee hives died this winter.  It was a very severe

winter.  We have new bees now!

There is a new gate surrounding the beehives to protect the puppies.

We love having bees.  Bees help our fruit trees and flower and vegetables grow productively.

Everything is green now!  We have two plum trees, two pear trees, two apple trees,

lupines, roses, irises, daffodils, tulips, broccoli, tomatoes, and herbs!  There are grape

vines and clematis flowers climbing on arbors.  The season is short.  It is a wonderful

time.

Have a great night!

June 16, 2014 New Onion Painting on Delft Blue Plate Painting!

"Onions On Delft Blue 2"  oil on copper 5x7 framed in gold wood and shipped free!  Sold.  Thanks.

Today I remembered something Professor Gary Bolding taught us all in Fine Art

class at Stetson University.  We were given the task of arranging our own still life at home.

Then we were asked to draw the still life in charcoal on brown paper.  Then we were asked to paint the

still life in oils alla prima (means to paint it in one sitting).  I remember I chose an egg

carton with two eggs.  One egg was sitting inside the egg carton and the other was broken

on brown paper.  The broken egg was running towards the viewer.  I painted the oil painting

in only 4 hours.  I remember it being effortless.  Today I tried the same thing.  I drew out

my onions three different times until I was happy with the composition.  Then I painted

the painting.  It was so much easier.  I like the results too.

   Here is a detail photo.

Today the painting was not challenging.  Making Monet and Poppy happy was challenging.

Poppy and Monet would like to have puppies.  They are only 6 months old.  Robert and I

are keeping them apart for a little while.  There is a lot of barking and doggy talking going

on.  Daisy would love to be outside somewhere away from all the drama.  So would I!

Poppy stays in the kitchen.  Monet is in the backyard fenced area.  All is quiet for the moment!

Here is another detail of the onion painting.

I let them play together for a little while today chaperoned!  They sure do love each

other.  I would like for them to have puppies next time!

Here is Daisy fishing yesterday!  She is tired out today!

Beautiful twilight scene in Castine!  Have a great night!

June 15, 2014 Happy Father's Day!

"Onions On Delft Blue Plate" 5x7 oil on copper.  Sold!  Thank you so much!

I am thankful my painting sold last night.

   Sold.  Thanks!

I went to a donkey farm today!

I saw these two donkeys today scratching each other's back.

We all went to Craig's Pond today!

Being at the lake is so peaceful.

Monet and Poppy retrieved many sticks!

Daisy was looking at the puppies running wild on the beach!  What are those pups doing?

Happy Father's Day Robert!  I called my Dad this morning to wish him a happy

Father's Day too!  I am thankful I have good men in my life.  Good night.

June 14, 2014 Pear on Blue Delft Plate Painting!

"Pear On Delft Blue Plate" 6x6 oil on copper. sold.  thanks Marty!

Still life paintings require a lot of work!  I enjoy the intense concentration.  It is a great

diversion to all these grey Maine days!  The pear was painted slowly with many

layers on top of layers.  The delft blue plated required 'destroying' to

soften edges and create the shape.   The plate needed to be 'knocked down' so the pear

would be the primary interest to the viewer!  I must have painted the decoration on the plate

six times.  I made sure to minimize the detail on the plate.  I wanted some detail

for the viewer to recognize the delft blue plate and perhaps see the lovely bird painted by a wonderful

Dutch painter.

Robert took the younger pups to the beach.  I could tell Daisy was restless.  So I gathered

up a quilt and a few towels.  She was excited.  She walked quickly to the front door!  She

loves to visit Lake Alamoosook.  So do I.  I have discovered Daisy loves for me to watch her.

She loves the attention.

Craig Brook's water is icy!  She shakes to get warmer.  Maybe to get water out of her ears too.

Here is a nice photo of Jordon's Pond a few days ago.  It was

beautiful there!  Have a great night!  Let's Paint!

June 13, 2014 Irises In A Delft Blue Vase Painting Today!

"Irises In Delft Blue Vase" 5x7 oil on copper  sold.  Thank you.

Today I worked for 8 hours on this painting.  It took me a while to capture the shimmery

quality of light on the Irises!  I had to use a touch of Winter Newton Winsor Blue (green shade).

I took all the goldens to the lake!  What  brave move!  They enjoyed it!

Monet chose a large stick to retrieve.  Poppy chose a giant limb of a tree!

Daisy really enjoyed having the pups there today.  Monet raced around in a large circle

10 times hopping over rocks and sticks.  Poppy chased him a few times.  Daisy tried to chase!

She would move her front feet when he passed by her.  Her eyes were wide open!  She

enjoyed participating too.  I was smiling and laughing at all the energy.  Monet ran right

at me and forgot to stop.  He literally took me out!  He crashed right into me.  My legs

went up into the air and I fell down on  the soft pine needles.  I grabbed him by the ear.

He knew he had done a bad thing.  I don't think I could handle having golden retriever

puppies if I were older.  It might be too dangerous.  They sure are fun and loveable.

    Have a great night!

June 12, 2014 Peaches on Delft Blue Plate Painting!

"Peaches on Delft Blue Plate" 5x7 oil on copper.  Framed in gold and shipped free. Sold.  Thanks!

Today I painting in my studio because it was raining.  I set up my husband Robert's

Delft Blue plate with three peaches.  It was really fun painting the plate!  The dutch

painters who did this plate were incredibly talented.  Capturing peach was challenging.

I have never painted fruit before or a peach!  I think the onions were easier to paint than

the peach.  I learned it is the furry texture of the peach's skin that is important to capture

so the peach will look like a peach!  Daisy was laying by me all day while I painted.

Finally the smells of those peaches drove her wild.  She started to bark a little then

more persistently.  When I finished painting the peaches, I sliced one up, and gave it

to her.  She wanted more!  She has an excellent appetite.

This made me laugh tonight.  Two puppies were in Robert's chair!

I escaped to Bangor for a few hours to look at art books!

    Have a great night!

June 11, 2014 I Painted Five Paintings In Acadia National Park Today!

"Tides Coming In At Seal Harbor" 6x6 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thank you so much!

Today I drove to Acadia National Park with another painter.  He is new to Maine.  I

thought I would show him some of my favorite painting spots and tell him some interesting

historical facts.  We painted like mad!  We arrived at Seal Harbor at 9:00am.  Here

is the first painting.

"Sailing By Seal Harbor" 3x5 oil on copper.  250$ framed in gold.  Shipped free.

While he was finishing up his painting I started a very small quick sketch.  This island

is owned by the Fords.

"Spring Day At Jordon's Pond" 6x6 oil on copper.  Sold. Thanks!

I love how luminous the colors were on Jordon's Pond.  I sat on a large rock jetting

out in the lake.  I could see more water and be out of the hikers way.  A large family sat

down 6 foot away from me and started to sing loudly!  I commended them on hiking

5 miles around Jordon's Pond.  Very amazing! The youngest person was only 3

years old.

"Cadillac Mountain View Towards Lamoine" 6x6 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thanks.

I sat down on the granite rocks for a rest on top of Cadillac Mountain.  I admired

the darker Spruce trees.  I knew I could capture the glow of the distant mountains with

these darker values of tree in the foreground and middle ground!  It is a good thing

Robert made extra Blue Mountain Jamaica Coffee for me too!  My painter friend

was going strong.  We both noted we were fired up to paint today!

"Cadillac Mountain Evening" 6x6 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thanks.

We relocated for our sunset painting on Cadillac Mountain.  We both decided to paint

the scene before sunset.  I admired the glow on Eagle Lake.  Here are a few photos.

Morning at Seal Harbor towards the wharf.

I like to paint a few of the pink granite rocks on top of Cadillac Mountain.  They

make great foreground subjects.  Eagle lake is in the distance.

Here is a nice panoramic of Eagle Lake.  The best part of today was seeing my painter

friend's face seeing Seal Harbor, Jordon's Pond's Bubbles, and Cadillac Mountain.  I asked

him what view was his favorite to paint.  He answered Cadillac Mountain later in the

evening.  We both painted a lot!  Five paintings in one day is my record!  Have a good night

The puppies did well today.  Robert took them to the beach after work.

June 9, 2014 Great Time Painting On Top Of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia Today!

"Spring Cadillac Mountain View" 10x10 oil on copper.  sold!  Thanks.

Today I met a Florida artist, Rhonda, on Mount Desert Island to paint.  I showed her

a few of my favorite places to paint.  She said she was overwhelmed by the beauty of

the island.  It was 89 degrees so we drove up to Cadillac mountain to paint.  I set up to

paint the view of the Porcupine Islands.

Here is the scene I painted.  I have painted this view many times!

"Porcupine Islands From Cadillac Mountain" 11x14 oil on copper.  Sold a long time ago.

This was painted many years ago in April of 2009.  It is so interesting to look back

at past work of the same spot.

"Autumn View of Cadillac Mountain" 6x8 oil on copper.  Sold a long time ago.  This was

painted on a cold autumn day.  The colors very with the change of season.

We went to Seal Harbor a few times to see the view.

    Bernard was beautiful today!

I had so much fun showing her my secret spots!  She loved them all.  She treated

me to a fried seafood platter.  We ate on a deck overlooking a harbor.  What an

amazing day for the both of us.  We painted and ate well.  Tomorrow I am taking

my sweet dogs to the lake!  Have a good night.

June 8, 2014 Painting Of Seal Harbor Today!

"Lupines And Birch at Seal Harbor" 10x10 oil on copper.  650$ framed in gold and shipped free!

Today I drove to Mount Desert Island to paint Seal Harbor.  I have painted here many

times.  Let's take a look at these older works of Seal Harbor.  Seal Harbor is my favorite place!

"Wild White Roses at Seal Harbor" 8x10 oil on copper.  Sold.

"Summer Day in Seal Harbor" 8x10 oil on copper.  sold.

"Seal Harbor" 8x10 oil on copper.  Sold.

"Birches At Seal Harbor" 8x10 oil on copper.  sold.

Here is the scene I painted today.  Low tide is not my favorite time to paint.  What do I do?

I just paint water over all those rocks!  I would much rather see water than rocks any day of

the week!  There is something more positive about your tide coming in as compared to your

tide going out!

There are many paintings to be done here!

This is the Rockefeller boat house!  I always love to paint this into my painting.

I always am glad to see the milk cow and red barn in Ellsworth.

   Daisy enjoyed her swim yesterday!

What busy little puppies!  Monet had a piece of firewood inside.  He was using this

big stick as a chewy bone.  He would expel pieces of wood all over the place.  Poppy was

painting with a toy.  Daisy was inspecting the damage!  Have a wonderful night.

June 7, 2014 New Goal! Fruit and Vegetable Still Life!

I have decided to paint a still life a few times a week!  These still lifes will

have fruit or vegetables with a Delft Blue plate or vase in them.  I am excited.  I love a

new challenge for myself.  I will also be painting plein air as I normally do.

I selected five types of onions at the food store.  Then I borrowed Robert's Delft

Blue plate gifted to him by his sister in Holland.  Hi Edith!  Then for several hours

I sat in deep concentration painting the still life!  I will frame the painting in gold and

ship it free.

Have a great night!  The pups are great today.

June 6, 2014 Doggy Spa Day! To The Lake! Monet Has A New Bed!

"Where have you been Renee?  We missed you!  Spend the whole

day with us!"

"Yeah!  We are going to the lake!  We are going to the lake!"

"Oh I just love the lake!  Really?  I like the ocean better.  Daisy says, "Oh quiet you two!  Be

thankful!"  Yeah right.  I really dig her new ride.  Very comfortable.   I don't have to sit

on top of Daisy any more.  I do like it too.    There is so much room!

"Come on let's walk up this hill!  I want to play instead.  Yeah, let's play!"

Monet says, "I am so happy with my new doggy bed! Thanks!"

Monet says, "She brought us back each a toy!  Here is

my new toy!  I just love love love it!"

Monet says, "No Poppy!  Don't you dare tear up my new doggy bed!  I will tell

on you."  Poppy says, "I will tear up your bed when you are sleeping."

Time for a doggy nap.  Have a good night!  Woof!

June 4, 2014 I Loved Painting A Grey Day in Sconset, Nantucket!

"Sconset Greys" 10x10 oil on copper. I decided to keep this one for a while.

I had wonderful old fashioned oatmeal loaded with blueberries on top.  Then I found

a place that sold fantastic raw red tuna sushi.  I ate lots of sushi!  Oatmeal and raw

fish is a great combination for me.  I needed this extra fuel. Painting long hours is

hard work!   I called a taxi to drive me to Sconset.   I met two artists there painting,

Bill and Carolyn.  Carolyn suggested I paint there with them.  It was great fun painting

today!  This was a very challenging scene.  I just kept painting!  I really like the results.

The sky is a pale pink.

Before settling down to paint I hiked for several miles along the shorelines public

trails in Sconset.  I walked all the way to the end.  It felt so great to walk so long.

This is one of my favorite Sconset homes.

The irises were blooming everywhere!  I resisted painting them.

I wanted to paint Sconset scenes instead!  I enjoy painting architecture.

It is more difficult to paint many houses  but I

like the results.  I can do it!

I met this cat while hiking.  A Nantucket cat!

Kitty was proud of her mouse!  Even Nantucket cats hunt mice.

Then I saw a baby seal.  He was resting while his mom fished.  I saw a large

seal coming up for air once in a while.  She was checking on her little one.

One of the artists, Bill, took me back to town in his car.  He even took me to see

a few sites.   I will be leaving tomorrow on the 4: 15 ferry.  Then

I will be driving 10 hours home!  Poppy, Monet, and Daisy went for a swim in Castine

with Robert yesterday.  I am looking forward to seeing them.  Have a good night!

June 3, 2014 First Finished Sconset, Nantucket Painting Fell Into The Dirt! Second Painting Rocked!

I took a taxi to Sconset early this morning.  I chose this scene and began to paint.

Many hours went by.  Finally I was finished!  Before I had a chance to take the painting

off the easel and put it in a wet box for safe keeping a car drove up.  There are never any

cars on this white seashell drive.  Pedestrians with dogs use this walk!  There were many

artists set up along this road painting.  We each had to breakdown our painting equipment

and relocate!  A young lady was driving.  She had a choice of going on the main street.

We were all shocked.  I had the last bag moved.  My

easel was standing with the painting.  Another painter was admiring the painting.

All of a sudden the easel fell over.  She felt guilty for not grabbing it.  I guess she was

standing right next to it.  She didn't have fast enough reflexes or was too shocked to

act.  She suggested using tweetzers to remove all the debris.  I wiped if off after I took

the painting's photo.  I was upset about my painting.  A local resident said the young girl driving the car

was dropping off a very elderly lady who lives at the end of the road.  She said she

has never seen anyone drive here.  I felt better knowing this.

Here is my first painting on the easel before I moved.  What a

beautiful scene to paint.

Early this morning a bunny was running around.  The bunny was sprinting up

and down the white seashell path.  The bunny ran right up to the Yorkshire Terrier.

The bunny was the same size as the teacup dog!  I asked the lady if her dog reacted

to the bunny.  She said, "Oh yes!  Daisy (name of dog) noticed the bunny right away!

She said Daisy was very excited. "

   Very cute!

I admired this scene in Sconset but decided to wait for better light.

Better lighting!  I set up and went to work!

"Sconset, Nantucket Dream" 10x10 oil on copper. 650$ framed in gold.  Shipped.

The irises were getting ready to bloom.  I asked the gardener what color the irises where.

I painted them blooming!  I asked what plant was on the right.  He said hydrangea.  I

decided to paint a few hydrangea.  The wild roses were not blooming yet but I painted

a few in!  The purple lilacs were blooming.  I admired the

whale weather vane on the left.  I am happy with this painting!  I put it in the wet box

right away.  I took a bus and taxi back to my room.  Then I walked to Step's Beach.

Homes on Steps Beach start at 20 million dollars.

    The view is very nice!

Robert says the dogs are all fine.  Daisy is eating fine.  Poppy stole Robert's

slice of bread yesterday morning he set on the counter.

We both laughed because Daisy always did this.  Daisy ate loaves of bread.  Monet barked

very loud in Robert's face when he wants to go somewhere...just like Daisy did!  The traditions

will continue.  Have a good night.

June 2, 2014 Painting In Sconset, Nantucket Today!

"A Nantucket Day" 10x10 oil on copper.  650$ framed in gold.  Shipped.

There are five artists from all around the USA invited here to Nantucket to paint.  Two

artists joined me today.  We took a taxi to Sconset.  We found the most painted view on

Nantucket within two minutes.  We all set up to paint very close together.  We each

painted different sizes and compositions.  I think all the paintings turned out great!

They are both really great artists.  We had a good time.

A very nice lady took our photos.  She really admired all our work.  It was nice

having someone appreciate our painting efforts.  Each artist joked around about

how people reacted to their paintings when they first started to plein air.  It takes

at least  10 years of plein air painting to become accomplished.  The first few years

work produced can look very primitive.  I remember those paintings.  Those paintings seemed

like jewels!  I could not tell how bad they were.

Here is the scene later in the day.  There are long shadows crossing the

white seashell drive.  I prefer the morning light I captured.

There are many wonderful scenes to paint in Sconset, Nantucket.  I hope to return

tomorrow to work more in Sconset!

    Very quaint little village.

    Lilacs are blooming!

"Nantucket Beach Bunny" 6x8 oil on copper. 375$ framed in gold.  shipped.

As I was painting a bunny presented herself to be painted!  I liked the orange glow of her

backlit ears.  She sat for a few minutes frozen thinking I would not see her!  Little did the

bunny know she was being painted!

I am watching the sunset from my room.  I am in for the evening.  I had a nice breakfast

and a chunk of cheddar cheese for lunch.  I think I will do without dinner tonight.

Have a good night.

June 1, 2014 Window Shopping In Nantucket Tonight!

Garmin, the navigational device, has stopped working today!  I should have purchased

another one right away.  I thought I could do without Garmin.  Life without Garmin

is very difficult indeed.  I drove to New Hampshire once from Maine and again from

Massachusetts!  I drove through the center of Boston for no reason

at all!  I stopped at many places finally arriving safely at the ferry terminal.
I will be purchasing another Garmin soon!  I arrived at my hotel in Nantucket.  I walked

around looking at the window displays.  Nantucket is an amazing place.  Look at these

colorful socks!  Which one would you select?  I liked the poka dot pair.

This is the main street for shopping.  The streets are cobble stone.  I love the lanterns.

I have painted here a few times in 2010.  Painters can benefit by painting in high

traffic shopping areas in wealthy communities.  I have known several successful painters

who choose to paint in these areas.  People see you working hard everyday.  You build

a relationship with them over time.  I prefer the beach areas myself.

Interesting antique door weights.  I liked the flower one!

The lighthouse dress is pretty cute.

The glow of the red walls lured me to the window!  The scene reminded me of a

painting.

   Nice homes!

I have hired a taxi to take me to Sconset to paint tomorrow.  I injured my back two

days ago lifting Daisy.  Sconset is a beautiful place!  I will show you the results of my

day tomorrow with photos!

Robert reports the pups are all fine.  I left Daisy with a lunch plate of chicken and rice.  I

left a big bowl of water for her to drink right next to her.  She ate every morel!  She drank

all her water too.  Monet and Poppy are practicing walking on a leash with Robert tonight.

Robert was frustrated with their leash walking.  He said he will work on this every night.

Monet and Poppy are like wild wolves on leashes.  Everyone in their path is in danger including

the leash holder!  Have a good night.  Let's paint!
