September 30, 2013 Five Gouache Paintings Of Sunflowers!

I found a sunflower growing in my garden the other day while I was

watching Daisy eat tomatoes.  She sure does love to find ripe tomatoes.  I

find ripe tomatoes for her to eat too.  She loves that. Here are a few

5x7 pen and ink with gouaches.

It has taken me two days to have new brakes put on my car at

the dealership.  I am glad to have them done so now I can go

paint somewhere!  I am done with schooners.  Now I want to

focus on some autumn color!

Duke seems to be on the mend with the prednizone and muscle

relaxers.  He still limps.  I hope Robert can take a look at his back.

Maybe as a physical therapist he can help Duke.

These sunflower paintings will be gifts for clients who purchase

oil paintings on copper!

I have noticed the colors of the autumn landscape are much richer

after 3pm.  It is getting dark here around 6pm.  So that gives me a window

of three hours to paint autumn!

I just shipped about 90 pounds of painting equipment, frames, and

framing equipment to Florida for the Cape Canaveral Seashore Paintout.

I decided to fly there on Oct 3, Thursday!  I will be painting in Florida

until Oct 18, then flying home to Maine Oct 19!  So exciting to paint New

Symrna again.  I also look forward to visiting with my parents!  Have a great

night!

September 29, 2013 Robert Is Home! Dog Toys! We are Happy!

Robert is home again!  He was visiting his Mother and Sister in Holland.

Daisy and Duke were so excited as I was too!  Lots of tail wagging!

Yeah!

Duke was checking out his new Dutch elephant doggy toy!

Lots of smiles!

Daisy is overwhelmed with so many new toys!  Wow!

On the floor you will see a purple and green dog puzzle.  Daisy figured

out how to push the doors so it would reveal a treat pretty quick!  Duke

just wanted to admire Robert!  Yeah!  He is home!  Have a good night!

September 28, 2013 Three Miniature Schooner Paintings At Camden Harbor! Daisy and Duke Go To The Lake!

"Sailing In To Camden Harbor" 3x5 oil on copper.  250$ framed in gold and shipped.

"Sailing In The Olad" 3x5 oil on copper.  250$ framed in gold and shipped.

"Olad Schooner" 3x5 oil on copper.  250$ framed in gold wood.  Shipped free.

Here are three new schooner paintings I painted yesterday.  I drove to Camden to deliver

them to the Camden Falls Gallery.  I was set up to paint on the docks.  I drew out many

designs.  All the schooners had left the harbor except one.  I kept thinking of how nice

it would be to be at the lake with Daisy and Duke!  So I drove home.  I decided to let

Duke decide if he was well enough to go to the lake.  Very slowly he walked to the car.  He

hesitated four times.  I even let him into the house once!  But he wanted to go.  So the fifth

time he was in the car!  I could tell jumping up in to the car caused him some discomfort.

Once at the lake he was soooo happy!

I didn't think it would be too good for Duke to lie around the house for much longer.

He needed to get back out there!  He walked around the water for hours.

Daisy and Duke warm the hearts of on lookers at Lake Alamoosook today.  One lady commented

they were like an old married couple.

What a beautiful day!  I am so glad I decided to call it a day and go to the lake!

People were asking questions about Daisy and Duke.  How old they were..and how long

they had been together. Meanwhile Daisy and Duke walked all along the shore out of sight!

I had to chase them down.  Duke was going to tour the entire lake today!  I had to go into

the lake with my tennis shoes on to put him on a leash!  Guess he is feeling much better.

He really enjoyed being outside again.

The captain of the Surprise yelled out to me to paint him slender as I took this photo.

I guess the captain recognized me as one of the painters.  I reassured him I would.

Here is the Appledore schooner heading out of Camden Harbor near Curtis Island.

Here is the Appledore sailing!  I was driving home and saw a great opportunity to

photograph her in action!  Have a great night.

September 27, 2013 Daisy and Duke Are Feeling Great! Painted 3 Schooners Of Camden!

Duke and Daisy are in rare form this evening!  Duke is howling in the background.  Daisy

is barking too.  They want Frosty Paws!  Ok!  Good thing I keep a huge supply in the freezer

these days.  I went to Camden Harbor to paint.  I met a lot of nice people.

The light was fabulous in Camden!  So were the temperatures!  I did one small

3x5 oil on copper.  Then I came home and painted two more 3x5.  Unfortunately it is

too dark to take any photos of these three paintings tonight!  But tomorrow I will

be painting in Camden Harbor again.  Then I will post all the paintings tomorrow!

Duke is feeling really good today!  He is still limping some.  But he eyes are sparkling

and his attitude is back!  The vet called to say the Lyme disease titer was at 13.  A high

Lyme disease titer would be 30 and need to be treated.  At 13 the vet thought he would not

need to be retreated.  This might mean his sickness is caused by a disc injury in his back!

The vet said the kidney's may improve.  He wants Duke's kidneys retested in a month.

Great news!  Have a wonderful night!  Let's paint!

September 26, 2013 Sold A Painting! Duke Had A Good Day.

Here is a photo of Duke a few years ago.  Today the vet called.  Duke's kidneys have

been affected by something.  The highest level of normal for kidney function blood test

is 25.  Duke's came back higher at 30.  The vet thinks Lymes disease could be the cause.

He is waiting on the titers of lyme disease bloodwork results to determine how much

Lyme virus is in his blood.  He said then he may want to give Duke another month long

treatment of antibiotics.  Duke had a pretty good day.  He slept a lot.  His

appetite was good.  He enjoyed being petted.  He even brought me his flying bird.  But

he didn't want to have the bird fly.  He just liked being petted for bringing the bird.

Here is another older photo of Duke fishing.  I have a friend who has a golden retriever

who has back disc issues.  She has a doggy chiropractor who taught her how to do a massage

to help his back.  She sent me a video.  It looked like a very gentle massage.  You basically

just put your hands on either side of the spine and move down and then pull up on the tail

when you are done.  Duke liked this a lot.  She told me her dog lets her know when he is

done with the procedure.  Well Duke had the massage done 30 times.  He would still like

to have more of this massage.  Daisy was watching.  She decided she might like this too.  So

I spent a lot of time today perfecting my dog back massage.

"View of Smith's Cove" 6x6 oil on copper.  Sold today off my website.  Thanks!

When I wasn't giving Duke a back massage I was framing and shipping paintings! I love

to see how the paintings look in their frames.  They look so nice!

I am going to do some painting now.  Have a good night!

September 25, 2013 Duke's Trip To The Vet!

I took Duke back to the vet today.  He was lethargic.  Duke didn't want to go

to the lake the other day.  I had to do something.  At the vet Duke decided he didn't want

to go into the room when the vet wanting him to.  Duke laid down on the floor outside of

the room.  I tried to coax him into the room.  The vet did too.  For about five minutes

Duke laid there.  Duke accepted a few liver treats from the vet.  But he was determined

not to go into the room.  The vet decided to lift Duke up and carry him into the room.

This worked.   Once on the table Duke was given a few tests by the vet.  The vet lifted

a paw and flipped the toes under and laid the paw down on the table.  The natural

reaction of the dog is to put his paw back into position.  Duke was did well with his right

front paw.  Duke didn't bother to move his left front foot back into position.  This is the paw

he limps on.  The back legs Duke was very slow to correct the position of his foot.  The

vet concluded there may be disc injury causing the limping.  He prescribed Duke some

Steroids to relieve inflammation.  He also decided to give him a different pain medicine called

Gabapentin.  This pain pill is better for an injury.  The vet also collected blood for a few

different tests.  One blood test was to check his organs.  The other to check on the amount of Lymes

disease or a titration in his blood.  We will know the results of the blood tests next week.

I can hear Duke softly snoring right now laying beside my chair.  Daisy is sleeping too.

They often nap.  The vet told me sometimes dogs don't want to go to

the lake when they get older.  They want to walk around their yard.  He did tell me walking

is good for arthritis.  But if Duke has an injury, the vet told me to keep him still.

Here is Daisy.  She was bounding around like a youngster this morning.

Duke is getting the sour face from Daisy regarding the apples.  Daisy has always been

territorial about food.

I am so glad I took Duke to the vet!

Hopefully he will feel better.  I hope he can go to the lake again.  Good night!

September 24, 2013 Sold A Flower Painting Today!

"Summer's Gifts" 7x5 oil on copper.  Sold!

I was so excited today to receive a message a client wanted to

purchase this painting!  I remember the days not too long ago when

I first decided I was going to be a professional artist.  Those days five years

ago rarely brought any paintings sales.  Luckily Robert believed in me.

I worked very hard painting nearly everyday.  Now I am tasting a little

bit of success.  It is so very exciting.  There is nothing like a painting

sale.  It is exhilerating!  Yes I know I sell small paintings.  I know they are

reasonably priced.  Still I appreciate having someone wanting a painting

of mine for their home!  I am enthusiastic because it is new for me.

I made an appointment for Duke to see the vet tomorrow.  I will ask him to xray his

paw and draw blood for a full workup.  Yesterday Duke didn't even have the energy to

get into the car to go to the lake.  I had to lift him into the car.  He didn't want to go.  He

didn't want to fish.  He walked slowly around the park with me.  Then he wanted to lay

down into the car.   Duke is taking the largest amount of pain pills.

I hope the vet can figure out a solution to increasing the quality of his life.  His appetite is

great.  He wags his tail a little once in awhile.  It makes me feel sad.  I didn't paint today.
I just stayed home.  I petted my dogs.  I gave them a few Sea Jerky treats.  I hope for

a positive outcome at the vet tomorrow.  I want to see Duke's zest for life back.  Daisy is

doing great.  She gallops around with such enthusiasm.  Have a good night.  Thank you

for the painting sale.  Makes me feel better.

September 19, 2013 Frog Painting Sold! Informed Collector's Featured Artist Today!

"Welcome To My Pad" 5x7 oil on copper.  Sold a few days ago off my FASO website!

I am fortunate today to have been the featured artist on Informed Collector.  They wrote:

"There is a sense of perfection within her subjects.  The lively use of color and expressive

brushstokes fully engage us."  Thank you!

"Waiting For Monet" 10x10 oil on copper.  650$ framed in black and gold wood.  Shipped.

This painting was selected top 15% of the judges choice in the Boldbrush Painting Competition.

Thank you.  So they featured me in the informed collector which is a email newsletter reaching

thousands of people.  There are many benefits to having a FASO website.  Many people ask

me if they should have a FASO website too?  Yes do it.  Make sure you connect up your paypal

to your website with buy it now buttons under each painting.  Even if you are in galleries I would

do this.  Wouldn't your gallery be excited about you selling a painting they have?  Why not?

Many people do feel comfortable buying art off websites.  Especially if the painting is smaller

and affordable and top quality of course!  I always offer free shipping on any of my paintings.

I always frame each painting.  You can see any available paintings under the heading "paintings"

above.

I have been staying close to home petting my adoreable golden retrievers, Daisy and Duke, who

are almost 14 years old.  They are enjoying all the extra attention.  Duke is feeling better.  He

takes one chewable pain pill each morning.  He still limps on one foot.  His foot isn't swollen so there

are no broken bones.  He may have sprained his foot.

I have discovered they enjoy being scratched on  the back with a

vegetable cleaning brush.  Duke was admiring this brush on my table next to my

easel.  I had bought it to experiement with it while painting.  I thought it would make interesting

marks in the oil paint revealing the copper.  Duke decided it would make an excellent back scratcher!  Have

a good night.

September 17, 2013 Driving Around Maine Taking Photos!

First I visited the lily pond in Stockton Springs.  There were not many water lilies.  But

there were a lot of pretty frogs!  Wow!

I like to share my photos with other artists around the world to paint.  Sometimes

one of these artists sends me their painting image by email.  Some people can't

drive around like I do.  Maine is a special place.

There are many sunflowers growing right now.

There was only one schooner in Camden Harbor today.

Beautiful day at Owls Head marina.

Those plastic boxes in the ocean contain live lobsters!

Duke didn't want to go to the lake today.  I encouraged him.  He limped to the car.

I had to help him inside the car.  He didn't want to fish.  He stood for a few minutes in

the lake.  Then he wanted me to pet him.  He laid down on the ground and enjoyed his

chin scratched.

   Here is Daisy relaxing too.

When we came back home I gave Duke a chewable pain pill.  Hopeful he will feel

better.  I don't remember him injuring his foot this last month.  He is almost done

with his Lyme disease antibiotics.  I may take Duke to the vet tomorrow.  Maybe they

can do some blood work and xray his foot.  Perhaps it is not the Lymes disease causing

his foot to hurt.  Maybe he has a fracture?  Best to do a few more tests.  He is still

enjoying chicken and rice with veggies for breakfast!  Have a good night.

September 16, 2013 Finished The Camden Harbor Painting.

"Sunday Evening At Camden Harbor" 10x10 oil on copper.  Finished!

I added a few more highlights here and there.

I took Daisy and Duke for a slow car ride to Lake Alamoosook.  Here is one of my favorite

fields on Hatchery Road.  Fall colors are coming!  Love the golden rod and lavender looking

weeds.

Here is Duke walking in his creek getting ready to do some fishing.  No fish caught today.

Daisy found a few apples at the park.

I wonder if the apple was sour?  Have a good night!

September 15, 2013 Two New Schooner Paintings From Camden To See!

"Camden Schooners" 5x7 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold.  Shipped.  Available at

Camden Falls Gallery.

What fun it is trying to capture the golden hour's light on schooners in Camden Harbor.

I worked on this one last night.  That light happens so fast it was nice painting from the

computer monitor.

"Sunday Evening In Camden Harbor" 10x10 oil on copper.  650$ framed in gold wood.  Shipped.

This one is going to be in Camden Falls Gallery tomorrow around 12pm.

I painted from 1pm till 5pm on this painting.  I really love painting reflections.  So

I made sure to leave a lot of room for the reflections.  Camden Harbor is a busy place

to paint.  I talked to a lot of people today.  This was a challenging painting with many buildings

and boats and docks!

My new white shirt stayed white!  That was a challenging thing to do too.

Here is a photo of the area I painted today.  I liked all the golds so decided to paint

the water a purple, the complementary color of gold!

  Sure is pretty here!

Here is Duke enjoying a Frosty Paws doggy ice cream.  They howled and barked this

morning in anticipation of their breakfast of chicken and rice.  I am glad to see their

enthusiasm for breakfast has returned.  They have a lot of treats!  Seajerky is great

for their joints.  Then they enjoyed a raw hide bone while I did this blog.  Now they

are barking so want me to scratch their backs!  Have a good night!

September 13, 2013 How To Paint On Copper. Demo Part 2! Finished!

I decided I needed to paint the water area.  I used downward strokes.  Everyone paints

water differently.

There were a few lumps of paint in the boat's reflection.  I removed this area with my

palette knife.  I just wiped my palette knife clean each time I removed paint.

I decided to use Winsor Blue.  It is a nice brighter blue.  I usually use Cobalt.  I have

added Cerulean Blue to my palette recently.  Now I have decided Winsor Blue might be

a better blue than Cerulean Blue.  Winsor Blue is darker.  It is also a brighter blue than

the Cerulean Blue (when you add Titanium White to it).  Winsor Blue is a lot less expensive.

I painted in the tall masts using a large flat brush.  It is a very scarey process.

I did go back around a few areas of the masts to straighten the line.  I keep in mind this

is a painting not a photo.  Some flaws are allowed as I am human!

I start to paint the schooner's flags.  Then work on the reflection.

I decide to work more in the sky.  I never ever use pure white for clouds.  There are

no pure white clouds in nature.  As a child I may have painted white clouds.  But lately

after studying clouds I have come to realize clouds are really light yellow or light pink.  Then

sometimes there are gray or lavender or blue shadows.  These clouds had no shadows.

Finished! "All Dressed Up In Camden" 10x10 oil on copper.  650$ framed in black and gold.

Shipped free.   I used the back of my brush to scratch my name into the oil paint.

There is always a little light colored line broken where the water meets

the hull of the ship.   After a few weeks when the painting is dry I will put the

tiniest amount of Gamblin's Galkyd over the surface with a clean brush.  I put the

painting inside a wet painting box to dry.  When the Galkyd is dry I can frame the

painting.

How was Duke and Daisy's day?  They enjoyed chicken and rice with vegetables again

for breakfast.  I am so happy to see a new found enthusiasm for breakfast!  They

walked around the garden.  Daisy and Duke had about 4 cherry tomatoes each.

They had an afternoon nap.  Woke up...barked at me.  I am getting to realize this means

they are ready to do something.  They are not awake much during the day.  So now

I take them somewhere.  To the lake!  Duke tried to climb from the back seat to the front

seat.  He does this everytime.  He somehow became caught on something.  He was stuck

in the middle.  So I pulled over and helped to rearrange him. He was wagging his tail.

We were at the lake for about an hour.  Thenthey napped all day long!

For dinner they still like their turkey frank hotdogs.  Ever since

the canned dog food scare in the 2007 they have been eating two or three hotdogs each

for dinner.  Robert comes home to pet them.  They will probably go outside for a few

minutes. Then take another nap till they go to bed.  They had Frosty Paws tonight to

celebrate a past painting sale.  Have a good night!

September 12, 2013 How To Paint On Copper! Demo! Part 1.

I have decided to show you a demonstration on how to paint on copper.  Here I have

my image set up on my laptop.  I have sanded down the copper.  I use a sanding block

purchased at the hardware store.  I sand down the copper until it is very pink.  I really

put some muscle into it.  I have an orbital sander but it doesn't do as good of a job.

Plus copper dust goes flying everywhere.  I dust off the copper panel with a paper towel.  This

is 16 ounce copper panels...not copper flashing for roofs.  Also I like to secure the copper to

the table easel with guerrilla tape available at the hardware store.  I make a roll with the tape

and stick it to the easel.  Then the copper sticks to the tape.  Doesn't move around this way!

I use an archival micron pen to draw with.  If I don't like the drawing I can

wipe it off with a paper towel.

Today I started with the sky and trees.  I seem to approach painting differently each time.

I am not a glazer.  I paint directly wet into wet.

I painted in a heart into the sky.

That is all for today.  I worked a total of about 8 hours.

Daisy and Duke enjoyed chicken and yellow rice with vegetables this morning.  They have

not been interested in eating their dried food for a few months at breakfast.  I put cheese on their

food.  But no interest.  I have read many elderly golden retrievers like chicken and rice.  They were

not joking!  Duke had four servings.  Daisy was content with 2 servings!  Robert and I liked

chicken and rice for dinner.  So now I am cooking a giant pot of chicken and rice for tomorrow's

breakfast!  Looks like we will all be having a lot of chicken and rice!  Now for the Frosty Paws!

Have a good night!

September 11, 2013 Sunset In Castine, Maine.

Robert and I decided to see Castine's sunset at Wadsworth Cove.

I took Daisy and Duke for another Lymes disease vaccine shot.  Then I took them to

Lake Alamoosook for an hour swim.  Daisy found a few apples along the shore and ate them.

Duke searched for minnows in his creek.  I saw him digging some in the water.  Then I

took them to McDonalds for a double cheeseburger each and fries too.  Duke was excited

about this.  He even ran up the back steps to my house just to be near the cheeseburger

bag!  They hardly ever have such a treat.  I think they had a good day.

Here is Duke rolling in the grass after his cheeseburger and fries.  Look at that smile!

Here is a view from Dyce's Head in Castine.  Have a good night.

September 10, 2013 A Frog Painting!

"Welcome To My Pad" 5x7 oil on copper.  Sold!  Thanks.

How many hours does it take to paint a frog?  Too many!  I saw this frog last month

at the lily pond.  I thought the frog would be nice to paint on a rainy day!  I have always

found frogs interesting to watch.  I like to hear them croak!

Duke is enjoying his Frosty Paws doggy ice cream.  His foot still is sensitve.  But his

spirits are high especially when there is Frosty Paws, Sea Jerky, and various other

tastey treats he is given periodically through out the day!  Daisy is doing well too.  We

took them to the lake.  They swam as the sunset! Have a good night!

September 8, 2013 Painting of the Mercantile Schooner In Camden! Sold one!

"Mercantile" 5x7 oil on copper.  350$ available at Camden Falls Gallery.  Framed in gold wood!

I went to Camden Falls Gallery today to pick up my plein air paintings from their plein

air event.  The gallery owner, Howard, had just sold one of my schooner paintings.  I met

the buyer of this painting.  I told her "You made my day!"  I agreed to paint a few more

small schooner paintings for this gallery.  We agreed to allow me still to sell off my website

and have my Lammers Gallery.  I will only give him small schooner works.  Although he

kept "Bee on a Coneflower" 10x10 for his gallery.  I really like the way this gallery operates.

"Nathaniel Bowditch" 7x5 oil on copper.  Sold today.  Thanks!

I really like painting in Camden Harbor.  I met over a hundred nice people today while

I painted.  Daisy and Duke had more Frosty Paws doggy ice cream to celebrate my painting

sale today.  They howl for their treat the moment I come home!

Here is Duke enjoying his treat.  Daisy crunched up her treat and could not be photographed.

Too graphic.  I hope you are enjoying this weather!  Let's paint!  More schooners!

September 7, 2013 The Race! Photos Of Duke, Daisy, and I on York Beach!

Here is Robert on the right hand side waving by as he enters the lake for a 1.2 mile swim!

He participated in the Pumpkinman Half Ironman today!  We woke up at 4am to get ready

for the race!

Lake water was 72 degrees!  Robert had to run up a steep hill to transition into

biking 56 miles!

The sun came up as Robert was out swimming.  He and others had difficulty seeing

buoys to swim around.  He did well!

Here Robert starts his 13.1 miles to finish the race.  They traveled 73.3 miles total.  He

completed the race in 5 hours 28 minutes.  He completed the race 4 minutes faster than

4 years ago.  They served an amazing turkey buffet after the race!  Wonderful time.

Robert took these photos of Daisy, Duke, and I on York Beach!

We are all so happy to be home again!  There is nothing like home.  Have a good night!

September 6, 2013 Daisy and Duke Go To York, Maine!

Robert and I drove to York, Maine to stay for a few days.  He

is participating in a event called Pumpkinman, a half ironman.  Daisy

and Duke came along for the ride.  It was over 3 hour drive.  We

had both of their dog beds in the back of the van for them to take naps.

They did just fine but were very tired.

We took them to long beach for 5 minutes each day.  They still love to see

the beach!  They couldn't walk very far.  They did manage to walk down the long stairs

to the beach both days.

I let Daisy loose so she could chase after seagulls.  She wagged her tail as she slowly

trotted up to them.  I started to notice two different couples watching her.  One lady

clapped her hands for Daisy!

We were all smiling until we realized Daisy's back legs quit working.  She just laid

down in the ocean.  I have noticed this happening when she is tired.  I lifted her

back legs up.  She stood.  She walked out of the ocean.  I was feeling so sad

for Daisy.  One of the ladies watching was crying.  I imagine many people have elderly

dogs or goldens and know how this feels.  Daisy has had such a great life.  She is still

enjoying herself.  Robert and I will find a dog wheelchair just incase she needs it.

The hardest part today was realizing Daisy was a little embarrassed.  She knows she

is getting older.

She will come to realize we will be there for her.  We won't give up.

We just need to learn how to take care of our aging dogs.  We know to take

them for short walks.  They love being out.  They still love meeting new people

and their dogs.

Robert carried Daisy us Long Beach's steps.  She will get use to this and feel more

comfortable.  Glad Robert can lift 100 pounds.  What do people do who can't lift 100 pounds?

Both dogs really enjoyed coming to York's beaches.

We really enjoyed hanging outside our hotel room tonight.  Daisy was watching

for people walking by.  Many dogs and people came by to greet us.  Robert's race

is tomorrow!  Wish him luck!  Have a good night.  I needed a painting break.

September 4, 2013 Three Small Paintings From Stonington! Photos!

"Sailing By Stonington" 3x5 oil on copper  250$ framed in gold.  shipped free.

I was invited to paint with my friend Ruth Leech from Cape Cod and her three painter

friends in Stonington.  I sat on the steps and drank gatorade talking with them for a while.

Then I saw this scene in the distance, became inspired, and painted it!

She was working on a beautiful painting.  She and her friends are colorists.  It is

very exciting to watch them work.  So much beautiful colors are used in their paintings.

They did excellent paintings.

A schooner came by and one of the ladies painted it into her painting!  I liked it.

We decided to paint at Sand Beach in Stonington.

"Stonington's Sand Beach" 3x5 oil on copper.  250$ framed in gold.  shipped.

Here is my next painting.  I sat on top of a huge rock and painted!  Amazing colors again.

"Sunspots and Shadows" 7x5 oil on copper.  250$ framed in gold.  shipped.

I was getting ready to leave when I saw this scene.  I admired the sunlight and

shadows in the woods.  So I painted it!  The ladies liked this one the best.

Duke is limping still today.  He is taking his antibiotics like a champ.  We

hug him more and tell him loving things.  Daisy is doing really good.  They

had their Frosty Paws again tonight.  They love this!  Have a good night!

September 3, 2013 Daisy Swims After A Loon!

Sometimes a golden retriever will make you laugh.  Like yesterday when Daisy

grabbed my chicken drumstick I was trying to eat.  I was waving the drumstick

around while I talked to Robert.  I didn't notice Daisy moving in closer.  For two

minutes I was in a tug of war with my golden retriever over that drumstick.  I won.

But for a few seconds I called out to Robert to help me...I thought Daisy was going

to win.  Today Daisy saw a loon at Lake Alamoosook.  I knew when I saw her

starring at the loon...my stress level went up!  Every muscle in my body tightened

as I saw Daisy lung after the loon.

There were two loons.  Daisy had to decide which one she was going to swim after!

The other loon went down into the water when I took this photo.  In the first photo

you will see two loons and a bird sitting on a boat.

Daisy was getting closer and closer.  She ignored me completely.  I had to respect

her love for hunting.  Golden retrievers are bred for this type of thing.  A crowd of

kyakers on the beach watched in suspense.

The loon decided Daisy was getting too close for comfort.  We think this was either

the mother loon getting Daisy away from her youngster...or a male getting Daisy

away from his mate.  Either way it worked.  Daisy was too smart to continue to swim after

the loon.

The loon flew away.  Daisy turned around to see the other loon.

Here is Daisy coming back to shore.  Loon is in the distance.  All is well.

Daisy had a little exercise.  No animals or birds injured!  I am glad.  Hope

you have a good night!  Here is Duke and Daisy enjoying some frosty paws!

I hope you saw the video I posted on Sept 1 blog (yesterdays).  I hope to inspire more

artists to paint plein air or on copper!  Let's Paint!  Tomorrow I am painting in Stonington

with a group of ladies from Cape Cod!  Will post photos tomorrow.

September 1, 2013 Windjammer Festivities at Camden Harbor! Painted Nathaniel Bowditch schooner!

"Nathaniel Bowditch" 7x5 oil on copper.  SOld!  Thanks!

Today was the last day of the Camden plein air event.  I decided to paint the Nathaniel

Bowditch schooner in the Camden Harbor.  Early in the morning there was not very many

people.  By 12pm thousands of people had gathered to watch the festivities.

There were many pirates walking around.  Later they invaded

the Camden Harbor.  A lot of kids captured them.  Fun.

There was a boat race.  People had manufactured their own boats prior to the event.

Some were very cute and interesting.  There was a sinking boat award.  The coast

guard has won this award each year.

I liked the dog howling.

Here is Daisy enjoying her Frosty Paws doggy ice cream tonight.  She is celebrating

a painting sale this week!

Here is Duke enjoying his treat too!  Limping pretty bad today again.  He is still

wagging his tail and howling for frosty paws!  He is taking his antibiotics still.

I came home to find this beautiful boat moored in my backyard on the East Penobscot Channel!

I remember seeing this boat in Belfast's harbor!

I am going to take the day off tomorrow to picnic with Robert, Daisy, and Duke!  Enjoy your

day!  Thanks for reading the blog and commenting!
