April 30, 2023 Two Captiva Island Sunset Paintings To See! Photos of Captiva.

"Captiva Island Sunset April 28, 2023 Early" 5x7 oil on copper 350$ framed in gold or black

with gold. Shipping is included in the price.

I was delivering a painting on Sanibel island. I decided to go to the Mucky Duck to paint.

I had to buy two Corona Light beers during my three hour use of the parking lot and chair.

I thought it was a bargain.  I only drank one of the beers.  I just tossed the other one out.

There was great clouds for a spectacular sunset.  This was before the sun was close to the horizon.

I took both paintings home and worked on them in the studio using a cell phone image I took.

They both deserved to be refined a little.  The sunbeams were fun to paint.

"Captiva Island Sunset April 28, 2023 Later" 5x7 oil on copper 350$ framed in gold or

black with gold.  Shipping included.

I thought the scene was great as the sun lowered.  I had to paint another one.

It was challenging and fun.  I had good company on both sides of my chairs.  Two different

couples were sitting by me.  This was the first visit back to the island since the hurricanes for

them both.  I told them the sunsets are still the same.

Gulf Drive on Sanibel was the worst hit by Hurricane Ian.

Some vegetation is growing back.

The first hint the sunset was beginning from the Mucky Duck, a restaurant on

Captiva Island.

Festus spends most of his time sitting in my painting chair.

Here he is washing himself, this can take hours, and is very relaxing to watch.

I brought in another chair!  Festus looked surprised.  I thought we could both have a chair.

I could have my painting chair back.

He decided to switch chairs.  I got up very early in the morning, put a prochade box easel

in my painting chair, and was able to get him in the other chair!

Good night.

Aprile 26, 2023 Two Commissions Finished. One Paintings Greek. The Other Jamaican.

"Candy's Button Tree" 10x8 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thanks.

This Button Tree located in Treasure Beach, Jamaica was my friend Candy's

favorite tree.  She loved this tree.  She would climb up into the branches for

photos.  She passed away from Covid a few years ago.  Her boyfriend Ron

wanted this commission painting to be completed.  He will hang the painting

among other paintings done to remind him of their times together.  Many people

commission paintings as a memorial to a loved one.  I was happy to do it for him.

This is a finished commission painting, 8x10 oil on copper.

I had a video and photos for inspiration to create this painting.

The bell was changed to silver.

I am very grateful for the commissions. Thank you.

April 21, 2023 Working on A Oil On Copper Painting of A Button Tree in Jamaica. Captured Doc Adams But He Escaped.

I was asked to paint this 200 year old Button Tree located in Treasure Beach, Jamaica.

I have the underpainting done on this 8x10 copper panel. Now I will wait for this painting

to dry.  I will sand it down lightly to create a smooth surface to work on.  Then I will work

on the painting in color.

I was worried the other day at how thin Doc Adams had become.  I picked him up and

placed him inside of the screen room.  I had both Festus and Miss Kitty in the trailer.  I did

not want them exposed to Doc Adams.  I had a bowl of fresh chicken and Fussy Cat dried cat food

for him. He was hungry.  While he was eating I inspected him.  His back legs were fine. He looked

like he was limping the other day.  I think his back legs are a bit bowed.  His hair and eyes looked

good.  I was hoping to keep him in the screen room all night. I could call ARC to see if they could

help or call the vet.  Unfortunately after Doc Adams finished eating, he wanted out of the screen

room, started to meow very very loud, started to climb the screen, and found a way to escape.

He is most happiest when he is free.  I have not seen him since.  I have heard his meow behind

the trailer.  After he meowed very loud, someone opened a door, and I suspect Doc Adams went

inside.  So maybe Doc Adams has a place to live.  I hope so.  Good night.

"Sanibel Sunset April" 5x7 oil on copper 350$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included.

I had a good time painting at Turners Pass on Sanibel Island.  The Castaway

Cottages were in a huge pile as debris.  The vegetation was destroyed.  I picked up trash first.

I found a rusty fish hook, line, and several large ice tea cans.  I found a few trash bags to use.

I felt a little better helping clear the debris.  I figured out how to do the parking payment

on my cell phone.  I felt very good about that!  I sat down and saw this sand castle.  I liked

the light and shadows.  I decided I had not painted a sand castle before!  A new subject for me.

Then I painted the sunsetting.  Sadly the Dairy Queen on Sanibel Island is destroyed by the

hurricane and the property is for sale.  No more banana splits.  I was not very hungry as I was

driving off the island.  So much destruction from one hurricane.  I did see dolphins!

There are many wonderful views if a person has a parking A pass. I believe you can get this

pass only if you own a Sanibel Island home.  I saw a tour boat applauding at two dolphins

surfacing.  I think there were a total of three dolphins.

The water quality has improved.

I used a 100x zoom lens to capture a closeup of the Sanibel Lighthouse. The cottages

are both gone.  There is vegetation coming back on this side of the island.  Nice greens.

Doc Adams came for breakfast. He ate a little chicken.  He was thin.  Very thin.

I thought he was even limping a little.  I petted him. I checked him out. No sores.

I thought about putting him in a cat carrier.  I let him walk away.  Made me sad.

My cats watched him.  I might put him in a cat carrier the next time I see him.

I would take him to the vet to be first checked for diseases and then neutered.

An art patron said he would cover the expenses.  Then I could take him back up to

New England to find him a proper home.

My painting chair is very popular.  Either Festus or Miss Kitty are usually sitting in

this chair.  The top of the refrigerator is another favorite perch.  I took both cats

for a cat stroller ride looking for Doc Adams. I saw all the other cats but not Doc Adams.

There is a new orange/white tom cat who lives here.  He is boss.  Doc Adams is very

jittery now when he comes to visit. I suspect this is why we do not see as much of him.

Miss Kitty still sleeps on my right side.  She loves to extend one paw and stick me with her

needle like claws in the morning.  I always roll over and hide under a down cover!

I was playing with her this morning. She is still very playful.  She caught a giant lizard in

the place yesterday but reframed from eating it!  This means she is getting use to eating

chicken!

Good night.  I am working on two different commissions in oils.  Thanks.

April 3, 2023 Painted Plein Air at the Winter Park Rose Garden, Florida.

"Winter Park Memories" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.

I had breakfast with my parents, fed Festus and Miss Kitty, and drove a few miles to

the rose garden on Park Avenue in Winter Park, Florida.  I grew up here.  Park Avenue has

many wonderful childhood, teenager, young adult memories for me and my family.

I enjoyed painting today.  I added a few more roses.  I worked for five hours on this piece

plein air.  It is finished. I won't need to touch it up in my art studio.  I like the addition

of a few people in the distance walking and sitting on benches.  They are blocked in simply

as to not attract attention from the Peacock sculpture water fountain or the roses.

Festus meows in the car.  Then he does this kneading thing.  Then he

takes a nap.  Miss Kitty sits on the console.  She is a perfect passenger.

Festus has been playing with his cat tunnels and toys, spending most of

his time watching birds with Miss Kitty in the screen room.  He loves it here.

Miss Kitty feels right at home at my parent's house.

I was outside washing my car.  I saw a Miss Kitty clone walk by.  I called the

cat, "Miss Kitty!  What are you doing outside?"   The cat took off running like

I have never seen.  Leaping and leaping like he was on fire.  I took off running

down the sidewalk calling out "Miss Kitty!"  This is a very fine residential neighborhood

where people are very dignified.  I chased the cat five houses down before I noticed, "Wait!

"That cat does not have a gut like Miss Kitty does!"   I slowed down and watched the

imposter run.  Nope.  Not Miss Kitty!   I walked quickly back to the house, opened the

door to find Miss Kitty, lounging in the foyer.  She was content.  I told her she had

a look alike cat outside!  She did not seem to react.  I told my Dad.  My Dad said the same

thing happened to him!  He saw a Miss Kitty look alike!  He thought she had escaped.

I did not ask if he chased after that cat.  We all laughed at the whole thing.  Miss Kitty

walked by us without a clue to what happened.  I still can not believed how much this cat looked

like Miss Kitty!

The rose garden on Park Avenue is a wonderful place to paint plein air.  Good night.
