February 29, 2020 New Lobster Dinner On New York Times Newspaper Painting!

"Feast For The Eyes" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping is included in the price.

My Mom had the excellent idea to place the lobster dinner on top of a New York Times

newspaper to paint!  She had the idea many years ago.  I do love the look!

It was very fun to paint the newspaper as an abstract painting and the lobster realistic.

This was the four pound lobster named Fred.  I posed him in many different dinner paintings.

Fred now rests in Robert's flower garden. He was never eaten.

It has taken a few days for me to accept the fact Lily has Anaplasmosis and Lyme disease.

We took both Lily and Poppy to the vet for their yearly tick illness blood test.  Poppy

is in perfect health but it was Lily who has two tick borne illnesses!  Poor Lily!

She seems to be feeling better with the doxy antibiotics.  Monet also has anaplasmosis.

He is doing much better now too with the antibiotics.  They are both more playful.

I do think dogs in high tick areas need to be checked by the vet twice a year for these

tick borne illnesses.  Anaplasmosis is potentially lethal.  Lily and Monet will be fine once

they have finished their medicines.  There really is no way to prevent anaplasmosis as it

only takes 5 minutes for the tick to give the dog anaplasmosis!  I do think rose geranium oil

helps deter ticks from getting on the dog.  All of our dogs get the lyme vaccine but Lily did not

get her lyme vaccine this year because she was having puppies.

Monet loves to play with Lady Violet.

Lady Violet is still chewing on everything!  She loves to nibble on carrots, bones, pianos,

baseboards, Robert's bed, socks, and Monet.

She has different characteristics than her other family members.

She is extremely observant.  Nothing escapes her.

She loves to climb on my bed just to have access to my sock drawer!

As soon as she selects a sock she is off running out of the room and down the stairs!

She really makes us all smile and laugh a lot!

This was taken after the last snow.  We have a lot of ice on the ground.

I am working on a moose eating grass underwater in a lake!

I think I will do a few moose paintings.  Good night.

February 24, 2020 Working On Lobster Paintings! Update on A Few Puppies!

"Fancy Lobster" 6x8 oil on copper, a few 23 karat gold leaf specks, one orange fire opal,

three tiny Herkimer Diamonds.  Framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping is included

in the price.  Sold.  Thank you.

I have fond memories of ordering this large lobster on Monhegan Island a few

years ago.  I wanted a larger lobster because I think they look better in paintings.

The smaller lobsters seem to resemble spiders.  The tiny specks of 23 karat gold leaf

specks and a few gems add character and make it unique.

I like to paint lobsters because they are a universal subject!

I found another new larger Beautyrest doggie bed!

Lady Violet tested the new bed!

She is so pretty.  I think she will be a dark gold when she grows up.

We let the puppy Countess out of her house for a break while her owner was working.

Lady Violet and the Countess played hard!

The Countess looks like her Mother Lily.

Lady Violet had great social skills.

Lady Rose has a very adventurous life with her owner The Captain.

She rides on the lobster boat all week helping fish for lobster.

Then on the weekends she assists with ice fishing.

She seems to do well racing around the frozen lake sitting in a basket on the

4 wheeler!

She has a viking like look!

Good night!

February 20, 2020 Monet's Garden Paintings To See! Lots Of Doggy Toys and New Bed!

I have been doing a small series of Monet's Garden oil paintings.

I liked the above painting very much.  In fact I even had a lady thinking about buy it!

6x8 oil on copper "Monet's Garden"

One of my male artist acquaintances mentioned the other painting was stronger.

I thought it was as well.  Not every painting can be number one!

Another lady artist messaged me privately.  She loved the painting.

Yet another artist showed me how I could improve it.

I threw caution to the wind, place the painting back on the easel, and went at it!

I should have left it alone!  Some one was going to buy it.

I will never know why I tried to make it better.

I am never prone to pier pressure.

I think I will just chalk it up to a Maine Winter!

Here is the painting after several hours of completely repainting, scraping out the figure,

enlarging the figure, painting out a few foreground flowers, repainting trees, ect!

Well then I started to hear from different artist friends, "Why did you add that terrible figure!"

"I do not like it now."  The painting client who was interested wrote to me, "Let's just forget that one!"

Honestly, I do not blame her at all!

Luckily she chose for me to do a commission instead.  That painting turned out well received by her!

I am so grateful for the commission painting.  I love to do that!

"Monet's Garden 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping is included in the price.

The painting went back onto the easel!

I deleted the figure.  I painted in more flowers in the foreground.

I liked the small path in the center leading to the house.

I think it is better and finished.

"Monet's House" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping is included in the price.

I carefully painted this Monet's Garden, Giverny, France, painting.

I really love it!  I do not love all my paintings.

I learned most of the house's windows are different shaped in reality!

"A Day In Monet's Garden" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping is included in the price.

This painting turned out fine.  I loved Monet's Garden!

These three paintings would look great together.

Monet has a new bed, a Beautyrest, his favorite!

He took all the new dog toys into his bed.  He was very pleased.

Oh my goodness Monet!

Lady Violet took over the bed and toys!

Monet was not pleased but what could he do?

A truce between them was called:  Monet took a toy and the bed.  Lady Violet took the rest of the toys!

Lady Violet is always doing something entertaining.

Here she was this morning with my pajamas out in the yard!

I had no idea what was going on?

Ted visited us today.  He told us he was going to stay home for a year or more to avoid

the Corona Virus.  I wonder how many other people are thinking about doing the same thing?

I will continue to paint!  I do wish I was a medical professional to be able to assist more.

Here is what remains of the most famous abandoned house in Searsport.

The owner dismantled most of the house and is going to resell the wood.

Good night.

February 16, 2020 Working On A Monets Garden Painting. Lady Violet Plays So Hard.

I am working on this 6x8 oil on copper with 23 karat gold leaf in the center of the poppies in

the foreground.  I think it is finished.

I was trying to create different greens for the foreground, middleground, and background to create

depth in the painting.  I also wanted to break up the foreground path so the viewer's eye would

not travel so quickly through the painting.  I first designed the painting by having large and medium

size heart shapes in the foliage. I think this looks better than round little bushes.  I am going to paint

a 20x26 of this view.  It will be a little different of course.  I just wanted to see how it would look smaller.

Monet's house and gardens were amazing to tour.

Lady Violet knows how to play with Lily and Grandmother Poppy at the same time!

She sits on her Mom's head while she bites her Grandmother's ear.

They seem to like any kind of play with her.

Lady Violet prefers to cuddle up with Grandfather Monet.

He is very sweet to her except when he steals her toys and chewy bones!

We always give her another chewy or toy.

The hotel swimming pool has been invaded by horizontally large and loud kids!

I didn't swim.  I did see this beautiful oak tree!

Have a good night.

shipping is included in the price.

I painted another fox painting, gave it a Klimt twist, and will share it with you tomorrow.

Lady Violet enjoys a good tail chase!

She chases after her back leg once she has caught her tail several times.

Monet finally allowed Lady Violet to play with a new toy!

This is Lady Violet's sleepy look.

We are expecting more snow tomorrow!

I hope to get out to swim!

Good night.

February 8, 2020 Working on a Monhegan Lobster Dinner Painting!

I am working on a 20x26 oil on copper painting of two lobster special on Monhegan Island!

This is just a detail.

Here is the whole painting!

I painted in one of the Monhegan skiffs where the waterline is located.

I used a yard stick to hopefully have straight lines!

But the yard stick is no more because Lady Violet thought it was a chewy stick.

I do have a metal yard stick left!

Lady Violet climbs into my lap while I am painting to take a break.

She is so cute.

I love how she keeps me company in my chair while I paint.

Lady Violet only barks if her chewy bone is stolen.

I remedy the problem by supplying bones to everyone!

Monet had 5 chews as he discovered it is very easy to steal Lady Violet's bones!

I think it is a fun game they play.

Robert just said, "Lady Violet don't eat the piano.  Ok you can eat the piano.  Eat the

broken juke box!"

We both laughed.

Ice has covered everything!

I hope to swim today.  I am reading the book, Moby Dick.

Robert has found a wonderful butcher in Brewer who has very fresh meats.

That is all for now!  Good night.

February 5, 2020 Van Gogh's Cafe Oil on Copper Painting Is Finished.

"Bon Appetit" 20x26 oil on copper finished and sold to my husband Robert for a family discount

of course!  He is thrilled with this painting of a scene from our vacation last year.

Thank you Robert!

I am going to add 23 karat gold and a couple of tiny Herkimer Diamonds to the painting soon.

Robert plans to hang the painting at his office.

The vet has given me pills to give Monet next week to relax him for his pedicure.

I am not sure why Monet gets so worked up to has his nails trimmed?

The other dogs do not mind nail trimming.

I am going to take a few days off from painting.

The Van Gogh Cafe painting exhausted me!

Good night.

February 2, 2020 Van Gogh's Cafe in Arles, France Painting is Going Well! Lady Violet Visits Puppy Countess!

I finished the rod iron work and the red doors last night.

Now I am going to start to work on all the tables, chairs, and people!

I will need to go back to the windows on the right.

I want to paint a hint of a few windows there.

I am going to paint a few stars.

I will add 23 karat gold leaf, Herkimer Diamonds, opals, and maybe a few other gems to

the painting.

I am looking forward to seeing this one is a frame!

What a challenge!

We were invite to visit the Countess puppy who lives a few blocks away.

Lady Violet was very excited to see her Sister!

Lady Violet threw her arm around her Sister and gave her a growl.

"Where have you been?  I have missed you!"

They played, growled, snapped at each other, chased!

Countess had a stick she wanted to keep for herself!

Lady Violet thought it was time to give Countess the present we had brought!

We were laughing because we had tucked the present away for her to have when we left!

Lady Violet played keep away with the gift!

"You can have this gift but you must try to take it from me!" said Lady Violet.

"This is a very strange way to give someone a gift!  said the Countess.

"I am a very strange lady!" said Lady Violet!

"Beware of those bearing gifts!" she continued.

Lady Violet said:  "Some gifts are anticlimatic!"

The Countess loved the roses so much.  She brought them all inside and guarded them.

The Countess stated:  "I have been given many gifts.  I am very loved."

I am afraid Lady Violet rolled her eyes.

She said under her breath, "Yes and I bet you will show all of your gifts!"

Countess showed Lady Violet her most prized possession, the gift of the frizbee!

She played keep away!

Lady Violet thought the visit was so much fun!

"Come back here!  Let me see that frisbee!"

Lady Violet yelled, "Sharing is caring!"

The Countess ignored her.  The other one sighed.

Lady Rose was inside of a fish shack on Patton Pond in Maine with her prize!

She knows how to watch the traps for the flags raising!

There she is alerting her Captain owner a fish is on the hook!

Good night.

February 1, 2020 Working On Van Gogh's Cafe In Arles, France Oil On Copper Painting!

I am currently working on this 20x26 oil on copper painting.

Robert and I went to see the cafe Van Gogh painted in Arles, France last year.

We ate at this cafe one night.  Robert ate sardines.  I had spaghetti.

I decided to add a full moon.

I started to paint the right side.

After eight hours I only accomplished this much.

I painted a few people walking.

Then last night I repainted the sky lighter and worked on the upper left side.

I painted Robert and I into the painting where we were dining.

I was wearing a velvet black hat.  Robert was sipping wine.

I was painting while Monet shared my chair!

Lady Violet kept trying to climb under the back of the chair!

This made the whole chair rock.

I was saying, "No!  Stop!" but Lady Violet continued her quest!

She does this every night after Robert goes to sleep.

I get up and give her a carrot to keep her busy.

Here is the painting now.  I worked late last night.

Today I would like to finish the rod iron under the yellow awning.

I would like to finish the left side of the building with the doors.

Then I will finally start to work on all the tables and people!

I will add a few stars later.

Lady Violet plays very gently.

She likes to clean Monet's ears.

He doesn't mind.

Lily loves to steal things from Lady Violet.

For 20$ I purchased these tiny orange fire opals from India.

I think they will look good in a few paintings.

These labradorite cabochons caught my eye from India.

I think smaller specks will look nice in water paintings.

Goodnight!
