"Somes Sound Summer" 20x26 oil on copper.  1750$ framed in your choice of frames.

Shipping included.

I decided to paint more boats into the distance.

I reworked the clouds and sky!

The distant water needed a darker cooler color.

I refined the metal railing.

I reworked the sails and reflections.

Here is the painting before!

"Monhegan Island On A Spring Day" 14x20 oil on copper 950$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping is include;d.

I painted a few lobster boats and waves around Manana Island.

I also lightened the water surrounding the harbor homes.

"King of Stonington, Maine, Dundee" 6x8 oil on copper. Sold.  Thank you.

I am working with a few photos to complete one painting.

This idea was given to me by a very accomplished Maine artist.

Dundee's presence in the painting provided a good foreground  and entrance

into the middle ground.

It is always a compliment when another artist purchases a painting.

Thank you so much!

They preferred the painting as it is without further color!

I am working on paying off copper panels I purchased on a credit card.

I had no choice.

The copper man was leaving on a 6 month hike!

I needed copper panels to continue working.

I have faith the copper will be paid off soon.

Cash flow is a constant issue with all artists who work every day.

I feel fortunate to paint.

I continue to improve slowly over the years as a artist.

Painting must continue.

"Ladies Day Out" 6x8 oil on copper Painting in progress.  Not finished yet.

I will add more color later once the painting dries.

"Bronson and Charlie"  6x8  oil on copper.  In progress!

   Monet had cabin fever yesterday.

I took him walking.

He loved being the only dog with me.

He felt so special!

Monet enjoyed seeing sheep with horses.

He was quiet at first.

He sniffed.

He growled after watching them move around.

   Have a good night.

January 25, 2019 Five New Paintings Oil on Copper In Progress To See!

"Dundee, The Orange Maine Coon Cat, of Stonington" 6x8 oil on copper in progress.

This might be my favorite pose of my 'pseudo' cat.

Dundee winters in Camden and lives by the sea in his own house in Stonington, Maine.

I will allow all these recent 6x8 grisaille paintings to dry.

Then my plan is to work with color on top of the grisaille oil paint.

This allows me to study the design and mood.

I can make changes later when the paint dries during round two!

"Discovered Treasures" 6x8 oil on copper.  In progress.

I saw this seen at a boat yard in Sorrento, Maine many years ago.

The design was fantastic.

I think it will look great with a little color.

"Stonington Walk" 6x8 oil on copper in progress. Sold.  Thank you!

I like the seagulls.  That was fun!

I hope to work more on the lady walking her dog.

"Three Gables" 6x8 oil on copper.  In progress.

I hope to create a lighter mood with this one later.

  Milo was admiring his Ted.

Look at the love in his eyes!

It is a beautiful look.

Ted took Milo to a gun range.

He wanted Milo to get accustomed to gun fire.

Ted carries around small guns or riffles during their walks in the woods.

Milo did not even flinch when the gun went off.

Ted says besides Milo being a Westminster Grand Champion show dog he was also

a trained hunting dog!

Ted thinks Milo was also a service dog.

His service dog vest is coming in the mail.

Milo spent entire life (before Ted) in a barn as a stud dog for a puppy mill.

He must be acting  as a show dog, hunting dog, and service dog to impress his master!

Ted said today, "Do you know what the best part of Milo is?  He lays next to me

on my bed at night.  He places his front paws on my chest.  He puts his head

on my chest next to my face.  Then he lets me pet him.  We do this for hours

every night.  Then I clear all my boots, socks, shoes, toys, and anything else

he has brought me, and put it back in the family room, and then he climbs into

his fancy dog bed, and we both sleep."

   Ted is very content.

He is very protective of Milo.

I know this means he cares deeply for his new friend.

Milo tolerates Lily and Poppy's presence.

Milo is very tense around them.

I can feel his whole body tense up when they are outside with him.

Only the other hand Lily and Poppy are nervous and afraid of Milo!

Monet stays inside the house.

This is one of the most beautiful mansard roof homes I have seen in Maine.

I am going to paint this house someday.

Good night!

January 23, 2018 White Horse In Snow Painting and Two New Laundry Paintings in Progress!

I am working on more 6x8 oil on copper grisaille (grey value underpaintings).

I have never painted a horse before.

I will work more on the form of the horse with color once it is dried.

I loved the smoke escaping from his nose on a very cold Vermont day!

Laundry paintings are always fun to paint!

I might paint a small bird sitting on the line.

Both of these laundry scenes were on Monhegan Island.

I sat in my chair watching those sheet being whipped by the wind.

The wind on Monhegan is wonderful!

Milo and Ted did come back to visit us this morning.

Monet stayed inside the house while Milo took a lap around the yard.

Poppy and Lily visited Milo briefly.

Milo wanted to sit inside the truck.

Ted came upstairs to visit with Monet.

He was whispering in Monet's ear, "You need to be nice to my boy Milo.

No more fighting.  Milo is a very sweet boy.  Be good."

Ted said that Milo is the sweetest dog he has ever known.

Ted is very impressed with Milo.

I am so glad.

I love painting spruce trees in snow.

Look at that shadow.  Beautiful.

Good night.

January 22, 2019 Monet Attacked Milo. Lily Stole Milo's Toy! Poor Milo.

Lily went inside Ted's truck and stole Milo's large stuffed animal!

She ran up the stairs with the confiscated toy fast!

She jumped onto the door hoping I would let her inside!

I let her inside the house.  She searched for a place to hide the toy!

During this time Monet escaped outside, ran down the stairs, and started to attack Milo!

I grabbed the dog toy from Lily, ran down the stairs, and watched the two dogs

spiral around in circles lunging at each other!

They were growling, grabbing each other's necks, while Ted yelled "Stop! Stop!"

Milo was trying to defend himself.

He grabbed Monet by the back of his neck holding him still.

Finally Monet pulled back.  Milo stopped holding him.

I grabbed Monet by the back, putting my hands under his back hips, and pulled him away.

I put a leash on Monet and put him upstairs!

I tossed Milo's toy back inside his truck.

Milo wanted to go inside the truck.

I have never seen Milo more sad sitting inside Ted's truck.

I told him I was very sorry.

He looked down.  He was so sad.

Ted sat inside the truck petting and consoling Milo.

Milo and Monet didn't have any bite marks.

Ted said, "I hate to say this but Milo is the more refined of the dogs!"

I said, "Monet is a savage and Lily is a thief!"

We laughed.  Ted said, "Milo and Monet received an F today."

I suggested, "Milo was defending himself.  Monet received an F."

"Lily received an F for being a thief!  Poppy and Milo should get an A".

I called Ted later to check on Milo.

Ted had braised a chicken for them.  He fed Milo chicken with sweet potato.

He was talking very sweetly to Milo.

Things were fine.

I told Ted many times I was sorry that happened.

Here are my savage, thief, and angel sleeping.

We never punish them or tell them no.

We just love them.

I am working on many 6x8's (oil on copper) currently!

This one is a scene at Bernard in Mount Desert Island at a lobster pound.

This is just a grey under painting.  I will let it dry and paint the color later.

Here is another 6x8 oil on copper in progress!

I saw this pink cottage with an elm tree in Castine.

Good night.

January 20, 2019 Painting Snow. Milo, Rescue Red Golden Retriever Personality Improves.

"Swains Family Pumpkin Farm" 20x26 oil on copper 1750$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping is included.

Here is a detal of the porch and house.

I painted a lady on the swing with a golden retriever next to her.

Here is a close up of the lady and dog!

The large cedar tree on the right looked better with more purples and more foliage.

I changed the color of the distant trees.

I completely changed the snow and pumpkins.

Lighter snow looks better.

I decided to repaint all the foliage and pumpkins.

The snow looks more convincing.

I had no intentions of repainting the entire painting.

I was going to touch up the sky and distant trees.

Then I decided to do this and do that and soon it was a new painting.

Here is the same painting before it was tweaked and overhauled!

I think it is much improved.  I am so glad!

Milo came to visit us yesterday before the snow storm!

When Milo first arrived at our house his eyes look cloudy and half closed.

I thought Milo might have cataracts.

Now his eyes are so beautiful, clear, and opened wide!

He didn't like anyone to take photographs of him when he first arrived.

Look at confident and healthy Milo looks now!

He poses for the camera.

The change is miraculous!

Milo was trying to hunt a chipmunk.

Ted asked Milo, "Milo did you get him?  I should have brought my sling shot to help you Milo!

Sorry about that buddy!  Wow watch Milo!  He is the best hunter I have ever seen!"

All this encouragement seems to make Milo feel very appreciated and loved.

He looks to Ted often because Ted talks to him constantly.

Bored with the chipmunk Milo saw 12 Canadian Snow Geese in the water!

He ran fast to catch a geese!

Ted called to Milo, "Stop!  Come back!  Milo!"

Right away Milo came back running as fast as any dog I have ever seen!

Lily and Poppy watched.

Monet was inside the house talking like Yosemite Sam.

I am so surprised to see such a change in an animal in only a month!

He once was a frightened, neglected, beaten, aggressive, sickly, dog.

Now he is thriving!

Ted is the perfect hero for Milo.

Monet and I varnished paintings today!

Good night.

January 18, 2019 Milo, The Rescued Red Golden Retriever UPDATE! Chicken Painting

Ted visited the vet to check on Milo's STD results from Milo's stud days at a puppy mill.

Milo's test results were negative!  No STD's were found!

Ted came over to visit us.  I let Lily and Poppy come outside.

The girls were afraid of Milo.

Milo doesn't show any signs of aggression now that he finished 30 days of doxycycline

for lyme disease.

Ted said Milo brings 20 plushy toys and 50 tennis balls into Ted's bed every night.

Ted said is is like sleeping on a massage bed!

He puts all the balls and toys back into a plastic tub every night.

Milo is very loving and gentle with Ted.

This morning Ted went outside to start up his truck.

It was snowing.

Ted told Milo, 'Let's go!"

Milo came over to Ted and leaned against him.

He looked into Ted's eyes with such love.

Ted said he was very touched.

At the vet Milo licked the lips of a few dogs present.

  Ted took Milo to Petco.

Milo walked around with Ted.

They bought a can of wet dog food as a treat.

People compliment Milo.

Ted loves to tell them all about Milo.

Milo gives Ted a chance to talk to everyone.

I think the strained relationships between Milo and Poppy and Lily will be

eased with future walks on the beach.

Monet has a memory like an elephant.

It will take time for Monet to forgive Milo for his shenanigans while he

stayed at our house.

Meanwhile Ted walks Milo at least 4 to 5 miles per day.

This helps Milo heal his mind from past trauma at the puppy mill.

Ted reports Milo is less nervous and more confident.

Monet was beside himself when Ted came inside our house.

He pounded his paws on Ted's chest and face!

Ted said Milo is more gentle with me than Monet.

Monet likes to rough me up but that is ok.

Ted was trying to brush Monet while Lily was interfering.

Monet put his mouth on Lily's head gently.

They play very lovingly together since they are Father and Daughter.

Ted told Monet he missed visiting with him.

He said he was taking care of Milo now.

"Milo is a good boy.  I love Milo".

Monet was rolling around on his back acting as cute as possible.

Monet trying to get Lily to stop interfering with Ted brushing him.

"Oh Lily let Ted brush me.  You know how I love to be brushed!"

Ted loves to talk about how healthy and athletic Milo is!

He said, "I have never seen a dog like Milo!  He is amazing!"

I never get tired of hearing Ted gush over Milo.

Ted is so much healthier and happier.

"On The Fence" 6x6 oil on copper 350$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping included.

Meanwhile I have been painting chickens!

I have painted over 50 6x6 chicken paintings over the last 10 years.

I am going to start to paint something new.

Snow paintings or laundry paintings will be painted!

Good night.

January 16, 2019 Lily Visits Milo The Red Golden Retriever Rescue At His House! Two Chicken Paintings

Lily was sitting on my lap this morning.  I asked her if she might like to visit Milo?

She was up for an adventure!

Milo and Ted were happy for our visit.

Lily was not in season.

She growled at Milo who just wanted to play.

Milo was very well behaved.

Milo didn't mind all of Lily's growling and charging at him.

After Lily chased Milo and growled at him a few times, I put Lily in the car, and Milo

and I visited.

Milo had a few cute moves.  He hopped into the air and danced for Lily.

Lily was not impressed.

Ted thought Milo was super cute!  "Did you see that?  Milo has the moves!"

Milo has finished all his doxycycline, antibiotics, to treat Lyme Disease.

He looks healthy and so happy.

Ted is very proud of Milo.

He continues to take Milo everywhere!

"Everyone loves Milo" says Ted.

Ted is trying to teach Milo it is ok for him to bark.

Someone trained Milo not to bark.

He will bark if no human is around.

Last night Milo was snuggling with Ted in his bed with all 20 of his dog toys.

Milo heard something outside.  There are coyotes and wolves in the 200 acres.

Milo barked a few times!

Ted congratulated Milo.  He told him he was a good boy.

Milo was trying to protect Ted.

"Shook, Shimmy n' Shake" 6x6 oil on copper 350$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping included.

I decided to name this painting after a 1965 song.

I saw a video of people dancing and they were shaking and twisting!

It is fun painting feathers.

I like to paint the light on these feathers.

"Sun Goddesses" 6x6 oil on copper 350$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping is included.

I darkened the surroundings to allow the feathers to shine!

We are getting many days of snow soon.

I am looking forward to painting snow.

Good night!

January 13, 2019 Update on Milo, The Red Golden Retriever Rescued. Two Chicken Paintings To See!

Ted came to visit us with Milo this afternoon.

Milo can't visit with my goldens because the girls are in season.

Milo is looking much healthier and happier.

Ted loves to talk about Milo!

Milo doesn't bark when he wants to go outside.  He brings Ted his boots and socks!

This is how he tells Ted is it time to go out!

Ted loves to talk about what an athlete Milo is!

He can run over fallen trees, chase deer, and is fast!

He takes off in the woods but he does come back if Ted whistles.

They have been visiting people and their dogs at their house.

He loves to run with the dogs at the beach.

He loves to cuddle with Ted in his bed while they both watch TV.

He has an incredible appetite.  He is eating Mulligan Stew.

Milo looks more physically fit.  Ted also looks more healthy and trimmer!

Oh what a sweet tooth this boy has..said Ted!

Milo gets one donut every week.  But Milo finds the bag, sneaks into the back

seat of the car, and eats my donut too!  At the house Milo finds the donuts

on the table and eats them!

Ted takes Milo is all the stores.  He says, "I won't leave Milo in the car.  That's not right."

At Renys, Milo and Ted sat on a bench where the cash register is located.

They both greeted everyone leaving the store.

Ted told them all about Milo's rescue.  People loved it.

They said it was lucky Milo was rescued and treated for Lyme disease.

Milo even goes into grocery stores.  He does very well inside.

He behaves himself.  He loves greeting people.

I asked if Milo eats a few things he sees in the store?  Oh no.  Milo is a good boy.

Ted didn't want to go inside our house and leave Milo in his car.

He said, "Milo doesn't like that.

The last time I visited your dogs inside, Milo barked.

He tore up one of my gloves in the car.

I had to buy him a t bone steak that day."

I said, "You bought Milo a steak?"

He said, "Yes, Milo was put out because I was visiting your dogs.

He wanted to be inside the house too.

Your girls were in season.  He was all bent out of shape about that.

So I bought him and I a steak!

We cooked it and both ate it.  He felt much better.

I told him I would not do that again."

Look at the shine on Milo's hair.  Wow.

Ted also is convinced Milo was once a show dog.  Westminister!

He was telling people at the stores that Milo was a show dog.

He mispronounced Westminister.  People caught on that this might not be true.

But they went along with Ted's idea that Milo was once a Champion of the Westminister

dog show.  "He is perfect!  Look at him! Have you ever seen such a dog?"

Ted is hilarious.

Robert and I both are so happy our friend Ted is happy once again.  Hooray!

"Electric Rooster" 6x6 oil on copper 350$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping included.

When I finished this painting, the title "Electric Rooster" came into my mind.

I do not know where that title came from!  How strange.  But I think it works.

"I Ate The Whole Thing!" 6x6 oil on copper 350$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping included.

I love nice plump chickens.  Skinny chickens are not as attractive!  This hen was

so gorgeous!  I decided to paint flowers in the background.  It is fun trying to create the

round softness of a hen.

Good night!

"Little Buddies" 4x5 oil on copper   Private Collection.

Here is the last teddy bear painting I will do for awhile!

I put all the teddy bears away in a plastic container.

Lily figured out how to open it up!

Lily put her teeth on a few bears.

She saw me and decided she should leave my bears alone.

"Blue Bows" 4x5 oil on copper 125$ framed and shipped.

I decided to add the blue bows after I completed the bears.

The bows seemed to add a cool color to the painting.

The bows added character and unified the bears.

I used a yellow silk blouse for the background.

This is my favorite bear.

Painting three bears into a 4x5 is the most difficult task.

Here are all eight of the bear paintings completed!

I can not paint another bear for a few more years!

It was great fun while it lasted!

Time to paint something else!

Monet spent many hours these last few days sitting on my lap admiring the bears.

Monet thinks all teddy bears are his bears!

He cried and whimpered a lot.

I finally let him have two of my teddy bears.

He was so happy to be given this red bear.  Lily was admiring the bear too.

I never painted this bear.  Monet cleaned the bear, bit it a few times, tossed it around.

I supervised him with this bear because it was not doggy teddy bear.

Lily and Poppy played tug of war with the teddy bear.

Have a great night!  Let's paint some snow!

January 4, 2019 Plein Air at A Castine Lighthouse! Milo Comes To Call!

"Castine Sunset at Dyce's Head" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.

shipping is included in the price.

I decided to go paint plein air today in Castine, Maine.

My favorite place to paint is at Dyce's Head.  There is a wonderful parking spot overlooking

this lighthouse.  The light was not great when I started to paint.

It was 1:00 pm.  I hoped by 4:00 pm there might be wonderful golds in the sky!

This is exactly what happened.

Bright orange started to show at the horizon.  This orange was much brighter than in

the photo.  Warm colors never seem to translate well in photos.  This orange became

bright yellows in the next twenty minutes.  I painted that blazing horizon.

Then I noticed the yellows in the sky was creating shimmery light in the shadows!

The whole scene came alive..not shown in the photo.

What an inspiration is was to get outside to paint.

Milo came to visit this morning.  He asked very nicely, "Oh Mrs. Renee, will you

please let your girls out to play with me?"  He was so gentlemanly about it.

Ted promised nothing would happen.  I told them both the girls had to stay

inside the house!   Milo is looking very healthy.  He is one happy boy now!

Ted put Milo inside his truck.

Then Ted visited with my three golden retrievers who were waiting in the house.

We all enjoyed the visit.

I am so happy Milo continues to thrive under Ted's care.

Ted looks healthier too!

This beautiful house is right across the street from us.

The house is the oldest in Bucksport.  The infamous Colonel Jonathan Buck once lived here.

He sold off 200 acres in the 1920's, called Plantation 1.  Our house was built on one of these acres.

His grave site, located in the center of town, has a black foot showing on his grave monument.

They wash his granite stone but the back foot comes back!

They have also replaced the granite twice!  The foot still comes back.

The tale is:  A witch was burned.  Her last words put a curse on Colonel Buck tomb.

Although Colonel Buck was the Justice Of The Peace in Bucksport, he didn't have the authority

to put anyone to death by burning.  There were no witches on trial during this time period.

The witch hunt was much earlier in history.

No witch was ever on trail or accused in the state of Maine.

The foot did not appear on his monument until 75 years later.

His real granite headstone is unaffected.  I think it is just a tale.

Let get outside to paint some snow!  Good night.

January 2, 2019 Feeling Grateful! Lily Brings Me A Card with Golden Retriever Puppies!

Lily entertains us all by bringing stolen items to us.

Today she found this beautiful Christmas card.

She brought it to me growling at the same time.

She was wagging her tail like crazy.

I asked her if she wanted to have puppies this year?

She wagged her tail more and growled.

I had a difficult time getting my card back!

Who knows Lily?

I found myself feeling grateful.  Robert was sitting to the right..and doesn't like being photographed.

He was there!  We had Ted over.  Milo was hanging out in his truck.  Milo is doing great.

Milo continues to get healthier and learn new things.

Ted raves about Milo's new disposition, how athletic Milo is, and how wonderful he is!

I cooked a roast!  Lily was checking it out.  There are very few 'no's' in our house.

Lily is very precocious.

I am sure her parent's Monet and Poppy are shocked by some of the things she does.

"Oh Lily!"

"Bella's Home" 14x20 oil on copper.  950$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping included.

  I reworked a few paintings.

Here is the old painting before the changes.

I reworked the sky, added clouds, reworked the mountains, adding gradation, reworked

the distant trees, added sky holes,  changed the driveway, made it more round.

"Schoodic View of Rolling Island" 14x20 oil on copper.  950$ framed in gold or black with gold.

shipping included in the price.

I lighted the distant island, painted better tree tops, painted seagulls, painted two people.

I painted more white foam around the island, removing the dark shoreline,  painted

the distant land behind this island.  That was it!

Here is the old painting before the changes.  This was 100% plein air.

"Blooms" 20x14 oil on copper 950$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping included.

I repainted the background.  The mood is much nicer now.

Here is the old painting before the changes.  The dark purple background was just

too creepy!  This was a 100% plein air piece.  Sometimes they just need a fresh eye

and a little tweaking!

I am attending Stapleton Kearns Snow Camp in Sugar Hill, New Hampshire

February 22-25.  This should be fun.  I hope I learn something new!

Good night.
