October 31, 2016 True Creepy Tale In Bass Harbor. Painted Green Cottage!

I am proud of myself for driving to Mount Desert Island, Bass Harbor to paint even though

it was freezing!  Yes I did it!  It is not easy to motivate yourself sometimes to go paint.

I knew once I was out there I would get into the 'mood'.  I have been given permission

to paint this beautiful green cottage with an ocean view.

First I drew a thumbnail sketch using my www.Sketch-N-Can.com .

At 5:00pm the sunsets.  Time to drive home!

Every Halloween people have placed their pumpkins on the bridge crossing a marsh.

I always think of the young man who was found face down in the water beyond the pumpkins.

He was hit by a car late one night, flew over the concrete rail where these pumpkins are sitting,

and drown.  He was not found until days later.  He was not well liked in town because he did

bad things.  When he died most people were relieved.  This is the story I was told by a local

resident.  I thought is was a creepy true story to tell on Halloween.

I hope you see the mask in the driver's seat.

I visited the little farm in Bernard on Mount Desert Island.  Such happy animals.

Have a great night.  I hope to drive back to Mount Desert Island to finish my painting.

Happy Halloween.

October 30, 2016 My Paintings Goals! Painting Bigger!

"Autumn" 2 3/4 x 4 inches unframed and shipped free 75$.

I found the easel I need to paint larger outdoors.

It took some cleaning to find it!

I dragged it, pulled it, and put the thing into the van.

I use a drawing horse or the Take it easel.

My plan is to paint more larger paintings.

Yep!  That is my plan!

What size?  11x14, 20x26, and 30x40, and 36x48 plein air!

I can do this.  It just takes planning to paint larger.

I may need to work a part time job to support my larger painting habit.

But maybe people might like my larger paintings.  I need to take the chance.

I would like to grow as an artist.

I am not sure if I can do that only painting small works.

The above tiny painting is of my favorite field on Hatchery Road in Orland, Maine.

Maybe I will paint a tiny painting of the scene I might paint larger.

"The Model" 14x20 oil on copper 250$ special framed in gold.  Shipped.

I was able to photograph this painting outside today with my Canon 7D.

I think this is my favorite nude painting completed so far.

I hope to meet on Fridays to continue my study of painting people.

"Zinnia Delight" 14x20 oil on copper.  Sold last week.  Thank you.

Here is a better photo of this painting.

"Joyful Zinnias" 11x14 oil on copper. sold last week.

Here is a much better photo of my zinnia painting.

The dogs are so pleased Robert is home!  They were given a new toy!

They went to the beach.  They played so hard!  They are fast asleep right now.

Good night!

October 29, 2016 Artist Can Not Decide What to Paint!

I spent several hours looking at Fall photos trying to decide what to paint!

I never have a problem finding something to paint when I drive to an area.

Maybe this is another advantage of plein air painting.

All the photos looked like great subjects.

I placed a new 20x26 copper panel on my easel.

I was going to paint this photo!  But I wasn't feeling that great.

I always ask myself if I would want this painting in my house?

This saves me a lot of time not painting quirky subjects.

The problem is:  In Maine there are so many beautiful scenes artists get spoiled!

There is great scenes, average scenes, fantastic scenes, grey scenes, and super amazing scenes!

I loved the photo above but them I said to myself. "There is no water."

I should have told myself, "Who cares if there is no water!  It is a beautiful tree!"

   There are too many choices.

I have been admiring this photo above for years!  But I keep worrying the dirt road might

look snake like.  I should just paint all these photos and be done with it!

   Tomorrow is another day.

I touched up many paintings today so it was not a loss.

Robert went out of town for the night to learn more about taping people up to

decrease pain.  He is a very talented physical therapist.

The dogs required more attention because Robert didn't come home.

Where is he?  They stood at the window watching for hours.

I told them he wasn't coming home.  They understood me.

When it was time to go to sleep, I asked them all to come upstairs, then I turned on the

light to Robert's room so they would climb in their beds.

They reluctantly climbed into bed with sad long faces.

They enjoyed my breakfasts and dinners!

I gave them homemade applesauce with roasted chicken over their dry dog food.

I gave them raw green beans for a snack.

We will be glad when Robert comes home tonight.

Robert was missed by all of us!  Good night.

October 28, 2016 Long Day Portrait and Life Drawing Class!

Here is my two hour efforts at portrait class today.  I wiped off my painting two times to end up with this one!

I was rusty at life drawing.  I decided to sketch with oils on copper 14x20.

It was a lot of fun today.  I brought a dozen glazed donuts, a pound of sliced cheese, and crackers.

Five of us ate all the donuts and cheese in seven hours.  I had forgotten a beverage to go along with the snacks.

One artist said, "I am so thirsty.  Does anyone have any water?"  They hacked a few times.

They had a dry throat.

"The Model" 14x20 oil on copper.  250$ unframed or 300$ framed in gold.  Shipping included.

There is a glare from the overhead lights.  I will take a better photo tomorrow.

I painted in the heater behind the artist and also the tape used to keep her in the same spot.

I worked on this painting for four hours tonight.  Heather is a great model.

She never moves.  She is a very nice person.

Lily sits on my lap more than usual.  She tries to keep Monet from climbing into my lap.

I think Lily and Monet are fighting over my attention.  I give them equal attention.

A skunk has made a habit from searching for food in our yard after dark.

So far we have been lucky to find him, ask him to move along, and have not been sprayed.

Good night.

October 27, 2016 Tiny Autumn Oils On Copper Paintings! Few Zinnias Done in Gouache!

"Woodshed" 2 3/4 x 4 inch 75$ unframed and shipped.

I sat in my van to paint this tiny oil on copper painting!

I admired this old tar paper covered woodshed.  I waited for the sun to shine.  Then I painted the

glowing leaves.

"Autumn Alamoosook Lake" 2 3/4 x 4 oil on copper 75$ unframed and shipped.

I admired the light blue light on the lake from the sun above.  It was challenging to

paint the warm reflections from the highlighted clouds above in the lake.

Here are a few more new zinnia sketches done with ink and gouache 5x7.

I like how this one came out. I will save it for a Birthday Card coming up!

These 5x7 gouache paintings take an hour to do.

The zinnia really was this brightly colored!

Robert just left with Monet, Poppy, and Lily for a sunset run on the beach!

Have a good night.

October 26, 2016 Mixed Media Zinnia Sketches!

Maine has been chilly and grey outside!  Time for warm clothing and shoes!

I think it is time for the wood fire to get going!  It is cold inside the house.

I did manage a few mix media sketches.

This is ink and watercolor.  Size is 5x7.  I will send them to clients as Thank you cards.

This one is ink, watercolor, and Stabilo woodys.

This one is ink with colored pencils.

I need to get motivated to plein air Autumn foliage!

Good night.

October 24, 2016 Beautiful Autumn Drive To Pemaquid, Maine!

I received an A from the dentist!

I decided to pick up my paintings in Pemaquid, Maine!

It was a beautiful ride!

I stopped at a vegetable stand in Waldoboro.  I saw Wolf River apples!

They were huge as I expected.

One apple can be made into one pie.

Behind the stand was a giant Wolf River apple tree.  It was spectacular.

Wolf River apples are a very ancient apple type.

Pemaquid Lighthouse was dramatic.

Surf was so high there was an orange flag flying at the Pemaquid Lighthouse entrance.

Great day spent in Maine!  Good night.

October 23, 2016 New Video Showing Process Oil on Copper Painting!

I needed a break from painting today.

I rearranged zinnias and photographed them for painting later.

I made another apple crisp!

I baked red sock eyed salmon with sliced almonds for dinner.

I created another video created with photos demonstrating painting oil copper!

I share the new brush I use to draw on the copper.

October 22, 2016 Larger Zinnia Painting Finished!

"Zinnia Delight" 14x2o oil on copper  Sold.  Thanks!

I started work on this new zinnia painting after breakfast yesterday.

At 1:00am Lily tried to climb into my lap while I was painting.

She wanted to go to sleep!  She waits for me downstairs until bedtime.

I decided the dog was right!   Fifteen hours straight painting zinnias was enough for one day!

I felt so much fresher in the morning.  I tackled the beautiful fushia colored zinnia on the left

and decided to add light blue highlights.

Lily and Monet wanted me to quit painting to play with them.  So they climbed behind me in my chair.

They decided to wrestle.  The chair was shaking.  Robert came home just in time to take them to the beach!

I continued to paint!

I finally finished the painting tonight!  I posted the painting and found a buyer right away. Thank you!

I am so glad!  The zinnias are still looking fresh but I am tired.

Apple crisp to the rescue!  Good night.

October 21, 2016 Video Demonstration Oil Paints On Copper Of Zinnias!

"Joyful Zinnias" 11x14 oil on copper  Sold.  Thanks.

I worked from 4:00pm till 12:00am intensely painting zinnias yesterday!

It was so much fun to draw each zinnia and paint them.  Zinnias are a favorite flower of mine!

I created a video of photos showing the process of painting this painting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqtKZUjyJgg

I always gave my golden retrievers Frosty Paws Doggy ice cream when I sold a painting.

My young golden retriever are allergic to the soy product in this Frosty Paws.

I know it is not safe to make your own ice cream from yogurt because dairy can cause tumors.

The solution was to order the monthly Bark Box!

Here they are with their new toys.

They know when their Bark Box arrives.  They can't wait till I open the box.

Lily always jumps up and grabs a toy!

Monet loves to sit in the drivers seat.  He looks like he is driving!

Lily is learning to carry a large stick down the beach just as her Mom does!

We spent a wonderful three hours yesterday morning playing together.

When Robert came home from work he took over exercising them!

What a stunning golden retriever Lily has become.  She was always beautiful.

I still can not wrap my head about her first owners giving her back to us.

She has been an angel here.  Maybe she just wanted to come back home.  Hee Hee.

Poppy loves to carry a big stick.  She feels the sense of duty.  We tell her what a great job

she is doing to carry that big stick.

Good night!

October 20, 2016 Chickens Running For Meal Worms Painting!

"Meal Worms!" 6x6 oil on copper 350$ framed in gold.  Shipped.

I have been studying about chickens this last year.  I joined a group on Facebook.

The people and their chickens live in England.  I have learned how difficult it is to raise

chickens.  Chickens have all kinds of different aliments.  I have learned they love meal worms!

I have also learned many chickens like to be hugged.  Some people have chickens living

inside of their house!   There are people who even have their chickens wearing clothing.

I have a great appreciation for these chicken lovers.  I only eat turkey now.

These chickens in the painting were running down the hill to get their share of meal worms.

Here are a few photos of Stonington.

I still think Stonington is the best place in Maine to paint.

I guess someone ran out of blue paint!   It is difficult to buy paint in Stonington, Maine.

I ordered 20 pieces of 11x14 copper panels and 6 pieces of 20x26!

So exciting to have plenty of copper to paint on again!

Now I will order more tubes of oil paint to keep me busy this Winter.

I hope to paint many snow scenes!

Good night.

Octobert 18, 2016 Stonington Painting From Green Island! Cute Chicken Painting To See!

"Mother Daughter Talk" 6x6 oil on copper 350$ framed in gold.  Shipped.

Last night I decided to continue my long time series of 6x6 chickens.

I have a few collectors who only purchase my chicken paintings.

I am always searching for good looking chickens to paint.

I like to paint nice plumb chickens.   They have to look pretty.

I have a friend in England who takes in stray chickens.

He takes good care of them until they grow feathers, start to lay eggs, and produce chicks.

Then he either keeps them or finds them a forever home.  This is one of his rescues.

I always send him a print for the use of his pretty chicken photo!

My Bucksport neighbor artist Linda and her friend Barbara followed me in their car to Stonington.

It is always nice to have two vehicles when painting plein air with three of us.

We all decided this view perfect to paint.  We were out of the wind.  Temperatures had to be 40s.

I decided rather late in the process of painting to add the rock foreground.

Now there is a strong foreground, middle ground, and background.

I decided to paint a few seagulls into the painting.  This requires lots of practice.

I think these seagulls added en plein air look more natural then added later with use of an image.

I wiped a few seagull painting efforts out of the painting but most of them were good.

I liked the two seagulls dipping into the water trying to catch a minnow.

A man drove up in his truck while we were painting.

He told us the rain was on it's way.

How nice of him.  He was smiling and very happy to see us working.

Stonington people have been very nice to me.

They really appreciate artists working.

Here is a photo of the scene we were painting.  Colors always look darker from a photo.

This photo zoomed in seems more like the scene we were painting.  Maybe the colors were

more intense on location than the photo.

What a great day!  Good night.

"Happy Zinnias" 11x14 oil on copper.  Sold off my website today.  Thank you.

I was getting very low on Cobalt blue and Cadmium Yellow Light!  Whew!

Now I won't need to worry for a while about oil paint!  Yikes.  Thanks.

October 17, 2016 Taking A Closer Look At Famous Flower Paintings!

I researched famous flower paintings on the internet last night.

I really liked this zinnia painting by Eugene Delacroix.

Here is a close up of the wonderful Henri Fantin Latour's flower painting.

Henri Fantin Latour might be my favorite flower painter at the moment.

He drew and painted the flower as it was.

These are just close up photos of his painting.

Odilon Redon painted wonderful flower paintings.

This Odilon Redon painting is so interesting combining flowers with a portrait.

Here is a Paul Cezanne flower painting.

Van Gogh painted wonderful emotional flowers.  Here is a close up view of a section.

"Happy Zinnias" 11x14 oil on copper  475$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipped.

I finished this painting today.  I just finished a new chicken painting tonight!

I will share this new chicken painting tomorrow.

I am heading to Stonington, Maine with two artists to paint tomorrow!

We hope to stay for the sunset.  I will share Stonington photos tomorrow!

Good night.

October 16, 2016 Experimenting today on my Zinnia Painting!

Here is the zinnia painting I started yesterday.

I did something different today.  I experimented with a size 10 Old Holland kolinsky round brush.

After I finished all the leaves, I made swiping motions over the leaves, and destroyed edges.

I also swiped into some of the flowers edges.

I took my 10 round loaded with ivory black oils mixed with quinacridone red and outlined some

of the flowers and leaves.  Then I painted the flower again covering up most of the black/red line.

I used the 10 round brush again with a blue green grey color and lined a few leaves.

I like experimenting.  If I like the painting then I keep the experimented area.  If I don't

like the experiment, I can paint over that area.  So far I think it is more interesting.

Here is a close up.

Robert and I picked a large brown bag of apples today at Wrights Apple Orchard.

There were great apples on the ground.  They only charged us 3$!

Robert peeled the apples.  We cut the apples up.  Poppy and Lily helped themselves

to apples right out of the bag.  It was like an all you can eat apple buffet.

We made three large apple crisps.

Then Robert baked liver for the pups dinner.

The dogs had a great day!  I took them to the beach, then they played outside,

and then they ran next door to meet the neighbor and his dog!

Lily went inside their house!

Then I gave Lily a aluminum foil cardboard roll to play with.

Lily walked around the house carrying the roll for a while.  She could not get past Monet.

She tried to growl at him to move.  We all laughed.  Lily is hilarious.

Have a good night!

October 15, 2016 Back Home In Maine To Paint Zinnas At The Beach!

I discovered thousands of zinnias growing by the sea!

The homeowners went South for the Winter.  Ted and Luke told me it would be fine to paint there.

He said if anyone asked to let them know Ted said it was fine.

I brought my new Bucksport neighborhood painter with me, Linda.

What a beautiful scene to paint.  I will bring this painting back to finish tomorrow!

Luke looked beautiful today with the Autumn colors.

I called Luke's name to get this shot!

Luke moves quickly for a nine year old Golden Retriever!

Luke was photogenic today as usual.

I had the best greeting from my dogs when I came home!

I think the greeting last for ten minutes.  Monet even whimpered.

Later Monet climbed into my lap while I brushed out his tail.

Lily climbed up into my lap later.

Poppy was a little apprehensive about my arrival.  She sat back and watched.

The next morning Poppy was happy to see me.  I think she smiled as she came to get petted.

Home again feels so great!  Good night!

October 12, 2016 Landscape Along I- 95 From Florida To Maine!

I started driving from Winter Park, Florida to Maine two days ago.

I decided to take a few photos during my drive particularly when I was on a bridge!

I started to photograph the landscape after Jacksonville, Florida.

There are a lot of marshes between Florida and North Carolina along I 95.

Things went smoothly until I drove to North Carolina.  I 95 was closed for flooding.

I took 74 West off I 95 to avoid the flooded roads.  I drove an hour.

Then I decided to sleep in the parking lot of a Walmart somewhere in North Carolina.

There were no hotel rooms available.  So many homes had been flooded.  People

went to the hotels for shelter.  Many people were also sleeping in their cars at Walmart.

I drove from 11 am till 9pm the first day.  It was a long stressful day because of hurricane damage.

The Carolinas have many beautiful pines and marsh.

The road in South and North Carolinas were full of these power trucks.

License plates of these trucks revealed LA, Texas, Indian, and more states!

They were all there to help with down power lines.

Today was an interesting adventure trying to get out of North Carolina without using

I 95.  Back roads seemed to be the way to go.

This scene was so beautiful I allowed the car to roll along without gas until it stopped.

There was no traffic behind me or in front of me.  I wondered if this was tobacco?

Both homes were abandoned.  No I didn't go inside.  My imagination was going!

The thought of snakes made me stay inside of the car.

What a beautiful scene!

I am glad I brought two apples, two kiwi, and two small bags of popcorn.

I tried to eat chicken at a restaurant but there were so many people.

I ate an apple, a kiwi, a bag of popcorn, and three or four diet mt dews.

I think I saw cotton in North Carolina!

I went through Washington, D.C. at rush hour.  Then I came upon this view in Virginia.

In Maryland I decided to find a Hampton Inn.  I was lucky they had a room!

What a treat after sleeping in the van at a Walmart in 50 degree weather last night.

This Hampton Inn room is very nice.  Luxurious!  I can not wait for all you can eat

oatmeal with brown sugar and berry and nuts tomorrow morning.

Guess who these two kids are?

This is my Brother Jim and I when we were about 5 and 3 years old.

My Mom had asked me to bring Jimmy here and hold on to him for a photo.

He had tried to run off.  I captured him.  I remember being very happy.

My Mom had sewed this dress for me.  I remember the fabric was very soft.

I always felt special in her dresses.  They were each unique and had nice lace collars.

I have eleven hours to drive tomorrow to be home in Maine.  It will be a long day.

Have a good night.  It will be nice to be at home in Maine!

October 8, 2016 Watching Cowboy Movies With Mom.

I took the day off from painting to watch cowboy movies with my Mom.

I am getting ready to drive back to Maine in a few days.  I don't want wet oil paintings

in the van for the drive.    Dad was around taking

care of fallen branches from the Hurricane.  Dad roasted peanuts in the oven.

Mom made another cake.  The last cowboy movie we watched was "Red River" with John Wayne.

I like to watch cowboy movies.  My Mom always points out the scenery in the background.

We like to laugh at some of the comments.  "Red River" was a great movie.  I am

glad I saw it with Mom.

New Smyrna Beach lost all electrical power.  The Cape Canaveral Paint Out Gala was canceled.

Tomorrow the gallery at the Barracuda Street location will be open.

They will find generators for lights.  I will drive over for the day and night to help.

Patrons will be called.  They will be notified the gallery is open on Sunday to see paintings.

All the artists worked hard.  I hope the people of New Smyrna Beach come out to support

the artists.

    Good night.

October 7, 2016 Hurricane Matthew Moved On! Monet, Lily, Poppy Go To Beach!

Robert has been taking the pups to the beach after work.

Lily looks great!

Lily has managed to climb on top of the three foot remains of a mill!

Monet looks great!  Poppy carried that big stick all the way down the beach!

"New Smyrna Beach Life Guard" 11x14 oil on copper.  Framed in black with gold.  Shipped.

I tried to sleep last night during severe winds and strange noises.

This morning I woke up hoping the Hurricane Matthew would be gone.

Instead I learned the storm would be a direct hit over New Smyrna Beach where the

Cape Canaveral Paint Out was!  We would see the most severe winds in Winter Park

later in the day.

I decided to work more on this painting.  I reworked the flag, clouds, and waves.

The winds were high in Winter Park.  The trees stayed upright!

The storm moved on.  We are all fine.

New Smyrna Beach has lost it's electric power.  The paint out gala was tomorrow night.

I wonder if they can start the entire paint out over again!  Wouldn't this be great?

Good night.

October 6, 2016 Painting My Way Through Hurricane Matthew!

"New Smyrna Life Guard"  11x14 oil on copper.  475$ framed in black with gold.  shipped.

One way to get through a category 4 hurricane is to paint!

I decided to work on this life guard I saw at New Smyrna Beach.

I will take a better photo after the hurricane is gone.  We are not suppose to go outside!

My Mom kept me company while I painted today.  We watched a few different weather stations.

We should expect 50-80 mph winds here in Winter Park, Florida late tonight.

I hope all the artists participating in the Cape Canaveral Paint out are safe!

All the volunteers for the paint out might still be in New Smyrna Beach.

There is a mandatory evacuation for this area.  I will keep them in my prayers.

Here is the smoked whitefish I purchased!  I deboned the fish and made a fish dip.

Now we have 8 cups of rich smoked whitefish dip!

Bruce reported all the dogs are doing well.

Monet and Lily played together with a stick.

They were having a great time!

Ziva is doing fine.  She had a bad fever recently.  She had IVs until she recovered.

Monet barked for a while.  He saw a tennis ball in the bushes behind the fence.

When Bruce let him out, he found the ball, and came running up the hill!  He was proud.

I am glad I am with my parents in Winter Park, Florida.  It is good I am here during the hurricane.

We will all weather the hurricane together.

I am going to get the trash cans, bring them into a screen room, and tie they down.

We may not have electricity or internet for a while.  I will be back here soon.  Good night.

UPDATE:   We all made it through the night fine.  The storm was slower to approach than

they anticipated.  The worst is yet to come here in Winter Park..11-1pm.

The storm is directly hitting New Smyrna Beach right now at 1oam.

October 5, 2016 Two New Smyrna Beach Paintings! Waiting For The Hurricane!

"Au Naturel" 11x14 oil on copper 475$ framed in black with gold.  Shipped.

I have painted two paintings showing Florida's natural vegetation at New Smyrna Beach.

I find it difficult to paint palm frons.  There is a scary feeling about this landscape.  There are

all kinds of snakes, rabid raccoons, bob cats, and other wild animals living in the brush.

I tried to make the scene look pleasant by adding the blooming cactus and gold flowers.

Adding purples really helped make the scene happy.

"Wave Watchers" 11x14 oil on copper 475$ framed in black with gold.  Shipped.

I have been painting at my parent's house in Winter Park.  I worked from New Smyrna Beach

images taken on Tuesday when the sun was out!  I loved the lady's white hat!  This was such

a difficult painting for me!  Glad it is finished.

"Cork Screw Blues" 4x5 oil on copper.  Donated to host.

"After The Storm" 4x5 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thank you.

"Canoist Wanted" 5x7 oil on copper.  Donated to Host.

"Sailing Into Mosquito Lagoon" 4x5 oil on copper Sold.  thanks.

"Eldora House" 4x5 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thanks.

Painter friend Joe, participating in the Cape Canaveral Seashore Paint out, told me

some of the activities are canceled today and tomorrow.  They think the Friday and Saturday

events will still be on!  Many artists have left for safety reasons.

He also said one of my paintings was gone, probably sold.

He said three other of my paintings had a sold sign on them.

I am so grateful.

Many people in Florida are evacuating.

My parents and I are stay here in their house in Winter Park.

My Brother and his wife are staying in their house in Longwood.  I hope we will all be safe.

I bought a 2.25 pound smoked white fish complete with head and tail to contribute.

I also bought 6 cookies.

My Brother Jim brought us a generator.

I guess all we need to do now is wait.  Good luck to those in Florida and South Carolina.

The dogs tore up a toy.  Monet collected five toys and rolled on them just after

Bruce had brushed him.

Poppy and Ziva stared at the grass beyond the fence.

They heard something moving in there.  Could it have been a bobcat or a Canadian Lynx?

Here is a Canadian Lynx.  There are 1000 of them in Maine.  They can weigh over 100 pounds.

Robert thought he saw a large cat over 100 pounds a week ago in our neighbor's yard!

Have a good night!

October 4, 2016 Spending Two Days In Winter Park Until Hurricane Leaves!

I decided to drive back to Winter Park where my parent's live until the hurricane passes!

Winds were about 30mph in New Smyrna Beach today.  I painted at the end of Flagler Avenue.

I painted the lifeguard tower behind me.

With the high winds and the threat of the hurricane, category 4, I decided to not take a chance.

I didn't want to be trapped at New Smyrna Beach.  There are only a couple of bridges to get to the mainland.

The paint out is continuing.  They are expecting serious rain on Thursday.  The hurricane

looks like it is heading straight for Florida.  Florida's governor told us to watch the news

and be ready to evacuate Florida.  I am here painting at my parent's house!

I will head back over to New Smyrna Beach Friday if the weather is safer!

I will be back for the gala/reception on Saturday.

The little black lab puppy was in the enclosure for the dogs this morning when Bruce arrived.

The puppy was hiding.  Poppy found him and chased him out of the private doggy park.

The puppy ran down US Route 1 in the direction of Mc Donalds.  Bruce called animal

control.  The puppy came back to the house.  He ran into the enclosure.  He played

with a few doggy toys.  Bruce tried to catch him.  But the puppy ran away again.

Hopefully animal control will catch him so he will be safe.

Robert says if he is there tomorrow he will feed him and let him in the house.

Both Bruce with Ziva and Maddie, and Ted with Luke, visited the dogs today at separate times.

They do look very content in the photo.

Lily was trying to take a toy away from Monet.

Two Blue Herons flew over our yard.  Monet's eyes were large!  Big bird!

I am very happy to have two great dog sitters.  Thank you.  They look happy.

I just finished a 11x14 beach scene with big waves, chairs, people!  Good night!

October 3, 2016 Three New Smyrna Beach Paintings Oil On Copper!

"Ready And Willing" 5x7 oil on copper Donated to Host.  Thanks.

I saw these beautiful shinny aluminum canoes by Mosquito Lagoon near the Cape

Canaveral National Seashore Activity Center.  A snake jumped out of the tree to my right

as I was painting.  I heard a thud as the snake landed.  The snake held his head up and looked

around.  I didn't move for a while till the snake left!

"Sailing Mosquito Lagoon" 4x5 oil on copper sold. Thanks.

While it was sprinkling today many artists gathered to paint underneath the pavilion

in the National Park.  They had wonderful sandwiches for us to eat!

I decided to paint a sailboat into the painting even though it was not seen.

"Eldora House" 4x5 oil on copper.  sold.  Thanks.

I decided to stand on the dock in front of the Eldora House.  The view was nice with

the water.  There was a pleasant breeze coming off of the water.

Dolphins swam by a few times.  A few manatees splashed under the dock.

Painting this small is difficult.  Especially when painting houses.  I prefer to use a flat brush

to make vertical lines and windows.  It seems to make nicer strokes than a rigger or a round brush.

Brown Pelicans flew over my head this morning.

Liked these two puddles on the road to Eldora House.

Two dogs, a beagle and a small black lab, both males, showed up at my

house in Maine's back door waiting for Poppy and Lily.  Monet barked like crazy.

Bruce, the doggy sitter, put our dogs on leashes to get them to their private doggy park.

Bruce's dog Ziva has been very ill with a virus.  He kept both his golden retrievers in his

car.  I hope Ziva recovers.  She started eating today.  She is getting IV at the vet now for a

few days.  She had a temperature of 104.  She is about 9 years old.

I will say a special prayer for Ziva to recover.

Have a good night!

"Timeless" 14x20 oil on copper.  950$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping included in USA.

I worked for a few days on this new painting!  So glad I was able to complete the painting today.

I will head to New Smyrna Beach tomorrow morning to begin the Cape Canaveral Seashore Invitational

Paint out!  There is a huge hurricane category 4 out in the ocean approaching Jamaica at the moment.

I hope all my Jamaican artist friends will weather the storm.  My thoughts are with them tonight.

They live in tiny board houses.  Frightening.  I hope they seek shelter.

I wonder if the hurricane will impact the plein air event.  Good Night.
