July 20, 2026 Three Tiny Old Florida Oils Paintings On Copper To See.

"July Afternoon On Black Point Drive" 5x7 oil on copper 350$ framed in thin black with gold and

includes shipping.

"Vista Along Black Point Drive in Titusville" 5x7 oil on copper 350$ framed in thin black gold and

includes shipping.

"A Place To Relax At Princess Place" 5x7 oil on copper 350$ framed in thin black with gold and

includes shipping.

I spend my time taking my Dad on field trips.  We drove to Black Point Drive in Titusville one

Monday.  We had a black bird sit on our car mirror.  We never had a black bird do this before.  I drove

slowly searching for birds or animals.  We went to the beach next and then to a boat ramp long drive along

Mosquito Lagoon.  I am thankful to be here in Florida.

I purchased 50 copper panels sized 12x8 inches.  I do like this panoramic size.  I also was able to buy one tube of

Lefranc Titanium White 200ml online!  This will keep me painting for a while!

Miss Kitty is looking very nice.  She is still a stinker ambushing the poor unexpecting Festus

in his litter box or just walking through the house!  Lately he yells out a screech that is very alarming!

I always come running to find his puffed up in defense of the surprise attack!  Miss Kitty always looks

innocent but I have caught her in the act of ambush way too many times to know she had nothing to

do with his screech.

Here is the black bird who sat on our car mirrors for 15 minutes while we were driving.  Sometimes

he had his wings up in the air.  He was determined to be with us.  He even rode on roof of the car briefly.

We could hear his claws on the metal!  Funny!

Miss Kitty is a very cute kitty.  She hunts spiders, roaches, and anything else that accidentally

came into our cottage!  She captured a very large spider one night and was determined to let

me know it was deceased!  I woke up to find it in a ball with Festus gleaming with pride and Miss Kitty

standing nearby it ready to make another move if it moved!

Festus seems to be thriving on vet prescribed Royal Canin rabbit pea kibble for 108$ a bag that lasts about

a week.  Then he also eats 128$ of 24 pack of small cans of pate.  I think he may weigh 30 pounds now.

It is unfortunate that he has food allergies.  I bought him some probiotics and enzyme to help build

his immune system.  They are both thriving and that's what important.

Our Bucksport, Maine house is for sale on the market.  If we sell the house, Robert hopes to move to our cottage in

Ocklawaha with Lady Violet.  He will apply for his Florida Physical Therapy License here.  We hope to raise a few

chickens and rabbits and grow a garden of vegetables.  I think a simpler life would suit us both.  Have a good night.

June 19, 2026 Three New Paintings to See. A Round Beach Scene. Juniper Springs Mill. Reworked An Egret.

I have painted two round oil paintings on board framed in wood.  This one is of Beverly

Beach near Flager.  I loved the buttery peach color of the sand on a greyer day.  I used a little more

restrained on minimizing the yellow flowers.  I like painting round.  "Beverly Beach" 24inch diameter.  950$ includes

shipping.

"Mill House at Juniper Springs" 12x12 oil on copper 1250$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and Italian handcarved black with light gold lip included, or gold.

I was sitting in the 68-degree cool springs water thinking about how many generations of my

family have enjoyed this, Juniper Springs.  Three generations have swam and picnicked here.  I love

this place.  I have swum here almost every day.  I am getting to know the season pass holders.

I worked on this painting for three days.  I spent 30 hours painting.  Copper oil paintings take me

three times the time as does painting with oil on board.  I also go through a lot more oil paint.  It is very

interesting allowing myself to paint on board and copper to see the difference.

"Nesting Time" 12x12 oil on copper 1250$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping and frame

are included.

I had finished the mill painting above and was looking at my finished Nesting Time painting.  I

put it back on my easel to change a few things.  I rubbed some browns over the next area to unite a

few twigs.  I mixed more sky color and changed the sky holes on the right by the palm.  I added more

color to the leaves.  I added more gold reflective light on the Egret.  I think it is better now.

The cat in the foreground I call Chester. He has lost half his weight this last month.

I thought it was because he was not getting food. Maybe the Sandhill Cranes have been

stealing all the cat food.  The other cat sitting on the chair I call the guard.  He guards my

cottage.  Sometimes he sits on top of my car!  He meows loudly when I come home.  He wants

me to pet him but will bite and hiss at me after a few pets.  What a character.  They look a little like

my cat friend named Dundee of Stonington, Maine.  Maybe Dundee was a brighter orange.

Two long haired orange cats who lived nearby decided I might feed and take care of them better.  They

watched me carry Festus to the Catio.  Miss Kitty may have bragged about the quality of cat food and all her

toys.  I tried to get them to go home.  They seemed to become thinner and thinner.  Weaker.  I brought out

two bowls of food.  I feed them daily, Purina One turkey formula.  I give them fresh spring water.  Sandhill

crane family of four sometimes hijack their food.   The larger Sandhill crane walks on to the deck, raises his wings,

and scares both cats eating away!  I put both cat bowls of food under an Adirondack chair so they can eat safely.

My cats, Festus and Miss Kitty, were irritated that they did not get any of the Purina One food that my outside

orange cats get.  But they both need to see each the vet prescribed Rabbit and Pea kibble and pate by Royal Canin.

Have a good night.

June 3, 2026 Working Plein Air At Juniper Springs To See Cool and Produce Spring Paintings!

"Main Spring at Juniper Springs" 12x12 oil on primed birchwood.  1250$ framed in gold or black

with gold.  Shipping and frame are included in the price.

"Juniper Springs" 12x8 oil on copper 950$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included.

It is hot here in Ocklawaha, Florida.  I found a wonderful place, Juniper Springs, to paint

and cool off!  A 80$ membership fee allows me access to all the local springs.  I am lucky to have

Juniper Springs 10 or 15 minutes away from my cottage. It is an oasis!  I think the water

temperatures are always 68 degrees.  The top painting shows the main spring or vent.

The color is a beautiful blue that somehow, I can still make with my limited four colors.

The second painting was done on a more cloudy day.  I really like how that cumulus cloud

turned out.  I waited till it moved to the right location.  A young lady was asking me questions

and videoing me while I painted.  I had a great time.  The ice cold crystal clear water is so refreshing.

There is a turtle who comes up for air a few times a day, crawfish, and a swamp bird that hangs out

in the water.  Two young boys captured the swamp bird in a minnow net and had it by it's neck.

The swamp bird escaped and seemed up phased by the assault.  I was glad to see the bird unharmed.

It is always sunny here in Florida.  I am grateful for a nice cool cottage with the lake view.

Festus is always doing something funny.  He was sitting on top of my head but then he

slid off and put his big paw over my ear.  He is doing very well and so is Miss Kitty.  Violet,

my pretty red golden retriever in Maine, is doing great too.  Good night.

May 29, 2026 Staying In Florida This Summer. Two Juniper Springs Paintings!

"Juniper Springs" 12x12 oil on copper 1250$ framed in your choice of black with gold, gold, or

Maplewood frame.  Shipping is included.

I drank a half a Red Bull sugar free, carried a lot of painting equipment, hit the trail at Juniper

Springs. I walked and walked searching for a trail to a boardwalk.  I ended up in the campground.

I was lucky to have two young campers ask me, "Too far?"   I said "Yes".  They showed me a secret

trail to the boardwalk!  Thank heavens.  I found the boardwalk, leaped over a few fallen trees, and

found the place I wanted to paint.  I helped three cheerleaders with photos, found my way down an

enbankment, and set up a chair in the water.  There was about 14 inches of water to cool my feet and

lower legs.  It was 95 degrees.  It was memorial day.  There were many kayakers.  I helped push a few

kayakers in the right direction while I painted!  This was a real hard scene to piant.  Lots of sunspots.

Lots of greens.  I started with the framework of the painting squinting my eyes to see this.  Dark brown

is in the shadows here in Florida.  There are really warm reds in the shadows.  I just tried to paint what I saw.

"Juniper Creek" 12x12 oil on copper 1250$ framed in gold, black with gold, maplewood frame,

shipping and frame included in the price.

I worked on this painting in my studio.  I think it helped me spending 6 hours on location.

I did not get bitten by giant yellow flies while I painted this one!  But I do think I will spend more

time lugging my painting equipment and painting while sitting in the springs water.

I am going to stay here in Florida.  I am doing very well here.  I do not want to spend thousands of

dollars traveling to and from Maine like I normally have done.  The gas prices are high.  My car is a

2015 Cheverolet Traverse now.  I do not want to ruin the transmission by loading it up with copper,

paint, and frames.  I don't want to break down along the highway with two cats in the car.  I thought

of camping along the way but that could be unsafe. I have talked myself out of the trip.  I have plenty

of Maine photos to paint from incase I feel like doing that.  The HVAC airconditioning here at the cottage

is working great.  All the internal parts of the HVAC system are new and working just fine.  The cats enjoy

their morning catio time and seem to nap the rest of the day inside the cottage.  We are feeding two long hair

orange cats that are small.  They were my neighbors cats but for whatever reason started to get extremely thin.

They were hanging out at my cottage either on top of my car or sitting near the deck meowing if they saw me.

I did not like seeing how fragile and sick they were becoming.  I started to feed them and give them water.

They are doing better.

I am headed out to paint.  Juniper Springs or St. Augustine might be the destination!  Good night.

May 15, 2026 Here are Three Small Great Egret and Tricolored Heron and Rosette Spoonbill Paintings!

"Arrival Of An Egg" 6x6 oil on copper.  450$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping and frame

"Wings of an Angel" 5x7 oil on copper.  450$ framed in gold or black with gold. Shipping and

frame included in the price.

"Tricolored Herons Nesting" 6x6 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.

I think I did ok with the top two but the last one may not have worked too well.

I am having a good time painting birds.  I have ordered 60 Icelandic Poppies!  They will arrive

on Monday.  They are fresh cut buds that should hopefully bloom!  I will take a lot of photos

to paint from them.  I will try to paint them from life too.  I love Icelandic Poppies.  They

are so beautiful.  It will be an amazing treat for me.  120$ Yikes!  But I think it will make me

enormously happy for several days!

Festus and Miss Kitty are getting along very well.  Miss Kitty's hair has grown back now.  She had

food allergies too.  Any cat overgrooming themselves are suspect of a food allergy.  Festus is getting almost

fat!  I can hardly pick him up but do!  They are really happy here in Florida.  I enjoy being here so much.

Good night.

May 12, 2024 A Great Egret Painting To See!

"Fishing" 24x24 oil on primed board.  1995$ (4 payments can be done) framed in your choice

of gold or black with gold or other color frame.  Shipping and frame are included.

I saw this guy sitting on his nest at the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine, Florida.  His mate

arrived.  He flew to the water's edge carefully watching two large gators nearby.  He seemed to be

intent on capturing a fish!  I worked for 3 nights, 10 hours a session, until this was completed.

I enjoy visiting this park. I spend hours there taking photos. I was going to paint but it was sprinkling

off and on Sunday.  I met nice people.  Good day.

May 3, 2026 A Great Egret With Party Feathers On Painting To See!

"Party Feathers" 24x24 oil on primed board.  1995$ framed in your choice of gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included.

I have two more 200ml tubes of Le Franc Titanium White.  I have plenty of my other oil colors.

The Le Franc Titanium White is the most expensive as it is imported from France.  I use about 10 tubes

a year at 75$ each!  I will not worry about the white paint.  If it is meant to be it will be meant to be.

I am drinking a lot of Red Bull.  It has vitamin B12 and B6.  I was deficient in those two vitamins.  I do

feel a lot better.  Red Bull has a lot of caffeine too.  Caffeine is great if you want to paint larger works.

I made a big batch of cold brew coffee too.  I am keeping caffeinated.  I have lost 15 pounds since I was last

in Maine.  The cold subdued weather makes a person eat carbs and sit still.  Florida sunlight makes a

person happy and active.  I feel hardly any bone pain as I did in Maine. This climate is much easier to live in.

I will probably go to the gator park in St. Augustine tomorrow.  The nesting season

is until early June.  Have a good night.

April 30, 2026 A Great Egret With Two Chicks on Nest Oil on Copper Painting To See!

"Nesting Time" 12x12 oil on copper 1250$ framed in Black with Gold or Gold. Shipping and frame

are included in the price.

I enjoyed painting this Great Egret Mom with two chicks with oils on copper.  Copper is so smooth

to paint on with oils.  The brush glides on to the copper.  I have enjoyed painting on  gessoed primed board

lately as well with oils.  I find kolinsky sable paint brushes get easily destroyed on primed boards.  I have

a few hog hair brushes to try with oils on boards.  I am always experimenting.

It is very easy to do the same thing day after day but it is exciting to experiment.

Gator Park in St. Augustine is a great inspiration for painting birds.

   Good night.

April 26, 2026 Three New Birds Nesting at Gator Park in St. Augustine, Florida To See!

"Splish Splash, I Am Taking A Bath!" 12x12 oil on primed birchwood.  1250$ framed in gold or

black with gold or 1.5 maple wood.  Shipping is included.

"Special Moment" 24x24 oil on primed board.  1950$ includes black with gold frame or gold

frame and includes shipping.

"God's Gift" 12x12 oil on copper 1250$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping and frame

are included.

I have been inspired by the nesting birds at Gator Park in St. Augustine, Florida.  They are lovely.

I was working on the "Special Moment" 24x24 painting when I could not decide to add the back lit

bright green to the painting.  So I painted "God's Gift" 12x12 with a different view to see if I liked

the green.  In the end I liked both but decided to keep the larger painting more warm reds.  It seems

like larger painting require less detail but do best with a strong mood.

My Mother, Catherine Bottelman, was a great bird painter.  I would travel around taking photos and

printing them for her to paint for the last 40 years.  I would watch her paint birds of my photos.  It was

exciting seeing the birds come to life on her canvas or copper or board.  She worked in watercolors, acrylics,

but mostly oils.  I never painted birds because I considered it her subject.  We were never competitive.  I

suppose I thought it was just a nice thing to do.  Since she is in heaven, I was still taking photo for her to paint,

but decided to paint birds.  She would love to see me from heaven painting birds. I am trying my best.  She taught

me so many things about painting birds.  The size of the bird in relation to the space of the painting was very

important.  She told me paint the bird big!  People do not want to see a lot of field and a tiny bird.  I think she

was right.

Good night!

April 24, 2026 Painted at the Gator Park in St. Augustine, Florida. Nesting Birds!

"Mother Great Egret" 7x5 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included in the price.

I drove 2 hours to Gator Park in St. Augustine, Florida.  I carried my painting equipment

into the park.  I had already bought a year pass so that I could paint and visit anytime.  It did not

take me long to find a nice scene to paint!  The weather was perfect.  The only unnerving thing was

gigantic alligators swimming and leaping around under the dock where I was painting.  People

were nice and they were from up North just visiting.  I took both paintings home and worked on

them for several hours.

"Proud Mother Egret" 7x5 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Frame and shipping are included.

I missed painting on copper!  It was nice to paint with oils on copper again.  I have

enjoyed experimenting with Gouache on primed wood.  I have enjoyed painting with oils on primed wood.

I was painting only on copper with oils for 20 years!  That explains why I was interested in new substrates

and mediums.  I have more energy here in Florida because of all the sunlight and possibly because it is very

quiet here and I can get great sleep!

Festus continues to thrive on Royal Canin Rabbit Pea kibble and pate.  I have found a local rabbit farmer who

sells fresh rabbit meat for 10$ each.  I purred fresh rabbit, a few peas, coconut oil, and a lot of water.  Festus

liked it very much.  Miss Kitty purred the loudest afterwards to show her appreciation.  This fresh rabbit

meat should save me a lot of money.  It costs over 600$ a month for this special diet because he has food allergies.

He was so energized after eating his pureed fresh rabbit, peas, and coconut oil!  He ran around the cottage.  He

chased after a ball.  Then he tried to terrorize Miss Kitty but I caught him.  I put him in his catio.

I visit my Dad every week.  I take him to Lake Baldwin dog park.  I bring him homemade foods on small plates that

he can handle.  I also bring Oranges and cookies and various other treats!  I enjoy talking with him very much.

I am working on a large 24x24 oil on primed board of a Tricolored Heron standing on the nest with one bright blue

egg.  There is a pip in the egg.  She seems to be looking down on the egg with great fondness.  I should be done with

this larger painting tomorrow!  Good night.

March 29, 2026 A Blue Sunrise Painting To See Of The Atlantic Ocean.

"Blue Morning" 20x22 oil on acrylic primed birchwood.  1250$ framed in your choice of warm oak,

white, black, or gold wood.  Shipping and frame included.

I originally painted this Blue sunrise for a family member who is moving into a customed built home

a few blocks from the ocean.  I finished the painting and they messaged me to include the words, "All I wanna do is

be with you." and also they wanted two blue chairs in the foreground.  I liked the painting I had just completed.

I decided I would do a different painting for them with these new specifications.

I was painting this painting in my lake front art studio watching two alligators come in close to

my backyard in the lake. I had both cats in their catio.  I knew they were safe.  I saw two Sandhill Cranes

frolicing in my backyard.  Then I noticed what the gators had seen!  A small black dog was walking by the

water's edge!  My neighbors little black dog had escaped once again.  I walked outside to the backyard.  The dog

barked at me and started to run back home four lake lots down.  I kept walking to his house.  He jumped back

through a hole in the fence into his yard. I picked up the fallen wood panel.  I put the wood panel back in place and

hit it with the palm of my hand several times till the nail went back in.  Mission accomplished!  Naughty dog.

The gators swam away.  I went back to my painting.   I finished the painting late in the evening.  Oil paintings on

primed birchwood this size take me 12 hours.  Oil paintings on copper would take me weeks to complete.  The process

of delivering oil on copper is very very slow!  I am able to paint a large painting in a whole day!  That is pretty exciting.

I am happy with the results.   I used a jig saw for the first time to cut the birchwood.  I am learning new skills.

   Good night.

March 25, 2026 Finished a Nice Donkey Painting From Altoona, Florida.

"A Purposeful Life Indeed" 12x12 oil on acrylic primed birchwood.  850$ framed in maple wood.

Shipping and frame are included.

I saw three nice looking young Donkeys in Altoona, Florida before sunset.  The golden light made

for excellent lighting on the Donkeys.  There was a type of flower planted in this field for the Bees and Donkeys.

There were hundreds of bee hives behind the Donkeys.  Men were wearing bee suits.  Smokers were going.

They were spraying chemicals to help the bees.  I think these three Donkeys job was to guard the beehives.

Donkeys are very loyal protectors of horses, cows, and bee hives.  There is a heavy bear population in this

area and bears love honey!  Most Donkeys I have met are very friendly.  They will come running to the fence

to get petted.  But these Donkeys were just curious.  One Donkey decided enough!  She nipped another Donkey

in the butt and made her move back to the barn.  They are trotted off.  These were working Donkeys and had no

time to visit me!  I respected this.  I enjoyed watching them.

Good night.

February 28, 2026 A Blood Red Sunrise Over Highway 42 in Weirsdale, Florida Painting To See!

"Red Sunrise" 8x12 oil on acrylic primed birchwood, varnished in cold wax by Gamblin, framed

in 1.5 maplewood, shipping included in USA.

I worked on this painting yesterday, last night, and this morning!  It was challenging.

I made the sun a little higher, made the trees on the right shorter.  I think it is like the scene I saw

on February 28th. It was a very cold Florida morning with 28-degree temperatures!  There was

a smokey haze from wood fires burning.  The color of the sun and the size of the sun visible

was very striking!  I enjoy watching sunrises while driving around.  Funny, but Festus tries

to wake me up at 5am so I am up to feed him and go see the sunrise.  He is an amazing

alarm clock.

"Sweet Talkin Lady" 12x8 oil on acrylic primed birchwood. 650$ framed

in 1.5 maplewood.  Shipping is included in USA.

I am lucky to take photos and watch several Donkeys who live together in Weirsdale, Florida.

There are a lot of Donkeys here in this area. They are interesting animals.  Lots of character.

    Have a good night!

February 21, 2026 A Donkey Painting To See From Weirsdale, Florida.

"My Fiona" 8x12 oil on acrylic gessoed birchwood, with an underpainting of gouache, varnished

in Gamblin's cold wax. Framed in 1.5 maplewood.  Shipping is included in the USA.  sold. thanks.

I have been enjoying painting donkeys.  They are such an interesting animal.  What a sound they

can make!  I love how much character they have.  I love their ruffed up hair.  This donkey lives

in Weirsdale, Florida.  She is with a few other donkeys and horses.

"Strength and Serenity" 12x8 oil on acrylic primed gessoed birchwood, drawn with gouache paint, varnished with

Gamblin's Cold Wax, and framed in 1.5 maplewood, shipping included.  650$.

I started by using acrylic gesso on birchwood.  I used three or four coats of gesso to cover the board.

This is standard practice for painting on board because it provides a barrier for the painter to work on.

Acid from the wood is isolated and doesn't interfere with the paint.   Then I took out my Mom's Winsor

Newton Gouache paints.  Gouache is really fun because you can blend it easily and create many layers.

I let that paint dry.  I took out my oil paints.  I worked the entire surface covering it with many layers

of oil paints.  I prefer working in oils.  It really is an amazing medium.  I can get many colors in a brushstroke.

I can achieve a glistening with oils.  I can build up layers to create such textures.  Now I will let it dry. I will varnish

the painting with a very light coating of Gamblin's Cold Wax.  It will create a very nice slight satin finish.  This

wax can be removed by buffing it off.  It is just wax.  It protects the paintings surface, doesn't turn yellow, and

has a very nice finish.  Plus wax is harmless and does not smell and is not toxic.  It is all natural.

I think I needed a change of substrate and medium to attempt to paint the Florida landscape. It is very different

than Maine.  I was overthinking the daunting task.  I am enjoying painting on gessoed birchwood.  I bought

a jigsaw and now will watch many videos on how to install a blade, how to cut wood, so I can create any side wood

panel I want!  I will still paint on copper again but I just needed a break from it.  Painting with oils on copper is very very

difficult.  If it were easy then all artists would be painting with oils on copper...but they are not...for a good reason.  Copper

is extremely expensive.  Copper is very smooth and has a shiny glare.  Trying to deliver oil paint on a brush on to copper

is very slow and taxing.  The results are just amazing and can not be compared to any other substrate out there.  There is

a shimmery quality under the oil paint very subtlety sharing a tiny bit of that glowing copper.  But for now I am going to

play with oils, gouache, on acrylic primed birchwood.

Festus was very mischievous this morning.  He hopped on to my bed.  Then instead of cuddling with me, he hopped up onto

the bookcase next to my bed. He briefly looked over the edge at me, then he leaped on to my thighs, and then jumped off and

ran out of the room.  Ambushed!  Having 25 pounds of solid muscle jump from 6ft in the air down to 2 ft in the air was painful.

I am sure my thighs will be bruised tomorrow.  I know why he did it.  He wanted me to wake up, put him in his catio, so he could

see a male cat hanging out.  Well that is exactly what I did.  Have a good night.  I turned on the AC.  Warm here in Florida. I love it.

February 17, 2026 Painted A Beautiful Donkey Sunbathing In Weirsdale, Florida.

"Sunbather" oil on gessoed acrylic birchwood.  Framed in 1.5 maple wood.  Shipping included

in the price in the USA.  sold.  thanks

I was surprised at how long this painting took.  The other gouache, acrylic, on birchwood paintings

only took me about 6 or 7 hours.  It took me 2 hours to draw the donkey on to the birchwood.  Then

I worked until 3:45am painting.  I did not realize the time.  I do like how it turned out.  She looks lovely

bathed in golden light at the golden hour of the day.  She had been eating hay but turned to face the

sun.  I visit the donkey almost every day. They live in Weirsdale, Florida.  I never feed them as there is

a large sign that states do not feed the animals.

  Have a good day.

February 16, 2026 Mixed Media On Birchwood Sunrise Paintings To See of Ocklawaha, Florida.

"He Make'th Me Lie Down In Green Pastures" 12x8 oil, acrylics on primed birchwood.

Sold.  Thank you.

"Moon With Mackerel Clouds" 12x8 Gouache and Acrylics on Birchwood. Sold. Thanks.

I saw both of these scenes in Ocklawaha, Florida at sunrise.  I like to drive around at

sunrise and take photos to paint.  The light is really too fast to paint on location.  I do

best working on paintings in my cottage using the image on a computer monitor.  I can

use my memory also if I paint it within a few days.  These scenes were almost universal because

of the dramatic lighting.  Ocklawaha is thought of as a ecological wonder because of the thousands

of acres of the Ocala National Forest. It is very wild and quiet here.  All I hear are animals and birds.

I love the sunrises, but the sunsets are nice too.

Festus, my Maine Coon Cat, is always doing something funny.  Last night he climbed on to

my head.  He made me laugh.  Then he slid off my head and lay beside me with his big paws

wrapped around my head.  He gave me a head massage for a few minutes.  Then he took off to go to

sleep.  I know that cat loves me.  Nice feeling before I sleep.  Good night.

February 13, 2026 Two New Gouache Paintings On Acrylic Primed Birchwood of Ocala National Forest TO See!

"Dawn-The Time of Dreams and To Be Thankful" 12x8 gouache paint on acrylic primed birchwood

Varnished with Gamblin's Cold Wax, framed in 1.5 maplewood and includes shipping in USA.

"Sunrise on the Road Home" 12x12 gouache paint on double primed acrylic on birchwood,

tiny bit of oil paint, varnished in Gamblin's Cold Wax, framed in 1.5 maplewood, shipping in USA.

I have been working with a new medium. Here are my thoughts.  I think it takes longer to build

up 6 or 7 layers of Gouache paint to achieve the look I want compared to oil paints.  I ruin a brush

everytime I paint.  It is because acrylic primed birchwood is much rougher than copper.  I have tried

synthetic brushes and a hog hair brush but they still get destroyed.  Of course the brush is much less

expensive on my sable hair brushes I was using on oil on copper paintings.  They cost about 5$ instead

of 25$!  The Winsor Newton Gouache paint is wonderful.  The 14ml tubes cost about 10 to 15$ each.  I have

been using up my deceased Mom's Gouache paint.  I believe I purchased these paints long ago for her birthday.

I can tell because they are a limited palette with the same colors I would use in oils. I thought it would be good

for her to use a limited palette.  The birchwood I am using can be bought at hardware stores.  I think they results

of the finished product are great.  I like how the paintings look.  The surface is more mat with a slight satin finish.

The Gamblin's Cold Wax product does not turn yellow. I have had a bottle of this wax for longer than 20 years and it

is the same color as when it was purchased.  The nice thing about wax is it protects against humidity like in a

bathroom area.  It protects against scratching.  The surface of these paintings are smooth.

Festus was doing very well on the Royal Canin rabbit kibble and pate but has thrown up a few times

these last two days. I will wait to see if this continues today or tomorrow then if it does take him to the vet

for more treatment.  The weather has improved here!  Festus and Miss Kitty spend hours in the catio.

I am working on a very large acrylic on birchwood painting I saw at sunrise over a pasture nearby.  A quarter moon

is high above a tree.  Good night.

February 2, 2026 A Sunrise Painting with "Here Comes The Sun" lyrics by George Harrison

"Here Comes The Sun" 12x12 Gouche on acrylic primed birchwood, framed in 1.5 maple wood,

shipped free in USA.

I saw this sunrise at the corner of highway 42 and highway 182 in Ocklawaha, Florida.

It was exciting watching the sunrise.  I went home and worked for 6 hours painting it in gouache on

double primed birchwood. It seems to take me 6 hours to paint a 12x12 size. I am still using my Mom's

Gouache paint.  I think she would tell me, "Good Renee!  Good!"  She was mostly like a cheerleader to me.

I listened to several songs on utube.  Frank Sinatra had a nice song called, "I like the sunrise".  I listened

to it several times but it was slow.  I really do like it still and hope to listen to it many more times.  I listened

to many Cat Steven's songs.  "Here Comes The Sun" was a perfect choice for this painting. "Here Comes The

Sun" was written by George Harrison.   Thank you.  Good night.

February 1, 2026 Moonshadow by Cat Stevens With An Inspirational Moon Gouache Painting.

"Moonshadow" 12x12 Gouache on board, framed in 1.5 inch maple, shipping included. 250$ sold. Thank you.

I decided to change mediums.  Gouache is a water based paint.  It is similar to watercolor pigments but

the paint has a less finely ground pigments making it more opaque.  It is a wonderful medium.  I primed

the birchwood board twice with acrylics.  I am using my Mom's gouache paint.  She had them stored in a

zip lock bag.  I believe I purchased the gouache paints for her long long ago.  I remember painting with her

when she was using them.  She was having something strange happen with one Ultramarine Blue paint.

I took a look at the tube of paint and read it was oil paint!  No wonders it was behaving differently!  We both

laughed so hard.  The small tube of oil paint was still in the same bag with the gouache paint.  I set it aside.

When I opened up the zip lock bag I caught a whiff of her.  It was magical taking me back in time.  I was using

a few of her brushes.  I am glad someone else liked this painting.  I appreciate your support.  It was fun painting

this painting.

"If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out" 12x12 Gouache on acrylic primed wood, framed in 1.5 maple wood and
