July 29, 2025 Painted White Birch Trees at Sand Beach in Acadia National Park. I Am A Lifeguard!

"Acadia White Birch Trees at Sand Beach" 12x14 oil on copper 1500$ framed in gold or black

with gold. Shipping and frame are included.

I painted fast as the light lit up White Birch trees at the entrance to Sand Beach.  I liked the ocean

and glowing orange rocks and sand peaking through the trees.  I worked on this painting until late

in the evening!

I like to paint using my Open M Box easel sitting on my lap.  The larger copper

panel was leaning on the lid of the easel. I used guerrilla tape to secure it.

I don't use the tripod on the prochade box anymore.  The easel was always wobbling anyway

on the tripod.  I can travel lighter!

I am a certified Lifeguard now.  I have been working part time, 12 hours a week.

Maine has been short on lifeguards.  It is very stressful and exciting being a lifeguard.

Lady Violet has been gathering up towels and any toy.  She is acting differently.

We are letting her know she is loved very much.  She misses her family.

Thank you for reading the blog and following us!  Good night.

July 24, 2025 I Visited Schoodic, in Acadia National Park To See The Sunset!

"Blueberry Hill Path at Schoodic and My Shadow" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold

or black with gold.  Shipping and frame included..

I decided to visit Schoodic later in the day.  I painted a small painting because the golden

hour does not last very long. I had to take it home and finish it in my studio.  Refine it.

Schoodic was more quiet later in the evening.  It was more colorful and enchanting.

Here it is on the easel as the light was gone.

My hybid car is very quiet.  I can see wild life.  This buck looked well fed!

The light after the sunset was interesting at Blueberry Hill Path.

I drove the Schoodic road twice.  Glad I did because the sunset is best at

the entrance by Winter Harbor.

Here is the same location as the sunset photo except 2 hours earlier.

   The marsh was lit up.

Thank you for following this blog and purchasing paintings.  Good night.

Before darkness fell everything was Blue.

July 22, 2025 Painted in Schoodic Yesterday. Met a Man With Two Birds.

"View From Blueberry Hill Path in Schoodic" 8x10 oil on copper 950$ framed in gold or

black with gold.  Shipping and frame are included.

I drove to Schoodic to paint after dining on cold unpasturized saurkraut and a sirlon burger.

That saurkraut really gives me tremendous energy. I feel like a 20 year old after eating a few

cups.  I painted a smaller painting first, a 4x6, then as the golden hour came, it became so pretty

that I decided to paint the 8x10 above.

"Blueberry Hill Path Study" 4x6 oil on copper.

There is a great difference in afternoon light and golden hour light.  Golden hour light brings

out many golds and orange colors.  Every color and values become more intense.

There was a man with two birds sitting 30 feet away.  He was giving the African Amazon bird

a few kisses.  The Macaw had been abused by the previous owner.  The Macaw pulls out his feathers

because he has anxiety from the abuse.  The birds were having such a wonderful time exploring

the park.  The man said he was sharing amazing landscapes with his bird friends before they

had to go live in a special bird sanctuary after he died.  He already made arrangements with the

sanctuary for them.  The birds will live a long time after he is dead.  He didn't want their new

owners to be abusive.  The macaw loved climbing on the rocks a little too much.  The man said

he had to reel back in the Macaw!  They were staying in a van traveling around seeing the sights.

He asked the African Amazon if he wanted to sit on my arm.  The bird tilted his head down..that mean no.

The man tried three times and the bird said no three times. I was not surprised.  I am afraid of birds.

The man said the bird is very intelligent.  I tried not to feel bad!

Here is the larger painting on the easel.  The light was gone and so I had to finish it later in

my studio.

It was cooler that day so the colors were intense. If it is hot then everything looks pale.

Festus was showing off his hunting abilities to Lady Violet and Miss Kitty.  He caught

a chipmunk and released it.  He just likes to show Robert what a great hunter he is.

Miss Kitty and Lady Violet both kept their distance out of respect to Festus.  I did see Festus

pow Lady Violet in the face to let her know it is my catch!  After that everyone understood.

Festus never hurts his captures.  I think he just likes to impress his friends.

Festus likes to snuggle with a dog plushie.  Good night.

July 17, 2025 Painted Fog Rolling In At Otter Cliffs in Acadia Yesterday. Fun Time.

I could only find parking in front of my favorite place in Acadia National Park.

I parked, carried my equipment only a short distance, and started to paint.

Everytime I paint here it is just lovely.  Fog was rolling in.  I saw a sail boat coming

through the fog.  It is the iconic view in Acadia so I can never go wrong.  People hiking by

are very nice.  I may enjoy talking to the people here more than any place in Maine.

They people who stop to talk come from all over the world.  They are happy.  I met

two teenage boys hiking.  They stopped to admire the view.  They told me, "It's our

first time in the park!".  I told them this was Monument cove and Otter Cliffs.  Very cute to

see their happy faces.

"Fog Rolling In at Otter Cliffs" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included.

Here are my efforts.  I had a butterfly, a light yellow large one, come up to me, hover, like she

was looking at my face.  That was quite an amazing thing.  Then I was attacked by small bee like

insects. I reached for my can of Deet 40 and axed them!  I have residual poison ivy on my arm from

a few days ago's painting efforts in Acadia.  Now I have a few bites on my face.  I am starting to look

like a woman of some character!

Here is the sailboat I saw while painting.

It became very foggy as I finished the painting.  I went to Little Hunters Beach.

There were many people on the beach with two dogs.

Violet is doing ok.  She was ripping her hair out one day but I discovered a knot in her arm pit hair

so I trimmed it off.  She doesn't want to lay down where Monet was downstairs.  She doesn't play with

her two new toys Ted gave her.  We are taking a break from Ted.  He kidnapped Lady Violet for a few hours

a few weeks ago.  He was in a bad mood 1 out of 3 visits causing stress during his visits.  The visits caused

me a lot of anxiety.  Maybe we are all grieving for the loss of Monet, Lily, and Poppy.  Three Golden Retrievers

passing within 7 months is very difficult.  A time out might improve the situation.

   Good night.

July 13, 2025 A Painting Of A Boat House at Little Long Pond on Mount Desert Island, Maine.

"Boat House at Little Long Pond" 8x10 oil on copper  950$ framed in gold or black with gold

and includes shipping.  Sold.  Thank you.

The boat house at Little Long Pond brings many memories to me.  I spent hours here on

Mount Desert Island while my two first golden retrievers, Daisy and Duke, swam.

The public park was donated by the Rockefellers.  Its the only public place dogs are allowed.

Its truly an amazing place.  I painted this one from a photo I took last year.  I used a brand new

Old Holland bright kolinsky sable size 6 brush to get the details I needed!  It is very fun to use

a brand new brush like this one.  It has a super sharp edge.  They become frayed after 4 uses.

"Stonington Harmony" 8x10 oil on copper 950$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included in the price.

I decided to work more on this painting.  I worked and worked and worked.  It was a labor of love.

The schooner I originally painting in the distance did not pass my inspection. I changed it into

the Angelique.  The color really helped.  I reworked the clap boards.

Festus stands on the round oak table when Robert comes home.  He meows once or twice as a

sign it is time to take him hiking in the back yard!  Robert is quick to open the back door to allow

Festus and Miss Kitty to sprint down the stairs into the fenced yard.  He keeps a good eye on both of

them.  Lady Violet watches too.

Violet goes to Belfast and explores the waterfront, goes to Robert's office, and then goes to a dog park.

She loves going on outings.  Good night.

July 10, 2025 Painted At a Foggy Cold Acadia National Park

"Socked in at Acadia" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with gold. Shipping and

frame are included.

I left Bucksport, Maine when it was 80 degrees and sunny.  An hour and a half later I was

in Acadia National Park at 65 degrees and foggy.  I changed into a sweatshirt, jeans, and put

my tennis shoes on to paint!  I liked this view.  The Roses in the foreground gave it some depth.

I like to paint flowers in the foreground.  I painted a few happy bees collecting pollen.  I had to

grab my umbrella because of a light spray.

I met an artist named Dan painting in acrylics.  He was gridding out his drawing on location.

He was using a grid on a photo he took on his cell phone.  Good trick!  He was very nice.

A pretty Gull came to see what Dan had to offer to eat.  I am glad the Gull stayed

on the rock.  He didn't attempt to steal a tube of acrylics.

It was a very foggy day.  I am very glad I prepared with extra clothes, trail mix, cinnamon

cake, and bottles of water!

   Good night.

July 9, 2025 Painted on Mount Desert Island's Seal Harbor Beach Today.

"Seal Harbor Beach in July" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included.

I always enjoy painting at Seal Harbor Beach.  Everyday it looks different.  I liked the high tide.

High tides are more positive than a low tide in a painting.  I painted all day!  Traffic coming home

was no fun.  I thought about staying later and paint more but I was hungry.  Hunger!  I should

pack an ice chest full of food and drinks.  That is a great idea.

When I was finishing my painting two artists drove by and said hello.

They just pulled over and we talked.  The one artist, Ray, actually painted on copper.

They were from New York.  They said they might paint at Seal Harbor Beach

tomorrow.  I think they were painting at the Little Long Pond earlier.  I may

paint there again tomorrow.  Might be fun to paint with other painters.

Robert told me early this morning he was in the backyard with Lady Violet,

Festus, and Miss Kitty.  A squirrel ran across the yard.  Festus ran after him.

The squirrel climbed up the tree and Festus followed.  Festus did not catch the squirrel because

he was too afraid to go up higher in the tree.  Festus did get the highest ever!  Robert called

Festus down slowly.  Robert ended up catching Festus as he leaped out of the tree.  What an

adventure.  I am glad everyone was safe.  Good night.

July 4, 2025 We Went To See The Schooner Race at Breakwater Lighthouse!

I met a very nice artists named Blakely at Breakwater Lighthouse.  He was painting and

selling his acrylic paintings for 150$.  He said he also sells his work at the balancing rock

on the Shore Path in Acadia.  He has created 5000 painting in his 50 years of painting.

He said he has only become sucessful the last 20 years.  He was dressed up and looking the part.

I enjoyed listening to him talk to people.  Kindred spirits!

The Heritage was passing Breakwater Lighthouse.

We saw all the schooners!  It was just thrilling!

Robert and I hiked 1.2 miles along the rugged granite to the lighthouse.

He hiked it twice and took great close ups of schooners.

The Angelique!

"July at Seal Harbor Beach" 8x10 oil on copper. Sold today!  Yeah!  Thank you so much!!!

Have a Happy 4th of July!  Good Night.
