May 29, 2024 Painted The Beehive And Otter Cliffs Today in Acadia National Park!

"Beehive in Acadia" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with gold. Shipping and

frame are included.

I found a parking spot right by the entrance to Sand Beach!  What a nice thing.  I hiked

down the beach admiring everyone having a 'good time'.  This is how I have a 'good time'.

I was in my own world painting while all kinds of activity completely eluded me.  I was happy

painting.  I am not as happy doing anything else.  Well petting my dogs and cats are the other

thing that makes me very happy.  I brought the painting home, removed a black fly from the oil

paint, and tidied the painting up a bit using a photo I took.

"Rocking and Rolling at Otter Cliffs" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included in the price.

I was just going to look at Otter Cliffs.  I got out of my car, hiked over to the scene,

and it was just too nice to pass up!  There was beautiful Emerald Greens in the water!

I have not seen that before.  I set up to paint for four or five hours.  I had a great time

studying the creamy frothy water today.  I met a lady who asked me if it were ok if she ask

a question. I said sure!  She said, "What are those round things in the water?"  I told her,

"They are lobster buoys!"  She was so amazed.  Another lady said she really wanted to

jump into the ocean.  I asked her if she knew the water was between 40-50 degrees?  She did not

know this and was quite shocked!  I told her you would have 4 minutes in the water before you

became hyperthermic.  The guys she was with said, "No way! Really"  I said, "Yes" and laughed.

I really enjoy talking with the tourists.

Lupines are beginning to make an appearance.

I looked up to see a sailboat on the left in the distance.

Once I sat in a chair on the cliff to the left.  I sit on the main path now.

I like watching Robert walking with the dogs and Festus.

The insurance adjuster came yesterday to look at our two cars that were hit by a tree in

our driveway.  Now I guess we wait to hear from the insurance agency.  Robert has a new

car that was not affected by the tree.  I have a rental car for a month or so.  I am enjoying

having a car so I can paint.  Good night.

May 26, 2024 Painted Lilacs, Mailboxes, The Sea In Stonington, Maine.

"Almost Home in Stonington, Maine" 8x10 oil on copper.  850$ framed in gold or black with

gold and shipping is included.

I arrived in Stonington, Maine at 12pm.  Two schooners were in the harbor and one was departing!

By the time I parked another schooner was departing, the Angelic!  I tried to take photos but I do not

think they turned out very good.

The sun was hiding behind clouds.

In the very distance you might see a glimpse of the Red sails of Angelique!

Another schooner heading into the wind is hardly noticeable.

I need to juice up my camera and cell phone.  I don't want to miss another opportunity

to take schooner photos!

Lilacs were blooming everywhere!  I saw a few Lupines blooming but not worthy of painting yet!

Next week there will be Lupine fields to paint!

Good night.

May 25, 2024 Beautiful Sunny Day On Park Loop Road in Acadia National Park!

"Acadia Blues at Otter Cliffs" 14x20 oil on copper 1750$  Sold. Thank you.

I started this painting in my studio many days ago.  It is difficult to paint this large on location.

I think it is best to start the process in the studio.  Work on it for 40 hours.  Then bring it out on the same

type of day.  I had to wait a few days because Sunny days in Maine in the Spring are a luxury.  I brought

out a larger easel, a Russian easel, called the Yarko Easel.  I worked for five hours on location.  It was really

exciting working on this painting.  Hiking tourists from all over the world came to watch and talk to me.

I gave them post cards with my website.  The park took me over an hour to get through the check in lines.

I was lucky to find a parking spot.  It took me two trips to get to the spot with all my painting equipment.

I know I look extremely tired but I am dealing with lack of sleep from grief.  I hope eventually

to sleep better soon.  Grief can make a person look 10 years older.  Grief is stressful.

My cat Festus eyes me from afar.  He is leary of me.  He did come to visit me at 5am.  I petted him

and he covered his eyes with his paws.  Too early in the morning for such attention.  I think grief

has a unique smell on a person.  Miss Kitty is also keeping her distance.  The dogs think I am fine.

I found myself admiring the trees as our cars slowly approached the check in point

in Acadia National Park.  This weekend is the busiest of the entire year.

I was very fortunate to get a parking spot.  There were no waves today but at least

there was sunlight!

Look at all the people lining the cliffs!

We have not seen or heard from a insurance adjuster yet.

Tomorrow weather permitting I shall be painting Lilacs in Stonington, Maine!  Good night.

May 23, 2024 Two Cars Destroyed By A 100 FT Tree in Our Driveway!

This is a photo of our house.  Two cars are under that fallen tree.  It all happened at 10am

in the morning.  I was still in my bed thinking when I heard a giant crack. I knew it was a tree.

The crack was followed by many other cracks as the tree fell.  I shuddered just imagining the

tree falling on the house!  Instead the tree landed with another crash.  I knew we were all safe.

I went outside to find the tree had fallen on two cars.  My next door neighbor came out.

We both stood there looking at the damage.  The cars were hardly visible.  The power lines

had been yanked by the tree.  The electrical box was on the ground.

This was Robert's 2009 Volkswagon.  He used it for transporting 4 golden retrievers to the beach

less than 5 minutes away.  The car served a great purpose.  We had just paid over 2500$ for brakes.

This car is probably totaled.  We do not owe any car loan on this car.  We do have car insurance for all the cars.

The other car struck by the tree (there were two cars) is a 2019 Toyota Camry.

I just purchased this car two years ago used.  I owe 24k on this car still.

You can see the Toyota on the right and the Volkswagon is on the left.

The Toyota's windshield was busted like the Volkswagon's.

The hood of the Toyota is over an inch down into the engine area.  The left side of the windshield is

also damaged.  The mirror is off on the right.

The Volkswagon's tires are flattened.  The back end of the Camry was missed.

The Toyota has me worried.  I do not know what will be done.

I am getting a rental car tomorrow for a month. I can have another rental car

for a month after this rental car because two cars were involved in the accident.

At least I can still drive to paint for two months.  If they total both cars and

the Toyota loan is paid off then I will try to find another vehicle to purchase.

The Toyota might be towed to an autobody shop to be repaired.  Tomorrow an

insurance adjuster is coming to see the scene.  I asked Robert to find the insurance

paperwork and read the coverage to make sure the insurance does what it promised to do.

Tom Osgood, an electrician, postponed a job, drove to our house, and fixed the electrical

box.  He called the power company.  The power company installed power.  Now we need to get

estimates on tree removal.  Our house insurance will cover tree removal and the electrician.

The tree did not look rotten.  There was no storm.

I should be out painting on Saturday in Acadia National Park. I have been working

on a larger 14x20 oil on copper painting of Otter Cliffs.  I hope to finish the painting!

We are very lucky no one was injured. Ted showed up at 11am after the tree fell.  The dogs were

happy to see Ted.  We were all very pleased to have his company.  We relaxed after a while.

I am very glad the tree did not fall on Ted!  Good night.

May 17, 2024 Painted At Otter Point in Acadia. Checked In With The Little Green Cottage.

"Spring at Otter Cliffs" 8x10 oil on copper Sold. Thank you so much for your loyal patronage!

I drove to Acadia National Park.  I have a year long pass to Acadia.

I started painting the rocks first along the water.  I had to paint them fast because

the tide was coming in.  There is a 21 foot tide in Maine.  I knew the Spruce trees

would not move so I strategized by painting the rocks first, water second, sky next, then

the upper rocks, then the trees last!  The light stayed the same the whole 4 hours I was painting!

It is more difficult to paint when there is no sunlight.  It is all values and true colors.

It is the opposite of painting when there is sunlight!  I painted with my eyes squinting

to concentrate on the values.  It was fun talking with the hikers in Acadia.  The park had a few

visitors.  Nice people from Ohio and a few local people.

Lot of Reds and bright Greens in Acadia now.  Spring is there!

When I finished painting clouds moved into the scene!

Rogue Winter waves took out the deck and wild roses at the Little Green House.

They brought in gravel.  The little Green house is still Green.  I know a few people very pleased about that!

I would have been shocked to see it a different color.  I am sure I would have adapted eventually.

Here is a meadow I have painted in the Autumn.  Spring colors are so different.

I love this photo of Robert with Festus.  I have finally figured out how to transfer photos

from my Samsung Galaxy 23 cell phone.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not transfer.

I wish there was a standard size SD card inside of this cell phone to make photo transfer easier.

The camera itself is amazing.  I have gone back to using my Fujifilm XP camera and I also use

my cell phone camera too!  Good night.

May 17, 2024 Two Little Deer Ise Farmhouse Paintings Oil on Copper To See!

"Deer Isle Steamship Landing Farmhouse" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with

gold.  Shipping is included in the price.

This beautiful farmhouse once was a bed and breakfast for people arriving by steamship.

There are no more steamships and so the place is just a residence.  I did see a lady with a horse

arriving back home.  This place is so peaceful.  I started the painting back in my art studio.  It was

a grey day.  I was letting the dogs inside and letting them go back outside. The cats were outside

in their individual Kittywalk penthouses.  Festus is territorial of his penthouse.  Miss Kitty has

her own penthouse where she can lay in a hammock.  It is good for animals to get sunshine and

fresh air.  When the sun came out, I loaded up the car, and drove to Deer Isle.  I sat in a driveway

to work on this painting for several hours.  I changed a lot working on location.

Here is a photo of the painting on easel on location!

"Little Deer Ise Farmhouse" 8x10 oil on copper Sold. Thanks.

"Spring Glory at Little Deer isle" 8x10 oil on copper sold. Thanks.

I was allowed to paint at this farmhouse again. It is up for sale!  The farmhouse is on 16 acres of

ocean!  There are apple trees lining the yard.  There are very old Lilac trees planted by the original

owner hundreds of years ago in the Power family.  I decided to make the Lilac tree on the left bloom.

Daffodils lined the front of the house.  I loved the bright Yellow screen door.

Here it is on the easel. I took it home and worked for several hours refining the painting.

Miss Kitty is great for comic relief!  Funny girl.

Good night.

May 15, 2024 Two New Stonington, Maine Oil on Copper Paintings To See!

"Slice of Stonington Heaven" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included.

I took this painting and another back out to Stonington, Maine today to work on them again.

They were probably fine but I wanted to see if I could make them better!  Stonington is about

an hour away from my house.  It is a hike!   I had a great time working for three more hours on

the above painting.

Here is the painting after the first day or two.  I think it has been improved today.

"Stonington's Spring Enchantment" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included in the price.

I worked again today on this painting.

Here it was before.  The lights in the windows really added something extra.  I reworked a lot

in both paintings.

I saw Geese at Ames Pond with babies!  If you look closely you can see their yellow

heads under the Mothers.  I paused to watch them.  Delightful.

There are a few trees blooming but it is going to take a few more weeks!

I am spending more time at home since my Golden Retrievers are older, 10 and 9.  Monet

prefers to be outside.  Festus is the one who wants to be outside the longest!  He has some

sneaky moves to escape out the back door.  Today when I opened the back door, he turned left

by my feet, then turned a right, escaping out the back door so fast!   I always catch him.  He

likes to be in his Kitty Walk penthouse.

I am going back to work on more paintings!  Good night.

May 12, 2024 Happy Mother's Day! Trip To Lake Alamoosook. Festus Exploring!

Festus escapes many times a day out the back door so he can walk around our fenced back yard.

He is perfectly safe.  We are never farther than a foot away from Festus to protect him.  He likes

to hunt.  We make sure he does not catch anything.  There was a Robin hopping in the tall grass

on the other side of the fence.  The Robin saw Festus and flew to a tree.

  Festus on high alert!

   Forget Me Nots and Festus!

I went to Lake Alamoosook at 6am to see the lake.

There were some leaves on the Birch tree.

The center of Ellsworth.

Fog in combination with smoke from a backyard fire.

Happy Mother's Day to all.  Good night.

May 8, 2024 Here is an Oil on Copper Painting of Dundee, Orange Maine Coon Cat of Stonington, Maine!

"Dundee-Visiting Time" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with gold. Shipping

and frame are included in the price.

I have always been enamored with Dundee, the Orange Maine Coon Cat of Stonington, Maine.

The first time I saw Dundee he came running to visit me.  The sheer speed and enthusiasm he

exhibited made me find him fascinating.  He seemed to enjoy my company!  I paint in the

center of Stonington where he found me often.  I thought this cat just loved me!  Then one day

I saw him at the Post Office holding court.  Dundee loved everyone!  I met his owner Elmer who

would share stories about him with each visit.  I realized everyone loved Dundee!  Yes I did encounter

people who had stories of Dundee digging through his trash or getting locked inside their winterized home

for five days!  The grocery store banned Dundee for stealing cat nip toys.  When anyone has a larger

than life personality there will be haters.  For the most part people love Dundee, the Orange Maine Coon Cat.

He is special.

"Magical Stonington Evening" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included.

I have been working very hard. I am back into a good routine.  I love my Maine studio.

I do love to visit Stonington.  This is the Green bridge one must travel over to get to

Stonington.

Here is one of my favorite views in Stonington.  Often schooners sail by in the distance.

The distant building is called Greenhead Lobster Company where you can purchase fresh

lobsters!  Good night.

May 6, 2024 Two New Paintings To See Of Monhegan Island and Stonington, Maine!

"Sunset View of The Trailing Yew" 6x8 sold. Thanks.

"Slice of Stonington Heaven" 8x10 oil on copper 850$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipping and frame are included in the price.

Sauerkraut seems to energize me.  I wonder if it is all the natural probiotics in sauerkraut.

My Dogs love a little bit of sauerkraut too!  I painted both of these paintings in one day and night!

I am working on a night time Stonington now.  I need to paint 20 tiny lobster boats into the distance!

Robert installed new LED lights in my studio and in the gallery. It is much easier to paint with

good lighting!

Wonderful to see Poppy using her Daughter's head for a pillow.  I am hoping to give

Poppy a bath this year.  She has only had two baths her whole life of 10 years.  She is due for

a bath!  She might be inspired if I give her a special treat.  I might let her sniff how nice the

shampoo smells.  She is a smart dog.  I gave Monet and Lily a bath a few days ago.

Dundee, the Orange Maine Coon cat who lives in Stonington, Maine is 14 years old now.

He was spotted walking down Main Street.  Glad to hear he had a good Winter!  Good night.

May 2, 2024 Feeling Better! Painted Monhegan Laundry from the Trailing Yew Inn!

"Monhegan Fresh" 14x20 oil on copper 1750$ sold.  Thanks.

"Monhegan Breeze" 14x20 sold.  Thanks.

I am feeling happier. Grief is a very strange experience. I have grieved for my two Golden Retrievers Daisy

and Duke in 2014.  I have never had the experience of grieving for a human close to me.  It is a learning

experience like everything else.  I found sleeping the most difficult issue. Memories come like a wave

after another wave.  My friend Ted told me to think of the good memories and try to forget the bad ones.

We as humans want to be remembered by the good memories.  We are all humans and make mistakes but

they are just that mistakes that we do not want to be remembered by.  I thought that was very wise.  I discovered

exercise the best way to feel happier during these difficult times.  Keeping busy painting has been a blessing.

I am going to make sure I paint happy paintings.  Everyone handles grief differently.  There is short term

grief and long term grief.  Long term grief can cause health issues so I will not be doing that!  I am eating

healthy and spending time organizing and looking after my pets.  Monet is doing well. Monet and Poppy are

10 years old.  Lily seems to have recovered from her mouth surgery.  Lady Violet is a loving happy girl, at

four years old, living with her Grandparents and Mom.  That must be such a nice thing.

I am looking forward to Tulips and Lilacs blooming in our yard.  Good night!
