May 29, 2018 Visited Stonington, Maine Today.

It was a beautiful day to visit Stonington, Maine.

I had fun finding different views to photograph.

I stood on top of a giant granite rock for this view of Main Street.

Dundee, the orange Maine coon cat, was looking great.

He had gained weigh since April.

He was happy to see me.

   I enjoyed visiting the cat.

   Dundee is very photogenic.

I visited one of my favorite dories.

It is lilac time in Maine!

A few apple trees were blooming.

This is how Lily slept last night.

She has a hot spot under her neck.

I put special spray on the wound.

Good night.

May 28, 2018 Hiking In Thorndike, Maine Woods WIth Three Golden Retrievers.

Ted lead us all through the Thorndike, Maine woods.

We took many breaks.

We wore rose geranium oil and deet to ward off ticks.

We only found one on Lily.

I enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Ted showed us several spots he and Luke would rest.

Monet knew all these places.

Look at those cute muddy doggy feet.

Robert wore a pistol in a holster for protection.

Several times Monet decided Ted needed a lot of kisses.

Ted has lost a lot of weight since the loss of his dog Luke.

The dog's favorite part of the day was throwing sticks into the trout brook.

Ted cooked buttermilk coated fried chicken with his famous baked beans.

Monet stole a chicken bone off of Ted's plate.

We were all chasing Monet without any capture.

Robert gave Monet three slices of bread to get rid of the chicken bone.

I enjoyed seeing the baby robins.

Here are the five baby fly catchers.

There was an abandoned nest at his friends house.

Their dog chased off the birds.

   It was a fine day.

Good night.

May 26, 2018 Ted And The Dogs! Comparing Two Peapod Boat Paintings.

I woke up this morning to the sound of  my dogs barking.

I recognized their bark.  Ted was here to visit.

I came downstairs.  The dogs were not in the house!

I went outside.  Looked in their pen.  No dogs!

Then I looked down at Ted's Ford Explorer.

Three happy golden retrievers were in his car.

Ted was closing the door.

Ted was smiling and talking to the dogs.

He saw me standing there.  He looked surprised.

He said he was abducting the dogs.

He was taking them to the beach.

We both laughed.  I didn't expect to find them loaded into the car!

I drove to the beach in my car.

They really enjoyed Ted throwing sticks for them.

They enjoy being scolded for having rocks in their mouths.

I think they carry rocks just to get his attention.

The dogs were disappointed Ted didn't take them back to his house.

During our vacation, Ted watched them off and on to give Herschell a break.

He cooked steak for them.  He brushed them.

He told me he entertained them in the morning by pulling sheets up over his head.

Then he would make a high pitch sound to lure all three dogs up onto the bed.

Poppy was the wildest he said.  Once Poppy stuck her foot into Ted's mouth!

This is what I was working on all day and night!

This one is a 14x20 oil on copper.

I decided to paint the peapod again.

I found another photo of the peapod on Monhegan Island.

I am glad I took several photos of this boat in different light.

I loved the shape and the way it was constructed.

The sun was out during this photo creating wonderful shadows.

Here is the grisaille of the boat I finished and sold yesterday.

It is a lower view of the boat.  The time of day is late afternoon.

The foreground is in shadow.  There is a small sunlight area inside of the boat.

The newest one today might be more dramatic because of the sunlight.

The viewpoint of the boat is higher showing more interior.

I will let this new one dry.  Then I will finish the color.

I am glad the drawing of the boat turned out good.

It takes a crazy amount of time painting the interior of the boat.

I don't think I have the patience to paint another boat for a while!

It sure does look nice though.

It was a pleasant overcast day here in Maine.

I wore shorts and sandals!

   Happy Memorial Day.  Good night.

May 25, 2018 Finished a Peapod Boat Painting From Monhegan Island.

"Faithful" 14x20 oil on copper   Sold.   Thank you.

I had a lot of fun last night painting on this peapod boat.

I saw this boat at Swim Beach on Monhegan island.

I admired how intricate the boat was designed.

I wondered if I could paint all those ribs inside the boat perfectly.

I admired the light and shadows.

I knew the flowers would be fun to paint if I could only pull off the boat!

I was concentrating so hard.

I finished at 3:30 am.

I sat there admiring the painting.

The grisaille underpainting helps me choose my colors tastefully.

   Jasper Beach!  Good night.

May 23, 2018 To The Beach With Three Golden Retrievers!

It is easy to see how one of my dog's feet ended up inside of a large fountain soft drink cup.

Orange soda went everywhere!

Monet's neck and stomach were bright orange.

We are not going to point any fingers.

It made for a more exciting trip to the beach!

I do love the smell of orange.

It was a beautiful day at the beach!

We walked all the way to the end of the beach and back.

Lily decided she would stay at the beach.

Poppy and Monet were inside the van watching Lily on the beach.

She is an independent dog.

We love Lily's personality.

There was a Mother with a child and black lab at the beach when we first arrived.

The Mother watched my dogs exit the van.

They were barking their heads off.

They jumped over me like a pack wild wolves.

I waved to her.  I thought this might settle her nerves.

I threw a towel on the orange soda area.

She didn't need to know about that!

The Mother put her child into the car for safe keeping till we passed.

I thought that was kind of funny.

She must have been very worried about us!

My new LED lights installed recently are not working.

Ted will try to fix them tomorrow.

Then I should be able to get back to painting.

Good night!

May 22, 2018 Working On A Painting Of Monhegan Island Museum.

It feels so good to be painting in oils on copper!

I chose this Monhegan Island scene by the lighthouse of the museum.

I decided to pay careful attention to the windows and the dory.

I will wait for this grisaille to dry.

I think I will start another painting tonight!

The pups enjoyed Sandy Point Beach today.

Perfect weather!  Just a few black flies!

While I was cleaning last week I discovered a few old SD cards.

Here is Robert with Duke and Daisy on Monhegan Island.

We climbed all over Monhegan that day.

Good memories.

Robert was enjoying Monhegan Island ice cream.

I believe Duke and Daisy ate ice cream.

Robert took this photo of Daisy and Duke and I by the lighthouse.

This is one of my favorite photos.

We were still living in our Airstream RV at a campground when these photos were taken.

The year was 2007.  We had just arrived in Maine.

Good night.

May 20, 2018 Trying To Get Back In To Painting After Taking Three Weeks Off.

"Fresh Flowers" 7x5 ink with watercolor.

I have been trying to get my groove back!

It sure is difficult trying to concentrate.

I was overthinking what to paint for a week without any results.

I purchased a few fresh flowers to paint.

I admired them for awhile.

Then it worked!

"Flowers At Night" 7x5 ink with watercolor.

I enjoyed drawing and painting in watercolors.

I worked on this oil on copper size 14x20 for hours today.

I didn't like it.

I wiped it off.

I just told myself, "It is ok.  At least you are painting."

I realized painting everyday is a blessing.

Good night.

May 19, 2018 Road Trip To Jasper Beach in Maine.

We drove two hours to Jasper Beach in Maine.

The dogs were very timid yet excited to see a new place.

The beach was huge but they chose to stick close together.

The interesting part about this beach are the extraordinary smooth rocks.

These rocks create a hissing noise when the water rushes back out to sea.

All the way down the beach to the right are larger rocks.

The dogs really enjoyed climbing the rocks.

Poppy climbed the ten foot enbankment.

Lily followed her.

It was a great day for all of us.

There were many different colors of rocks.

All the way down the beach to the left is a nice inlet of salt water going into a lagoon.

I loved this area.

   It was worth the drive.

The dogs slept all the way home.

"Monet's Garden" 4x5 oil on copper 100$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping included.

I painted this miniature painting last night.

It was nice to paint again.

I thought I would do a small one to warm up!

Good night.

May 18, 2018 Three Golden Retrievers and Seven New Dog Toys!

I decided to sit a bag of new dog toys on a chair.

My dogs watched with curiousity.

Lily was the most assertive!

She had her head inside the plastic bag.

Her Mom and Dad watched.

   Lily grabbed the best toy!

Inside the yellow hive are three bee toys.

I was surprised Poppy hung around.

When there are new toys Poppy runs to hide.

This time Poppy had her eye on a few toys.

   Monet shuffled through the bag.

He was reluctant to pick one out!

He could not decide.

Lily came back with her new yellow bee hive in her mouth.

She wanted another toy but the hive was too large.

Monet eyed the pink bear.

He just could not decide.

Poppy lost patience.

Lily drops the yellow hive to grab the pink bear.

Monet decides he does want the pink bear.

Behind their backs Poppy grabs the yellow hive!

She runs upstairs to hide the hive!

   Lily gets the pink bear.

Dad is not happy.

He cries.

Oh my.

I distract Monet by showing him the other unclaimed toys!

Lily is parading around the house with the big pink bear.

Poppy is still upstairs playing with her yellow hive.

Lily has set aside the pink bear.

She comes back for another toy!

Monet still has not picked out one.

He woofs when Lily comes back.

I know what he is thinking!

"Lily, these are all mine!"

   The yellow hive reappears mysteriously!

Lily has her mouth full of toys.  What to do!

Poppy is standing there smiling.

She is enjoying all the toy drama!

Monet takes a few abandoned toys to his bed.

He is still eyeing a few other toys.

He makes high pitched barks from his bed.

I am glad to see Poppy playing with toys!

   Everyone is happy!

I am trying to decide what to paint!

I might just head outside with my paint box tomorrow.

Goodnight.

May 17, 2018 Mom Loved Her French Linen Pant Suit! French Market Photos.

I purchased this blue linen pant and shirt set in Rouen, France.

I sent it to my Mom for her Mother's Day gift.

I wanted to send her something special.

She loved it!

It fit her perfect!

We were both very thrilled it fit her!

She had plans to wear it soon.

We are both very pleased.

Dad liked his swiss chocolates.

I am still reorganzing my house!

Spring cleaning.

I thought I would share more photos of France.

   Everything was so beautiful.

French markets are the most beautiful I have ever seen!

May 15, 2018 Visited Ted, Saw Robin's Eggs, and Amish Horses In Thorndike, Maine.

Monet, Poppy, and Lily waited for Ted to visit this morning.

Ted had said he was going to stay home, fish at a lake, and metal detect.

I decided to take the dogs to Ted's house for a visit.

He drives an hour each way to visit us most days.

When we were on our vacation,

Ted installed a new toliet, installed new LED lights, and

fixed the basement lights in our house.

I asked him the price of his repairs.  He said it was a gift.

Ted is our special friend.

Ted smiled when we showed up!

He said, "Wow what a surprise!  Thank you for visiting me!"

First he showed us his two nests on his porch.

A robin had three eggs.

There were five eggs in the fly catchers nest.

He said birds like to nest under his porch

because crows will not eat the baby birds.

We drove to his friend's house to view piliated woodpecker's nest.

We could not see anything.

One parent piliated woodpecker sat on the eggs in a tree trunk

while the other parent hunted for food.

Then we walked the dogs at a private estate owned by his friend.

The dogs have been here many times.

They ran around with their tails wagging!

Ted sprayed us all down with special cinnamon spray to deter ticks.

He showed me a place he sat with Luke.

Monet was happy to sit next to Ted.

Monet walked by Ted's side during the entire visit.

Look how nice Monet's hair looks!

He needed a puppy cut.

Thorndike, Maine is a very beautiful place.

The Amish live there.

Thorndike is very quiet.

   We visited the Amish store.

We saw three horses with an Amish man.

In the distance I could see an Amish home.

Smoke was coming out of the chimney.

I was impressed with the amount of laundry drying.

Farther in the distance I could see many cows.

I think this would have been fun to paint.

It was a pleasant day for all.

I am finished with laundry, now I need to organize my clothes, and get ready to paint!

Good night.

May 14, 2017 Back Home In Maine.

We are back home in Maine!

The flight was delayed in Iceland to USA for 11 hours.

We ate dinner a few times thanks to Iceland Air.

We took turns walking around the airport.

We read books.

Then we stayed in the Hilton in Boston compliments of Iceland Air.

We had missed our bus so we had to stay overnight in Boston.

I loved the Hilton breakfast buffet.  Oh man!

I didn't mind the 11 hour delay at all.

It is great to be back home.

Our dogs gave us a grand reception!

Robert took this photo of me in Monet's Garden in France.

He sure does take great photos.

I am so grateful for my Sister in Law Edith and her Husband Tjitte.

What a wonderful trip we had.

I am so glad we had a good time together.

Here they are in Monet's Garden.

I wish I could give Edith and Tjitte another big hug right now.

I guess the thought will need to be enough.

Thank you Herschell for watching three large dogs!

Thank you Ted for doing house repairs, watching the dogs, and taking Herschell to the airport

at 4:00 am!

May 11, 2018 Black Sand Beach Of Iceland and More Icelandic Horses.

During our travels today in Southern Iceland I took more horse photos.

She was curious.

She tossed her head, shifted her bangs, and looked at me.

She stood closest to the highway.

In the distance one horse rolled around to scratch her back.

   Beautiful.

Here is Robert's photo of the black sand beach.

Robert said this is the only black sand beach in the world.

The others are grey not black.

I admired this waterfall from the car.

This is Robert's photo of the waterfall.

We are heading back to Maine tomorrow early morning.

It should take us 6 hours by airplane and 5 hour bus ride to Bangor, Maine.

Good night.  It has been a wonderful vacation!

I am ready to see my dogs and friends and paint!

May 10, 2018 Icelandic Horse Photos!

Robert and I went to a volcano crater, the largest waterfall, another

geothermic spa, and took many photos of the icelandic horses.

   Icelandic horses have no diseases.

They do not have any immunity to diseases either.

Iceland does not allow horses to come into their country.

They do not have any predators.

If the Icelandic horses are wild then they need to survive harsh climates and starvation.

They have many different gaits.

One gait allows them to travel over rough terrain.

Icelandic horses have been pure for 1000 years.

I loved this guy.  Lots of personality.

I shot some photos while the car was in operation with my Canon Rebel 6T with 300 lens.

Icelandic mares can deliver up to 26 years old.

They can not be riden until they are 8 years old when their bones harden.

They are in their prime from 8-18 years old.

I saw only two colts today.

All the horses were in captivity.

The sun makes the landscape and horses so beautiful.

Thank you Robert for another exciting traveling day!  Wow.  Grateful.

Good night.

May 9, 2018 Soaked In The Hot Waters of Blue Lagoon in Iceland! Icelandic Horses!

I would like to remember soaking in the geothermic mineral waters at the Blue Lagoon in

Iceland.

It was an incredible experience.

The waters were so perfectly warm.

It was heaven.

The hot water from the geothermic water mix with the cold icelandic ocean creating a blue/green.

The water in the pools are refreshed naturally by the ocean.

I enjoyed floating for a few minutes.

We were there for three hours.

They gave us a silica mask at a station we walked to in the pool.

Then we had a algae mask.

The results were a super clean face.

Robert surprised me with two different viking like REAL tatoos.

The tatoos were on each arm.

They looked great.

The pools were surrounded by cooled volcano lava.

A waterfall fell on your shoulders creating a massage.

They allowed us one free drink each.

What an experience.  Thank you Robert.

This cat looked like a viking cat.

We discovered this is a very popular cat in Iceland.

He has the 'look'.

Robert took this photo with the Canon rebel 6t and 300 lens.

The Icelandic horses have long wild hair just like the cat!

   They are lovely!

I think the wind has something to do with their hair style.

We are having so much fun.

Robert and I travel very well together.

Good night.

May 8, 2018 We Flew To Reykjavik, Iceland Today.

   We are in Reykjavik, Iceland.

The flight from Amsterdam, Holland was almost three hours.

We drove in a rental car to the center of Reykjavik.

Above is an interesting rocket shaped Church.

I have thought for decades metal siding would be an excellent choice

for Maine houses.

In Reykjavik, many building are covered in metal siding.

The siding is painted bright colors or left silver.

I think this is so smart!

Mouse proof, termite proof (if there were termites), mouse or squirrel proof,

and snake proof!  Water proof!  So smart!  Robert likes the metal siding!

We are staying in a hotel called Room With A View.

Here is our view from the room.  All the buildings are metal!

I think metal would handle wind.

The taxi driver told us wind has blown the doors off of cars.

No more rotten wood to replace.

Reykjavik is very modern.

It seems like the majority of people in Reykjavik are in their 20's.

A bottle of water cost us 5$ US.

Dinner was the most expensive thing we purchased!  88$ for two.

We had 12 chicken wings, one greek salad, and his dinner was 4 ounces of Char fish, dilled

potatoes slivers, with a little salad, with one draft Icelandic beers.

It is cooler here in Iceland.

The weather is perfect.

We have our winter gear from Maine.

Robert had an experience with the shower tonight.

I heard many screams coming from him in the shower.

I asked if he was ok.  Nothing.  More screams.

I asked him, "What is happening?"

Finally in between screams he says, "Oh the shower...I just can't ..ooooh owwww!"

I was worried.  I really could not figure out what was happening.

I could hear his feet slipping on the bathtub surface.

I could hear loud, "Crap Crap Crap!"

Then Robert comes out of the shower.

His skin was all red.

The water was very hot.  Water was all over the floor.

He said, "Oh.  That is a sign of a good shower".

So funny.  He wanted me to take a shower.

I told him I was not going to do it.

I will wait till tomorrow.

Herschell sent me this photo of Ted on the ground with Monet, Lily, and Poppy.

He said Ted took the dogs and him for a walk.  I laughed.

Herschell (dog sitter #1 from Florida) had the dogs for two nights.

Ted (dog sitter #2 from Maine) has the dogs tonight.

Sounds like they kind of fight over who can watch the dogs.

They are good dogs.  Thank you Herschell and Ted!

We should be home in a few more days.  Good night.

May 7, 2018 Traveled To Rouen, France To See Monet's Church.

We traveled to many towns along the Normandy Beaches.

Then we arrived in Rouen, France.

We viewed the church Claude Monet painted.

I saw the church during late afternoon light and evening.

We dined across from the church outside.

Here is a detail photo of the same church late afternoon.

The church is huge and extremely tall.

I can not imagine how Monet painted this church.

The church was my second favorite sight to see.

   This was my favorite desert.

It was called  the Floating Island.

It consists of egg white top.

The egg white sat on top of a cream.

The sauce was carmel with roasted almonds.

Topped with confection sugar.

I must mention this amazing huge pot of steamed mussels Robert ordered.

He had this dish at a beach in Normandy called Arromanches.

I loved this beach!

The mussels had a cream of mushroom sauce.

There were many vegetables also in the sauce.

The mussels were pink compared to Maine's yellow or cream colored mussels.

All of the food in France was of fantastic quality.

We drove on to stay on a ship overnight called the SSRotterdam.

This was a ship retired but renovated and used like a floating hotel.

You felt as if you were on a cruise.

Next we traveled to Kinderdijk where 19 windmills are located.

We took a boat ride along a canal to view the windmills.

I enjoyed Edith my sister in law very much.

Her husband Tjitte was just an amazing person as well.

He drove with great skill all over Holland, Belgium, and France.

Edith taught me many words in Dutch and French.

She kept an eye out for me in crowded gardens while I photographed.

I may have been lost without Edith.

Sometimes I saw Tjitte or Robert watching after me.

It was a group effort!   I was so inspired.  I took many photos.

I decided not to paint.

It was great to take a break from painting.

Tomorrow we are heading to Iceland by plane.

We will tour Iceland for three days.

What an incredible experience!

Good night.

May 5, 2018 Toured Normandy Beaches in France.

We were staying in a large house in Soren, France.

We toured the Mont St Michele.

We stop every few hours for my Dutch comrades to have coffee and desert!

I drink water or coke.  The deserts are amazing.

Here is the best desert ever!  Apricot custard pie.

This is another desert I ate for dinner.

There was a thick short bread topped with a creamy sweet sauce then decorated

with fruit.  A tangy citrus and raspberry sauce decorated the plate.

For dinner I had a few other courses.

The two hand sized ribeye steak had so much flavor.

The St Michele was amazing to visit.

The structure was started in 809 as a tribute to the archangle St Michele.

We climbed and toured the cathedral at the top!

I decided to have Spagetti Bolonaise instead of desert.  Wow.

We stopped at many different beaches along the way to Rouen.

We are staying in a private condo viewing the Sien River.

Robert used a website called Airbnb to book private houses.

Hotels are expensive.

Houses are wonderful!

Now we are off to dinner in Rouen.  Good night.  Bon Soir!

May 2, 2018 Went To Giverny Monet's Garden!

I took a photo with Claude Monet at his house in Giverny, France.

I tried to dress like a French lady.  Note the yellow beret purchase.

I love the yellow beret.

Monet's Garden was beautiful today.  Spring was here.

   The sun was out.

Temperatures were perfect!

Monet's house was long and large.

  Lilacs are in bloom.

Monet's property was full of different types of landscapes to paint.

The fruit trees were in bloom.

Robert took this photo of me wearing my silk tunic and yellow beret!

  Tjitte is on the left,

Robert,

then Edith (Robert's Sister)

and I in the foreground.

We were in Monet's dining room.

We dined al fresco at a restaurant across from Monet's house!  Here is Monet's salad.

It contained Duck pate, gingerbread slices, smoked salmon, lettuce, tomatoes,

boiled green beans, and little languinos from the river.

The dressing consisted of cream, vinegar, and mustard.

It was amazing.  Thank you Robert, Edith, and Tjitte for taking me to France.

What a dream come true!  Good night.

May 1, 2018 Lyon La Foret in France! Exciting Day!

We drove all day to Lyon La Foret in France.

This town is very close to Monet's garden.

They were celebrating May 1.

We purchased four slices of mushroom and salmon quiches and two baguettes.

We also purchased a baked farm fresh chicken with little yellow potatoes.

The chicken had a wonderful rich flavor!

The town was full of people!

The large house above was once owned by Maurice Ravel.

He composed the famous classical song.

Here is a wonderful basket I admired.

  I enjoyed today.

There are fields of a yellow blossoming plant here in France.

The plant was rapeseed.

We are headed to Monet's Garden tomorrow.  Good night.
