June 30, 2016 Went To Camden Harbor and Port Clyde! Photos!

In Port Clyde, I watched a red headed lobsterman work.

Beautiful Raspberry Island and Port Clyde in the distance.

This is the Wyeth, Eight Bells, home in Port Clyde.

Today was a non painting day for me!  I just felt like exploring.

I had a blast drawing with my Sketch-N-Can.

Across the street from the Camden Yacht Club is a beautiful flower garden!

I chatted with painter Carol while I used the Sketch-N-Can!  I was using the lid as a view finder!

Carol says she loves her Sketch-N-Can too!  She says she loves how light weight, how she can lay

the can on the ground with the lid closed, to see her sketch, and it won't blow away!

I found this cute white padded leather chair for the tiny house!

I set up my palette with oils.

I use a 14x20 copper panel for the palette!

Robert brought in an electrical cord for the otti light!

I sat in my chair, looked around, and listened to Reggae music last night.

I am still taking it all in!  Today I found a nice thick rug.

I think the interior needs to be painted white!

I will be heading out to Monhegan Island July 2 for 7 days!

I am sharing the Wik Wak house with three artists and one wife of  an artist.

I am relaxing before I start to paint Monhegan Island paintings all day!

If you are in the area, come out to Monhegan to say hello!

Good night.

June 29, 2016 The Famous Abandoned Captain's House In Searsport Is Being Taken Down!

A painting client sent me a newspaper clipping from the Bangor Daily News.

The owner, Douglas Brown, of Belfast, is slowly dismantling his wonderful condemned Searsport

home!

Link:  http://bangordailynews.com/2016/06/28/news/searsports-much-photographed-dilapidated-house-to-be-taken-down/

I was happy to read the first owner really was Captain Joseph Loomis Park.

Wonderful information in this article.

Glad to see the owner will be saving every board and the contents.

This home was photographed by so many people.

The house was also a topic in many conversations.  Who lived there?

What happened?  So many unanswered questions.

I loved the green bathroom sink.  The sink just glowed!

The sink may be my favorite item in the house.

Photos do not capture the color or surface of this sink!

Bedroom closet, upper right front corner of the house.

Downstairs right front of the house.

   Have a good night!

UPDATE:   I was given permission to paint at the old house!

"Memories" 20x26 oil on copper 1750$ framed in gold and shipped.

Here it is finished!  It took me five days of painting in front of the house.

Very strange thing, I kept seeing someone move in the right upper bedroom.

The owner told me many people have told him the same thing.

Good night.

June 28, 2016 Cleaning Up The Tiny House To Be Art Studio And Gallery!

I took out all the tiny house's car floor mats, carpets, stickers on the walls, and all

fish shack decorations.

I cleaned all the windows inside and outside, doors, table, and all the surfaces.

Then I took the vacuum cleaner inside!

The tiny house had been stored by it's first owner in a garage.

The second owner kept it in a garage except the last year.

The last year it was on land by a lake.

The tiny house is in remarkable shape!

I invited Monet, Poppy, and Lily to see the new addition!

I had to coax Lily inside.  She was running all around the backyard.

I sat down on the couch.  Monet decided it was a great idea!

He placed his front feet over my lap to protect me!

Two new mattresses are in the loft with sleeping bag and camping pillow!

I may sleep here tonight just for the fun and adventure of it all!

I brought in a studio stool and placed in under the table by the ladder.

Then I decided to put a white quilt over the couch.

I put the honey pot into the shower stall to the left of the couch.

I took out the plastic shower curtain and tarp surrounding the shower stall.

I may need to take the bookcase out above the couch so I can hang more paintings!

Here is the view from the backyard looking up towards the house, airstream, and now tiny house!

It looks nice.

I sat inside the tiny house for a long time today with the door closed.

It is very quiet inside because of the thick board exterior, insulation, and interior wood.

I was so pleased to discover the quietness!

I placed a vinyl tropical looking tablecloth over the table.

I set a tabletop easel on to the table.

This will be the perfect place to work on paintings!

I hope to hang paintings for clients to view even when I am out painting!

Either I might have a combination lock on the door, send out a key to each client,

or keep it open.  I will have to think it over.  I do love the honor system idea.

Imagine walking in to the tiny house to examine the paintings, view what the artist

is working on, sit and have a glass of lemonade, and be able to buy a painting

without anyone there!  I love the idea!

   Have a great night!

June 27, 2016 Tiny House is Home in Bucksport, Maine!

Seven days ago I purchased this tiny house for 750$ in Limerick, Maine.

I called around to locate someone to tow the tiny house home.

They gave me high estimates of 600$.

I called AAA New England, told them I had purchased a tiny house on a trailer, would their

membership cover a tow?

"Oh sure it would with their premiere membership with RV protection", said the lady at AAA.

AAA gives you one free tow with their premiere membership.

I was so excited to hear this!

Seven days passed.  I called AAA to schedule the tow.

They said I could use my membership for the tow but needed to be at the trailer.

I drove 3 hours to Limerick, Maine, called AAA road services.

I called AAA back when I arrived to the trailer.

New lady says, "No way!"

She says, "You can't just get AAA membership to tow a trailer you just bought."

"Your trailer has existing problems so will not be covered with AAA."

I called AAA again, told a new lady I would like a tow, she said I would be covered.

She was scheduling a tow.

One hour later the other lady called me to say it would not be covered.

I gave up hope for AAA roadside services.

I called a tow company who quoted me 600$, they said they were on their way, but an hour later canceled.

By this time it was 90 degrees out there!

I decided to take a drive.  I would look for garage or someone who could tow!

No luck in the small town of Limerick, Standish, and many other towns.

Then I decided to have a hitch put on my van!  Yes!  No...no one around to do that.

Just as I was giving up, I called AAA to ask if they could find a tow truck.

An hour later, AAA roadside service called back, and said they found a tow truck for 600$.

Six hundred dollars is so much money to me.

Another hour passed by, a tow truck driver called to ask questions, and give me a quote for 600$.

I was lost somewhere between Standish and Baldwin and some other town.

I was driving around trying to get back to Limerick!

At least the ac was working well in the car.

I found Limerick and met the driver.

He hitched up the tiny house on the trailer.

Everything worked out fine in the end.  The tiny house towed great.

I am still perplexed about AAA roadside assistance.

The tiny house is in our front yard.  It looks great!

Tomorrow I will clean the house, move art supplies inside, and paint!

I am glad it all worked out!  Now I will sell a few more paintings soon!

June 26, 2016 Painting In Camden Harbor!

"Camden Harbor" 6x8 oil on copper  Almost finished!  A few boats left.

"Camden Harbor" 6x8 oil on copper Finished!  450$ framed in gold.  Shipping included.

UPDATE:  I worked until 12am in my studio until it was finished!

I painted in Camden Harbor today.

I met many nice people from all over the USA.

I gave out prints of a Stonington painting to children and adults.

I pointed out Camden Falls Gallery and even gave a few ladies a tour.

Carol was there finishing a commission. We painted for a while together.

I would tell people Carol had beautiful work in Camden Falls Gallery.

Then Carol would tell people I had beautiful work in this gallery too.

Then people laughed.

We did a good job today.

I love this large green umbrella.  I was in the shade all day!

I held Monet's Frosty Paw Dog Ice cream treat yesterday.

The girls, Lily and Poppy, seem better equipped at having their ice cream.

Monet's treat scoots around probably from being over eager!

   Lily loved her treat!

Thank you for the painting sales!

Luke visited for a few minutes.

Monet and Luke bonded in a sort of hug!

There was not much growling today because Luke hurt his

leg at the beach and was also very tired.

Many night it is Monet who holds hands with Robert.

Last night Lily was in Monet's place holding hands.

She had such a peaceful happy look on her face.

She knows she is loved.

Robert purchased an orange soccer ball yesterday.

They were so excited about their new toy!

Have a good night.

June 25, 2016 Photos of Stonington, Maine.

I slept great in my Ford Transit Connect Van if anyone would like to know!

Yes there was plenty of room to stretch out.

The dark room drapes hanging on shower curtain rods created privacy and a sense a peace.

I had two brand new therapeutic dog beds covering the entire back.

I went to sleep before sunrise and woke up at 8am!

It was amazing to open the side door, jump out, and see 180 degree views of the sea!

Salt air was so nice.

It was so beautiful in Stonington.  I spent most of my taking photos!

Monet, Poppy, and Lily had Frosty Paws Doggy Ice cream to celebrate recent painting

sales.  Robert brought home a special doggy toy!  Photos tomorrow!

June 24, 2016 Painting And Camping In Stonington, Maine!

"Stonington Summer" 6x8 oil on copper.   Sold!  Thank you so much.  Happy Birthday.

   I can't top yesterday's experience!

I am painting in Stonington!

I painted on Main Street.

I will stay one night at the Campground on Oceanview Rd.

I will be able to see how my new van is for camping!

I visited with Dundee, the orange Maine Coon cat!

He is doing well.  He had a nice winter said his owner.

His owner went to stay in Camden for the winter.

He found someone to watch after Dundee so he could still roam around in Stonington.

He said Dundee would not do well in Camden, too much traffic!

I met an old man named Bill who lived by the Camden National Bank in Stonington.

He had the house with the yard full of interesting large finds, boats, cars, and played loud

classical music.

The town made him sell the house and land on the ocean for 150,000$.

They loaded up many dump trucks and created a park.

Now he lives next door with his girlfriend.

He told me a tale about a woman who lived across the street from the Harbor View Store.

She was  a witch who lived with many pet porcupines, pot bellied pig, and a few other strange

animals.

He said he would visit and hold the porcupine.

The witch told him to pet the porcupines in one direction so the quills didn't stab him.

Then he told me another tale of shooting a porcupine who had entered his house one winter.

He repeated twice porcupines are the only animal who will come find a human when they need help.

The porcupine still knew how to exit the house and bled to death in his yard.

A few friends decided to eat the porcupine.

They cut the porcupine open and were surprised at how many moving creatures like worms

and other crawly things were inside.

They left the porcupine be for a few hours, returned to find all the critters had left the body, and

so they looked at the porcupine's liver and thought it edible.

They made a fine porcupine liver stew and invited the town doctor to dinner.

They all enjoyed the stew.

Monet and Lily were playing games today.

She has been taking away Monet's toys, sticks, food all her life!

She worms around while he growls and wrinkles his nose.

Then he lets her have whatever she wanted!

Have a good night!

June 23, 2016 Adventure Touring Inside Famous Abandoned Searsport House!

I was driving by the famous abandoned Captain Park's house in Searsport this morning.

I noticed a large truck trailer in the front yard!

I decided to investigate!

First thing I did this morning was look under the house into the basement.

My painter friend Carol warned me about abandoned homes' basement being

full of black water.

This basement was free of water.

I walked around the right side of the house where I saw the backside wall had fallen out.

I was standing on the black shingles looking inside.

I noticed the floor boards inside the house looked firm.

I stepped inside the abandoned house.  I had no intentions of doing anything else.

I was inside!  My heart beat faster than it has beat in ten years!

I felt alive!

I suppose this is a result of painting 90% of my waking hours.

The parlor was wonderful.  I stood there admiring everything.

The crown moulding around the doorways caught my eye.

They were in perfect condition, made of special wood, hand carved.

The design carved into the wood was hearts!

At this point I just wanted to see the staircase leading to the second floor.

It was spectacular!  The wood work on the staircase' walls were amazing.

The wood work on the staircase was in perfect condition.

All the plaster had fallen off the ceiling and walls.

I saw the green sink poking out of the bathroom.

I decided I must see the bathroom while I was here!

The floors were fine.  I just watched where I walked.

There were a few holes in the floor.

There were 10 or more tennis racket's in the claw footed bath tub.

While I was in the bathroom I heard a good sized animal come inside the abandoned house.

I froze listening to the animal's claws scratching the wood floor as he walked inside.

Then I heard him stop and sniff the air!

He sniffed for a solid minute.  Then he decided to leave the house.

I have no idea what type of animal this was.  It was not a cat or a dog.

It had to be either a bear, huge porcupine, or a large raccoon.

There was a smelly odor but not like a skunk.

With the animal gone I climbed the stairs!

I noted the wood on the stairs was strong.

The view was amazing looking down on the stairway.

What a beautiful house this once was.

This was the front bedroom, upstairs, on the right corner.

I found this bedroom most interesting.

I had always dreamed what it would be like in this bedroom because you could see a glimmer

of wallpaper sometimes from the missing front window while driving by.

Here is another view of the bedroom.

There was a good feeling inside this house.

The second bedroom on the second floor towards the right back side of the house

had a built in dresser.

Photo of the wallpaper and ceiling.

The third second floor bedroom on the left had a fireplace.

Above that fireplace I noticed a place in the ceiling where I could stick my tiny digital camera

up to take a photo of the attic.

This is the turret area you see in front of the house.

This is the bedroom turret.

This was the interior of that bedroom with the turret roof.

I admired the hallway.

The door leading ahead went to the area where the roof had caved in.

I didn't go into this room.

This was the front room on the first floor on the right.

There were either radios or televisions here with a metal bed.

Boxes of books lined the room.

Here is the parlor on the first floor to the left of the front door.

There were a few mailboxes, dressers, chairs, I believe a heater, and more books.

At the foot of the stairs by the front door an ice box or refrigerator sat with a end table on top.

Boxes of books were everywhere.

The front door knob and lock were beautiful.

I suspect a skeleton key would be used for that lock.

Carpet still remains on the steps on the staircase.

In the dining room, back side of the house, first floor, lie several containers.

Ammonia Sulfate was written on one container.

Bomb making chemical?  Hmmm..

UPDATE:  Ammonia Sulfate is used for soil fertilizer but it can be explosive in a fire.

The gas is deadly.

I didn't notice the do not enter sign until looking at this photo.

I enjoyed investigating this old abandoned home.

I hope you enjoyed it also.

UPDATE:  I was given permission to paint this old house!

"Memories" 20x26 oil on copper.  Framed in gold.  Sold. Thanks.

I spent five days painting at the old house!  It was exciting.

I kept seeing a person moving in the upstairs right bedroom.

The owner told me several other people have said the same thing.

"Illumination" 14x20 oil on copper  sold.  Thank you.

This is what I do when I am not out exploring!

"Solidarity" 6x8 oil on copper sold.  Shipped.

"Enchantment" 14x20 oil on copper  sold.  Thank you.

Good night!

June 22, 2016 Captain Joseph Loomis Park Married Susan Treat, Seven Children, Now Abandoned House!

I discovered Captain Joseph Loomis Park built this home in Searsport shortly before

he married the love of his life, Susan Treat, a 23 year old lady from Prospect.

Susan Parker Treat was his step-sister!!!!  Wow!  Discovered this on Ancestor.com!

I found this photo of Captain Joseph Loomis Park on Ancestor.com.

What a great looking Captain.

He sailed on two schooners, Schooner St Cloud, lost on Cape Ann, and Schooner Edward.

Consensus records of 1880 show Captain Park no longer a Captain, but a farmer.

Together they had seven children.

They were married February 3, 1842.

Their first child, Susan M Park was born in 1845.  She lived fifteen years before she died.

Joseph Park was born in 1849.   He died at birth.

December of 1851, Lydia Lavena Park was born. Lydia would live the longest of all the children.

She lived 64 years.

Catherine Griffin Park was born to Captain Park and his wife in India! Catherine was born in April 1959.

This means Susan Park traveled on Captain Park's ship all the way to India!

Catherine would live until she was 41.

The same year Catherine was born, a set of twins was born.

Naomi Park lived until she was 11.

Katie Park died at birth.

Six years later Edwin Stanton Park was born in Aug 1865.  He would live 25 years.

All the children were born in the house except one in India!

Buried in Bowditch Cemetery in Searsport.

According to 1880 consensus records there were the following living in the house:

Captain Joseph Loomis Park, his wife Susan T Park, Edwin son, 14 at school, Katie, daughter 21, a straw worker,

William Carver, a Sea Captain, 29, married to Daughter Lydia Levana Park now Vena L Carver,

their son William Park, one year old.  Later William Carver, Wife, Vena Carver leave Searsport.

They move to Iowa.   Consensus shows all three children dead at birth or there after.

They remained in Iowa.

I discovered an old photo of the house with the name McGreevey House written underneath.

I have shipped out all the paintings sold.

I reorganized the gallery and car after the art show!  What a mess!

I paid for a AAA premier membership on Monday.

They will allow me one free tow of 200 miles!

I will need to wait 7 days before I can use my one free tow.

I hope the tiny house will be towed on a low profile flat bed from Limerick

to Bucksport!

Good night!

June 21, 2016 The History Of Owners Famous Abandoned Searsport Home!

When I posted photos of this abandoned home in Searsport, Maine a few days ago, many

of my Mainer friends told me stories about the house!

I have discovered the entire home owner history of this home!

In 1830-1840's a Sea Captain named Joseph Loomis Park built this home.

Captain Park sold the home to Angus Holmes.

Angus Holmes owned the canning factory of Stockton Springs.

He sold the home to Ruth Allen.

Her son Robert Allen inherited the home.

Robert Allen worked down on the docks in Searsport.

He married a lady named Renee.

Renee divorced Robert Allen.  She moved out of state.

Robert Allen lived in the airstream camper now on the property.

He could not afford the maintenance on the home.

It was cheaper to live inside the Airstream during the Winter.

Robert Allen sold the home to an eccentric man named Douglas Brown.

Douglas Brown loved to buy these old homes, fill them up with auction treasures,

lock the door, and walk away.

He felt these old homes left to rot created interest for people in Maine.

One lady I know was friends with Renee who was married to Robert Allen.

In the early 1970's she remembers being inside the home.

She said the home was very nice then.

She thought the home was abandoned in 1978.

The sheer drapes inside the abandoned home were made of nylon.

Nylon sheer drapes were invented in 1938.

Earlier drapes were made of silk, chiffon, cotton.

I found a piece of sheer drapes that had fallen out of the window onto the ground.

The texture of the sheer drapes were very different than I have even see today.

The history of this house was a surprise!

I would never step foot inside an abandoned home because the basement

could be full of 50 year old black standing water!

Luke visited our house for a few minutes to say hello.

I gave Lily her first bath.  She was very well behaved and enjoyed the experience.

She gave me a few kisses on my neck when I was rinsing her.

She was so thrilled with the new experience!

I also gave Monet a bath.  I don't remember giving him a bath before!

He was very good.  He enjoyed it all.

Poppy took off and hid.   I could not find her inside the house.

Poppy says, "No bath ever!!"

Good night.

June 19, 2016 Opportunities Come With Outdoor Art Shows!

"Lupines Scented Laundry" 5x4 oil on copper.  sold.

I was thinking about the benefits of doing outdoor art shows today.

I was thinking it is not only the painting sales but the opportunity these shows provide!

"Elliot Mountain Trail" 8x10 oil on copper sold.  Thanks.

This one sold to a Father who purchased it for himself for Father's Day!

He was thrilled.  His family was busy so he shopped alone.

Later as I saw him crossing the street with a large family.

He was still smiling.

Today I met a Dentist who brings a group of people to St Petersburg, Russia to help with

dentistry there.  I have Dental Assistant experience.  He invited me to travel with them.

They are apart of the Seventh Day Adventists.  It sounded like a wonderful experience.

I was invited to participate in a Land Trust show on Mount Desert Island.

I have wanted to participate in this show for nine years!

They came to the show to invite me.

"Laying Eggs" 6x6 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thanks.

"Acadia Mountain And Spruce" 4x5 oil on copper sold.

The first year I did outdoor art shows I sold not one painting.

I did several outdoor shows that year!  Not just one show!  No sales!

I did not have the right frames.  I had handmade black wood contemporary frames.

I didn't have any cloth covering the metal walls of my display.

People could not see the art work because they were seeing through the display.

I also had too high of prices.

My prices were higher than famous painters!

I sat down the entire time I was at the outdoor shows.

I never spoke to a single client.

I was wearing Florida clothes.  I think I shocked a few New Englanders!

"Lupine and Daisies" 4x5 oil on copper.  sold.  Thanks.

Now I have a professional tent with white covers on my metal panels.

I have custom American made frames.

I have the proper prices.

I know what I paint best.

I stand to represent my work.

I speak to people and have a good time.

But most of all, my attitude is hopeful, and I never get discouraged.

"Jamie Wyeth's House" 5x4 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thanks!

"North Port Cottages" 4x5 oil on copper.  sold.  Thanks.

I think it takes a few years of being present at the same outdoor show to build up clients.

Perhaps the first year regulars come and look at your work.

Then the second or third year they add one of the paintings to their collection.

Many clients are repeat customers.  They arrive smiling!

"Rowers Wanted' 4x5 oil on copper sold.

"Me and My Shadow" 6x6 oil on copper Sold.  Thanks.

An opportunity to show art work is rare.

Artists spend most of their time painting.

"We've Got Rhythm" 20x14 oil on copper sold.

"Stonington Sunset" 4x5 oil on copper.  sold.

I sold many 4x5.  I think it was the price that motivated these sales.

The highlight of the day was being taken out by painting clients who took me out to dinner.

I had wonderful mac and cheese lobster!  Thank you very much.

Robert did a really good job setting up the art display tent.

He is so tired.  I am too.  Good night!

"Sun Dazzled Acadia" 4x5 oil on copper.  Sold.  Thanks.

We had beautiful weather today in Bar Harbor.

Seems like this creates less people traffic in downtown Bar Harbor.

I think people go out hiking on the trails when it is such nice weather.

The results of the good weather seem to translate in to less sales for the artists.

I feel like I did ok.  I am just so grateful to sell any.

It is always a surprise every time I sell a painting.

I love to see old friends at the art show!

There are many hugs exchanged.

I had a better time because my painter friend Teddi was set up across from me!

I will share photos of our booths tomorrow.

Come out to the Bar Harbor Art in The Park from 9am-5pm!

I would love to meet you!  Good night.

June 17, 2016 Inside The Most Famous Abandoned House In Maine!

Everyone I know here in Maine talks about this abandoned  house in Searsport, Maine.

People from all over the world take photos of this house.

No one knows what happened to the owners of this house.

I have asked several people at different events and no one wants to talk about it.

I have learned different stories.

One story says the owner died, didn't like the relatives, in his will stated there would be no maintenance

done to this house.

If maintenance was done by the relatives, the house would then be awarded to the state.

Another story is the owner is in jail because he did something very bad.

I would like to think the owner is in a tropical paradise having a good time.

I ate a pound of butter pecan Amish fudge in two days.

This is the only excuse I have for what happened next!

I was driving by the old house.

I noticed the roof had caved in.

I saw what looked like an old trunk in the attic.

I turned the car around, parked, jumped out, and began exploring!

I stood on top of two fresh mounds of delivered soil in front of the house.

I don't think this looks like a trunk.

I see a faucet!  Could that be a very old bathtub?

I looked into a missing window in front of the house.

I noticed the whole back of the house's wall has collapsed!

Inside are many chairs and other stuff.

I could not recognize what the items were.

The dark item in the center of the floor caught my eye.

What was that?

I discovered that object in the center is a 1940's or older toaster!

That means the house could have been abandoned 70 years or more ago!

The interior of the house had no odor.  I was surprised.

I really wanted to jump through the open window and climb these stairs!

I didn't.  I really wanted to.

Look how short those steps are!

Your feet would need to be tiny!

I recognized a Victorian settee!

This would be a great angle to paint the house!

I was standing on top of a five foot mound of dirt!

There is an abandoned very old airstream on the property.

One couple told me once, they contacted the owners of the property, inquired about the airstream

to purchase it, and they said absolutely not!

No matter how much money was offered the owners were not interested and were mad.

The id number on the airstream says 3056.

I think the airstream is about 20 feet long.

The airstream's door is completely off it's hinges and on the ground!

What a shame.

Since the door is gone, it is easy to see inside the airstream!

The floor of the airstream is completely rotted out because the vent on the roof is gone.

Water has been draining into the airstream for years.

There are two garages on wheels.

There are many items stored in one.

The second garage on wheels has recently lost it's door's window.

The door is not open.

I looked inside to find a very old Dodge car!

On top of this old Dodge are many glass oil lamps!

Here is the old airstream's door.  Very damaged.

Have a good night.  Hope you enjoyed exploring Maine's most famous abandoned house!

UPDATE:  on July 2, 2017 I was given permission to paint the house.

June 16, 2016 Purchased Rustic Tiny House For An Art Studio!

This is my new tiny house/art studio!

I drove 4 hours to see this tiny house in Limerick, Maine.

I loved it!   It had character!

It had three windows and a door with a window!

The size is 6 x 12 foot.

The best part is the price!  750$.

It is paid in full!

Thanks to a painting client who purchase two larger works last night on my website!

Above the living area is a loft.

The ceiling looks like pine.  There is a ladder to get to the loft.

There is a wooden stove hole above a 22,000 btu propane gas heater!

I could have a wooden stove here since the hole is already there.

The windows are new.

There is a trap door for ice fishing or other use.

This is the living area.  There is a plaid 1940's couch that folds out to a twin bed with springs.

I decided the couch is staying.

To the left of the couch is a shower.  There is a shower drain.

I asked about water supply.

He said to use a 7 gallon bottle of water.  He once had a water heater.

The tiny house has many electrical outlets.  It has 120 volt wiring.

There is a desk to the left lower corner.

I loved the desk complete with white birch tree pole!

There are blackout curtains.  The window ceil is made of a raw piece of lumber.

I loved the wooden bookcase by the ladder.

Here is the ceiling with sticks for hanging things?

There is also a light above.

No leaks!

I spent most of my time under the trailer.

I took many photos.  I could tell there was rust.

I will have the tiny house towed to a tire place to buy two new tires plus look at the trailer.

At the very worst the trailer will need to be replaced because of excess rust.

I took a stick and banged on the trailer under the tiny house.

It sounded solid.

When I was standing inside the tiny house there was about two more feet above my head.

I think the house is about 8 feet tall.

It is all insulated inside as well!

This weekend I will be at the Bar Harbor Art in The Park Saturday and Sunday from 9-5pm.

On Monday I will bring home the tiny house!

June 15, 2016 Color Mixing With A Limited Palette. Two New Painitngs Of Lupines!

I decided to create color charts with the limited palette I use.

Here are the colors I use in oils by Gamblin:  Quinacridone Red, Cadmium Red Light,

Cobalt Blue, Cadmium yellow Light, and  Phalo Blue Green Shade (Winsor Newton)

plus Titanium White.

I used my 3x5 Sketch-N-Can paper to create these charts.

Below is the link to purchase one of my Sketch-N-Cans for 20$.

I love my Sketch-N-Can!

http://reneelammers.com/workszoom/2084826

I will be able to carry them around in my Sketch-N-Can once they dry.

Here are Cadmium Red Lights mixed with various colors then white until it becomes lightest.

I am glad I did this structured way of mixing colors.

I learned there were a few colors I never mixed together!

Here are the Quinacridone Reds mixed with various colors and then white until it becomes lighter.

Here are Quinacrine Red continued.

Here are Cobalt Blue mixed with various colors then white until it becomes lighter.

I had never thought of mixing Cobalt Blue with Phalo Blue Green Shade then White!

What a beautiful color!

Cobalt Blue mixed with Quinacridone Red looks almost like Ultramarine Blue!

Cobalt Blue, Phalo Blue Green, and Cadmium Yellow Light looks like Emerald Green.

Well that was a great use of an hours time!

"Twinkle" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping included.

I have been very busy painting.

The news from Orlando, Florida is so disturbing yet because I am from the area, I feel

compelled to watch.

I do feel safer and more relaxed living in Maine.

"Sailing Into Somes Sound" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipped.

I worked from an image on the computer monitor but pulled out my plein air paintings of

lupines to paint the flowers!

"Lupines Dancing In The Light" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.

Shipped.

I prefer backlighting flowers to paint on a very sunny day.  The colors are richer.

There are definite shadows and highlights.

Ted brought Amish fresh butter pecan fudge for us this morning.

Luke wasn't allowed to get into the private dog park in our backyard because

we don't want puppies right now!

We all enjoyed their visit.

Lily is an excellent hole digger.  She finds rocks, brings them to me as presents, then

I throw they over the fence!  Hours of entertainment for Lily.  She was tired.

Poppy was waiting for me to throw a ball!  She is incredibly athletic.

Lily and Poppy are best friends.

Have a great night.

June 14, 2016 Trip To Gentle Meadow Goat Farm in Winterport, Maine!

I made an appointment with Gentle Meadow Goat Farm in Winterport to visit Shea Rolnick.

I wanted to purchase goat milk soap, take photos of her goats, and learn more about goats.

Shea took me on a tour of her goat farm.

These goats are spoiled, very friendly, and reminded me of golden retrievers!

Goats can nip but can not bite because of how their teeth are arranged.

Here is the main billy goat who studs the lady goats.

He was very handsome.

The female goat on the right is the queen goat.

She keeps the other female goats in line.

She wears a bell around her neck to alert the others she is coming!

There were three baby goats born this year.

The babies are shy and don't like being touched.

Shea tried to coax two babies out of the box.

One of the girls poked her head out to get petted.

   That was so cute.

Goat's stomachs become larger when they are digesting their food.

I think she said they lay down when they are ruminating.

I met a pair of year old twins who enjoy playing together.

They have a fenced wooded area to explore a few times a day.

A bored goat is a naughty goat.

There is plenty for the goats to do on this farm.

They are treated with great compassion.

My plan is to paint a few goats for a painting.

I will allow Shea Rolnick to use the painting image anyway she would like.

If you would like to purchase wonderful goat milk soap from Shea, click on this link.  Thanks!

June 13, 2016 Magical Sorrento, Maine!

"Solidarity" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold shipping included.

I finished this painting of five skiffs from Sorrento today.  I do not think I will try to paint

so many skiffs in a 6x8 space again.  It is so much easier to paint larger.

I hope these skiffs look unified and happy bouncing around the water together.

Sorrento is a magical place.  I met a wonderful lady yesterday at the dock.

She had me sit down on a bench, recited a poem she wrote, and showed me around Sorrento!

What an amazing experience.  I have never  had something so nice happen to me before.

There was a small cottage on a tiny island on the right.

They built a small wooden walkway to their island for access.

I found an old sanded down dory in a building.  Swallows were nesting inside the building.

They were flying in and out singing their song.

The dogs are having a wonderful time in their new fenced area.

Have a good night.

June 11, 2016 Took Window Pane Photos For My Mom. Camden Harbor Photos!

My Mom has been dreaming of painting window paintings for more than fifteen years.

She found French windows to photograph and paint.

She has been doing wonderful paintings of windows.

I hope she likes these photos.

I will send her photos to paint if she likes them.

I had two ticks climbing on my shirt sleeve in the car!

I showered with dishwashing soap to kill any ticks!

This is the first time in 9 years I have had ticks on me!

I even had special spray on my pants!

   Camden Harbor was lovely tonight!

Robert was cooking chicken for our dogs on the Green Egg!  He also cooked hamburgers for us.

I cut up a watermelon.  The dogs tested the watermelon for the first time.

Monet let his slice fall out of his mouth.

He ate his piece only after seeing me enjoy my slice!

The girls had the same reaction.

Have a good night!

June 10, 2016 Beautiful Sorrento, Maine Photos! Robert And The Bees!

Sorrento, Maine has beautiful skiffs lined up along their dock!

I was very pleased to see them!  I took many photos!

I paint skiffs, dories, and rowboats from photos normally because they move!

These skiffs were all fiberglass but I liked their shape and colors.

I am looking forward to painting here on a bright sunny day!

Robert called me last night.  He said he was coming home with a new bee nuke!

I grabbed my camera and waited for him.

He darned his bee suit.

He grabbed the bee nuke and headed down the hill carefully!

I did not have my bee suit on.  If he fell down the hill, the bees would escape, and come after me!

I was taking photos.  I was so glad he made it down the hill safely.

He opened the nuke.  He pried the wax partition out of the hive.

Each partition is full of bees.

I have read there are between 30,000-50,000 bees inside one nuke!

The bees clung to the wax partition to keep warm and to protect the queen.

The queen is inside a special queen box with wax on both sides.

The worker bees (all girls) are suppose to remove the wax in the queen box to free her.

Beekeepers put the queen inside this box to protect her.

The smell of the queen is unique.

The worker bees (all girls) and the drones (all boys) bond to her smell.

They have a few days of smelling the queen before they arrive at their new home.

They will protect, feed, and care for the queen.

Bees are so very complex and interesting.

Here is the wax partition or nuke wall covered with bees on both sides.

He put all the partitions inside a new hive very carefully so he would not smash a bee.

Some beekeepers will but the queen inside the hive first.  They also take out the wax plug

to release her.  Sometimes the worker bees can not remove the plug and the queen dies.

The queen could fly out of the hive also by removing the wax plug for the worker bees.

Robert prefers to put the partitions inside without searching for the queen's box.

The queen's box is hidden somewhere in there but covered with worker bees and drones.

He put sugar water in a special container for the bees to sip.

Today a few new bees were flying near our dogs just checking them out.

One bee sipped out of my water glass.

A few more bees swarmed around my head checking me out.

One bee came into our house and left.

No one has been stung.  They are settling into their new home!  Good job Robert!

Good night.

June 9, 2016 Photos of Lupines on Mount Desert Island, Maine!

Here are a few photos taken yesterday on Mount Desert Island, Maine!

   I use my Sketch-N-Can everyday!

I saw two romantic deer on the island.

They looked so healthy and happy!

Lily was looking at both her parents, Monet and Poppy, rolling around in the grass!

"Illumination" 14x20 oil on copper.  sold.  Thanks.

I finally finished this painting!  I decided there needed to be ropes in front of both skiffs.

I am proud of this painting!  Done!

I decided to darken the background, add more highlights, and whiten the newspaper comics

under the teddy bears!

Have a good night.

Oh my I had a good time today.  I painted lupines until the light failed.

This was the last lupine painting out of three done today.

I would call this painting a retina burn as my eyes felt burnt for sure afterwards!

There is nothing like painting en plein air!

"Lupines Swaying at Somes Sound" 4x5 oil on copper 250$ framed in gold.  Shipped.

I was holding on to my easel while painting because the winds were strong.

What fun!

The winds died down and there was a beautiful glow to the mountains before the golden hour.

Colors were intense.

I am glad I painted lupines from life.

Lupines are full of many colors.

The greens of the lupines are a bright yellow in the sunlight.

June 6, 2016 Beautiful Night In Castine, Maine! Lupines and Lilacs Everywhere!

I was busy all day framing, packaging, and shipping.

I decided to drive a few minutes away to Castine, Maine!

  Lilacs were blooming everywhere!

I have never seen the town of Castine so beautiful!

At the lighthouse there were cute bikes, lupines, lilacs, and miniature pink roses.

Sometimes it is good to take a few days off from painting to regroup, clean, get organized!

Then the games can begin again!!!

I have seen this tree blooming once on Monhegan Island.

I have heard it is a difficult tree to grow.  The yellow blossoms are pretty to paint.

The smell of lilacs and lupines permeated the air in Castine!

Monet, Poppy, and Lily play all day off an on in their private doggy park.

Then Robert takes them to the beach for a few miles of walking and a swim.

They are enjoying warmer temperatures.

Poppy loves Beekman 1802 honeyed grapefruit wipes with goats milk.

She dances around when I open up the package.

I clean her ears and body with the wipe.

I have never seen a dog so happy to be cleaned.

Have a good night!

June 4, 2016 Monet, Poppy, Lily Enjoyed The Day! George Bellows Paintings!

I saw this larger George Bellows painting at the Portland Museum of Art two days ago.

I was amazed at the drawings of the fish shacks.

He drew them with more personality then they probably had!

I have seen a few artists do this but have not thought of doing this myself.

I don't think I would do it because I am always trying to draw it right!

It is not wrong to change the shape to create more feeling or interest.

I liked this smaller George Bellows painting more.

I found the little red house on the lower right interesting.

He used brush strokes to apply the red paint so the white canvas or panel would show through.

This is not very obvious from a photo of the painting.

It did help create the center of interest because of the unique texture of the red paint vs white.

He didn't use this technique anywhere else in the painting.

Monet was sweet this morning laying his head on Lily.

I spent most of my day outside with the dogs in their private dog park.

Robert and Ted and Luke arrived about the same time.

We were all happy to see them.

Poppy greeted Luke.  She nipped him a few times to get him jumping around.

Poppy has her own way of socializing.

She bumps her nose pretty hard on my stomach or leg or anywhere else like between my eyes!

She gets my attention too!

Monet and Poppy decided to roll on their backs and carry on in front of Luke.

I guess you could say they put on a show for us.

One of the beehives was very busy today!  I love to watch them.

Robert told me to be careful and not get in their flight area.

I was thankful of his thoughts.  I would not want a hundred bees caught in my long hair!

The irises are blooming in my garden!

Have a good night.

June 3, 2016 Painted at Hancock Point Boathouse and Carters Beach!

"Hancock Point Boat House" 6x8 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipped.

I sat inside my car today at the Hancock Point boathouse and wharf.

It was a difficult painting.

This painting does look different compared to my other sunny day paintings!

"Carters Beach View" 4x5 oil on copper 250$ framed in gold and shipped.

I decided my painting needed a few lupines!

The boathouse I painted earlier is on the left.

I was sleepy all day from driving yesterday.

At least I was out there painting!

I was comfortable inside the van painting!

Here is a Frederick Church painting I saw at the Portland Museum of Art.

What an interesting cloud he painted!

W. Kahn painted this boat scene.  I was amazed at the colors in the rocks.

I recognized this view of Monhegan.  I can't remember who painted this one!

Large variety of colors!

   Nice seascape by Childe Hassam.

   Have a great night!

June 2, 2016 Favorite Paintings At Portland Museum Of Art!

This painting by John Singer Sargent was my favorite!

It was the feeling of sunlight, colors, and his brushstrokes that fascinated me.

In particular it was the long variety of warm colors thickly applied in the sunlight area of the step

that captured my attention.

I was surprised how bright and warm he painted this highlight.

There were so many colors in a small area.

John Singer Sargent was an amazing artist.

I love the feeling of leaves on the steps.

I admired the drawing skills of Andrew Wyeth.

I love taking photos of the paintings to study them closer at home.

His highlights were cool almost white.

I admired his tiny brushstrokes creating the look of texture without any painting surface texture.

I will share more painting tomorrow!

I arrived late at Tidewater Farm.

I would have painted this scene of the beehives and the farm.

I had a migraine headache.

The Portland Museum of Art was a great place to recover.

I delivered two 10x10 flower paintings to Tidewater Farm for this August show.

I am painting at Hancock Point tomorrow morning after 10am.

Good night!

June 1, 2016 Beautiful Day In Schoodic, Acadia National Park Painting!

"Schoodic In June" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipping included.

Today I was driving to Stonington when I decided to paint in Schoodic!

It is almost too beautiful in Maine for any artist to handle!

Decision on where to paint is the hardest part of the day!

I admired this scene and set up to paint.

It was amazing listening to the sea crashing, seagulls, and an occasional tourist.

I decided to allow wild roses to bloom in my painting.

"Spring at Sandy Point Beach" 6x8 oil on copper 450$ framed in gold or black with gold.  Shipped.

I was so inspired by a evening walk on Sandy Point Beach I stayed up late to paint!

Here are a few photos of Schoodic in Acadia National Park.

I am enjoying painting larger 6x8 copper paintings.  I will still paint some 4x5 soon.

There were buttercups growing in the horse's field, firewood, laundry, barns!

The man of the farm was on a tractor.

Grandpa Luke barked as Ted and him were crossing the Verona Island bridge.

He wanted to visit us!

It was Lily's first day of being in heat today.  Luke snuck by to sniff her.

I noticed Poppy and Monet giving Luke the eye!

Poppy knew exactly what Luke was up to.

She growled, bumped him with her nose, and then stood guard.

Monet barked at us.

They were acting exactly like human parents!

Poppy told Luke, "There will be absolutely no funny business Mr."

Lily was chewing on a toy.  She had no idea anything was going on.

We will keep Lily in the house next time Luke comes to visit.

Have a great night!
